Conservatives raged on social media over first lady Jill Biden's political message at King Charles III's coronation on Saturday.
Biden and her granddaughter Finnegan Biden wore coordinated yellow and blue dresses to the coronation ceremony, representing the flag of Ukraine. The move was viewed as a sign of solidarity with the Eastern European country, which for more than a year has been fighting off an invasion from Russia.
(snip)Meanwhile, Biden expressed support for Ukraine in her last tweet before the ceremony, writing: "We stand with Ukraine."

Activists on Saturday demanded that the state of California pay millions of dollars to each Black resident in reparations as a way to make amends for slavery and subsequent discrimination, dismissing the mammoth proposals from California's reparations task force as too little. The demands were made at a highly explosive official meeting of the task force, which was created by state legislation signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2020. The committee was hearing comments from the public as it considers final recommendations to submit to the California Legislature, which will then decide whether to implement the measures and send

DENVER — Denver City Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca is suggesting a new tax on white-owned businesses to fund racial reparations to minority-owned businesses. CdeBaca advocated for race-based taxation, which would almost certainly prompt constitutional challenges, at a Thursday forum before the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance. (Snip) “Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labors, and stolen resources,” said CdeBaca, who identifies as a Democratic Socialist. CdeBaca said a business improvement districts, or BID, could be used to enact a race-based tax on white-owned businesses. “You could be collecting those extra taxes from white-led business all over the city and redistributing

President Joe Biden defended his decision to seek reelection despite his advanced age during an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle on Friday and claimed he “know[s] more than the vast majority of people.” After Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris and claimed she hadn’t “gotten the credit she deserves,” Ruhle said, “Critics would say you’re elevating her because they think you wouldn’t serve a full term, and it is fair to say that there’s not a Fortune 500 company in the world looking to hire a CEO in his 80s.” “So why would an 82-year-old Joe Biden be the right

During an interview with MSNBC on Friday aired on Friday’s broadcast of “The 11th Hour,” President Joe Biden claimed that “no one’s ever tied” their budget to raising the debt ceiling and responded to charges that former President Donald Trump was willing to play ball on issues while he won’t by stating that Trump hurt the economy and increased debt, while the economy under the Biden presidency is doing well.
Biden said, “[T]he idea someone, for the first time, is saying, unless you pass this ridiculous budget I have — which is the way I would characterize what the Republican MAGA budget is — unless you pass this budget,

We’ve seen some major media upheaval of late, particularly with the “parting of the ways” between Fox and their biggest star, Tucker Carlson. It’s not clear yet where Carlson is going to land, although as we noted he’s got a good offer out there, and is likely to have a lot more once he’s free of his Fox contract. But one of the people that I can’t imagine a lot of Fox fans would have Fox “parting ways” with is Geraldo Rivera.
He’s more than a little embarrassing with some of the things that he has said. His comment about AR-15s — saying that the AR stood for “automatic rifle” —

The brand partnership between Bud Light and social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney appears to have alienated both conservatives and leftists as members of the latter group criticize the brand for halfheartedly recanting support for the self-described transgender social media star.
Several reports indicate that Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, has hemorrhaged sales after executives partnered with Mulvaney, a man who claims to be a woman and chronicled his purported gender transition on social media. Executives for the beverage firm have offered vague apologies, downplayed the extent of the campaign,

The Princess of Wales looked radiant in a dazzling ivory Alexander McQueen dress as she attended the King’s Coronation alongside Prince William today.
As she arrived in London this morning, Kate Middleton, 41, was elegant in the stunning ivory silk crepe gown, which featured silver bullion and thread work embroidery featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs to represent each of the four nations.
Instead of a tiara, the royal mother-of-three wore a matching Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen Headpiece with silver bullion, crystal and silver thread work three-dimensional leaf embroidery.

Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, attended King Charles’ Coronation ceremony on behalf of her husband Joe Biden, who had declined the invitation.
During the event, the First Lady was seated at the back of Westminster Abbey with her granddaughter Finnegan Biden, wearing yellow and blue outfits. (Photo) While some noted that their placement was far from the center of proceedings, Jean-Pierre highlighted that Biden and Charles had spoken for around 30 minutes the day before the ceremony.
Biden’s decision sparked controversy among Conservative MPs, but White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that it was not a snub

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle previewed her interview with President Joe Biden Friday on MSNBC’s “The Beat,” in which the president accused Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) of having “sold away everything” to the “far, far right.”
Ruhle asked, “Is Kevin McCarthy an honest broker for you to negotiate with?”
Biden responded, “I think he’s an honest man. I think he’s in a position, though. He had to make a deal that was pretty, you know, 15 votes. Fifteen votes where he just about sold away everything that he, that the far, far right. There’s a Republican Party and there’s the MAGA Republicans, and the MAGA Republicans really have put him in a position

The California Reparations Task Force formally recommended that the state offer payments of up to $1.2 million to every qualifying Black resident. The task force held a public meeting in Oakland, California, on Saturday and voted on the final set of recommendations to be sent to the state's legislators. The nine-member panel called on the state to offer its Black residents a formal apology in addition to the payments.
"Reparations are not only morally justifiable, but they have the potential to address long-standing racial disparities and inequalities," Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., said after attending the meeting.

President Joe Biden brushed his decision not to attend King Charles III's coronation on Saturday during a softball interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle by saying: 'I told him I couldn't be there because I have this going on.'
Biden, 80, said that he told the king that he would be in the United Kingdom during the summer during the NATO conference. 'He's a good acquaintance and we've worked together on environmental issues,' the president said of King Charles III.
The president dispatched his wife to represent the US at the celebrations in London.
