“This is a huge victory for Moscow over Washington,” former national security director John Bolton declared this morning on CBS. “It endangers other Americans in the future, who can be grabbed and used by bargaining chips,” he said of the swap of Brittney Griner for Viktor Bout, one of the world’s most dangerous men before his arrest and conviction.
Bolton also revealed in this clip that the Trump administration had an offer to trade Paul Whelan for Bout two years ago. They passed, and as Bolton says, “for very good reasons” (via Caleb Howe at Mediaite):

We just reported about the release of the Twitter Files Part II. This release pertains to blacklisting, or what we’ve come to know as “shadowbanning.” As journalist Bari Weiss detailed, conservative personalities like Charlie Kirk and Dan Bongino were “blacklisted,” with the visibility of what they were saying suppressed. Other people who said things against the narrative, such as for COVID, were also blacklisted, even if they were prominent scientists, such as Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.
All this was going on, even as Twitter denied it was happening. They claimed they didn’t shadowban, and they certainly didn’t do it based on political ideology.

Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee slammed BlackRock for moving “away from its fiduciary duty in general as an asset manager” and into “political activism.”
“At the beginning of this year, I led in the national divestment effort to remove any exposure we had with BlackRock,” Yee said. She noted that her office “divested more than $543 million from BlackRock money market funds and reduced our direct exposure to BlackRock by 97% this year.”
Arizona’s treasurer explained that divestment happened after the state Investment Risk Management Committee (IRMC) found that BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s annual letters in recent years “began dictating to businesses

The first member of Generation Z to become a congressman-elect has reportedly been denied a Washington, DC, apartment due to “really bad” credit.
Democrat Maxwell Alejandro Frost will soon replace Rep. Val Demings (D) for her seat in Florida’s 10th U.S. Congressional District next month, but he will have some difficulty finding a place to hang his hat near Capitol Hill after a potential landlord denied him an apartment because of his credit score.
“Just applied to an apartment in DC where I told the guy that my credit was really bad. He said I’d be fine. Got denied, lost the apartment, and the application fee. This ain’t meant for people

Invitations went out this week for an “intimate dinner” with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his wife, Casey in Miami Sunday. The Republican governor won a landslide victory in his campaign for re-election and turned Florida into a solid red state. Now he is meeting with some of his top donors and laying the groundwork for the way forward.
The way forward, if you ask me, is for DeSantis to get his ducks in a row and enter the Republican primary for the 2024 presidential election. But, no one asked and I’m not invited to the dinner with the governor and his lovely wife. The people of Florida

Washington - U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to hold former Donald Trump's office in contempt of court for failing to fully comply with a subpoena to return all classified documents in the former president's possession, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell has not yet held a hearing or ruled on the request, the newspaper reported.
One of the key areas of disagreement centers on the Trump legal team's repeated refusal to designate a custodian of records to sign a document attesting that all classified materials have been returned to the federal government, the report added.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) predicted on Thursday that leftist President Joe Biden’s decision to trade imprisoned basketball player Brittney Griner for notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the “merchant of death,” would result in people dying as rogue states interpreted the move as open season to arrest Americans.
Cotton’s remarks came in an appearance on the SiriusXM Patriot program Breitbart News Daily hosted by Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. Biden announced and the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday that Griner and Bout were both free.
“As a result of the efforts made, we managed to agree with the American side to arrange an exchange of Viktor Bout

Celine Dion has revealed she has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder with features of an autoimmune disease.
The French Canadian singer told her 5.2m Instagram followers the condition makes her muscles spasm uncontrollably.
It has also left her with difficulties walking and singing, she said, meaning she will be unable to play planned shows in the UK and Europe next year.
"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time," said Dion. "And it's been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I've been going through," the 54-year-old continued in an emotionally-charged video.

The investment company known as BlackRock has an agenda that is far from beneficial as it adheres to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment standards which don’t focus on profitability and good business practices but adherence to left-leaning ideologies. Sticking to ESG practices, BlackRock has endangered the livelihoods of Texans and pension plans by boycotting industries that left-leaning people typically resist like oil and coal, throwing investment capital instead at companies with “green initiatives.” As RedState previously covered back in June, BlackRock controls more assets than any other investment management firm on Wall Street with around $10 trillion under management. Woke corporations have taken up Democratic talking points on culture war issues, but they still expect Republicans to protect them from Democrats seeking to regulate them. Republicans should follow the lead of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR).
With Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen facing questions from senators over the company’s merger with Albertsons, Cotton took the opportunity to grill him over the company’s woke turn. That includes Kroger firing two employees who refused to wear an apron to support the gay and transgender community, as well as the company issuing a guide to employees instructing them not to use the terms “sir” or “ma’am.”

After months of negotiation, the Biden administration on Thursday freed convicted notorious arms trafficker Viktor Bout in exchange for U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia on drug charges.
Bout had been serving a 25-year prison sentence in the U.S. In April 2012, he was found guilty of conspiring to kill Americans and U.S. officials, acquiring and exporting anti-aircraft missiles, and aiding a terrorist organization.
For his illegal weapons exploits, the notorious criminal earned the moniker “Merchant of Death,” inspiring the Hollywood film Lord of War, starring Nic Cage.

It has been a very bad few weeks for former President Donald Trump. His candidates in key swing states lost for the most part, and those who didn’t still ended up with far fewer Republican votes than non-Trump candidates. He announced the start of his 2024 presidential campaign and has done nothing significant since then. Then, this week, his family business was found guilty of criminal tax fraud and the January 6 Committee has made it clear criminal referrals are coming.
The failure of the campaign to meaningfully launch has been noted.
Donald Trump launched his candidacy three weeks ago, but you’d barely know it from watching his campaign.
