As former President Donald Trump continues to handily lead his rivals in polling half a year out from voting beginning in Iowa with its famed caucuses in January, a second race is emerging among Republicans both in the 2024 presidential field and outside it. The mad dash for who will be the eventual nominee’s running mate, the next possible vice president of the United States, is well underway in GOP circles as several top Republicans vie for Trump’s consideration for the important post should the former president win the chance to represent the party yet again at the top of the ticket.

I still like Sarah Palin. She got such a bad deal from her own party. Not sure I like many of these picks, tho. Who on earth would want Pence? Once a traitor always a a traitor.

No Pence, Haley, Mace. I really like Kari Lake, Ric Grennel, and John Ratcliffe. Scott and Blackburn are good, but already from red states. Vance and Vivek are still green, but I like them.

Blackburn, Carson or Lake. All good.
Carson may be ,of the three, particularly helpful --trusted by Trump and the base and can help with minority turnout for Trump. Carson has few, if any, negatives. Blackburn and Lake are both strong but Dr Carson could provide the marginal boost Trump needs in the hotly contested swing States and precincts. .
Noem...maybe.
NO way on Pence and Haley. Never.

I still think Rand Paul would do a great job. Never Haley, Pence or Mace.

If Trump is the nominee, I think Tim Scott or Byron Donalds would be good picks. I don't see Ramaswamy playing second fiddle to Trump, and Trump is too egotistical to choose someone smarter and more articulate than himself. Hopefully Trump would give him a cabinet position. Grennel would be a good choice for VP, too. He's been very loyal to Trump.

I think it’s Kari Lake. She’s smart and can crush the media all on her own.
I’d prefer Varaswama (sp?!).
Pence is laughable to be listed. I wouldn’t cross the street to urinate on Pence if he was being raped by Mitt Romney. I couldn’t tell them apart.

Besides Bendict Pence, there were some on the list who are definitely backstabbers or too green to have the qualities needed to BE President should the need arise.
I do like some of the candidates, and there are some who were not listed... but Pence?

Vivek or Kari. I don't want any politicians as VP. Look what career politician Biden has done to destroy our country. I'm convinced that the majority of politicians have been bought and paid for.

Neither Donalds nor Desantis nor any other Floridian will be picked by PDJT. WHY?? THE answer lies in Article 2 of the constitution. Florida's 30 electors can only vote for 1 other resident of Florida. That would be PDJT. If you doubt this you have a short memory Dick Cheney relocated from TX to WY for this very reason.

Someone with as much backbone and fire as Trump so they can't be influenced, manipulated, or co-opted. Have a feeling that would rule out any women or minorities. Never too soon to see who should be the Republican flag bearer after Trump. Like the idea of Rand Paul too.

Most of these are non-starters for me. The 2024 election will be a blood bath. You need someone who can fight like a Spartan, and give no quarter. For me, that person is Kari Lake, and there is a certain symmetry in that both she and President Trump were screwed out of their rightful wins.

Somebody who adds a state and softens the attitudes of Brittani and Alison and Emily and their friends in burbs. The rest are all cabinet worthy. Establishment hacks need not apply.
