The Case Against Mitch McConnell For Leader

Original Article

Posted By: Imright, 11/10/2022 2:43:43 PM

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is making a play for another term in leadership next week while control of the upper chamber remains in the balance after the Kentucky lawmaker’s chess game sabotaged chances for a GOP majority. In September, McConnell inaugurated the fall midterms by undermining Republicans in key races when the GOP Senate chief complained of “candidate quality.” “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate,” McConnell said on Fox News just before Labor Day, the unofficial start of the fall campaign season. “Senate races are just different, they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”

I am no fan of Mitch McConnell and wouldn’t mind seeing him replaced, but I don’t think it is correct or helpful to pin so much blame on him, given the actual outcomes vs. the polls and predicted red wave. There’s plenty of blame to go around, not the least regarding the quality of some Senate candidates and their campaigns. Whatever his faults, McConnell did accomplish some good things for President Trump. Let’s make sure that his replacement is thoroughly vetted in terms of competence as well as ideology. The last thing we need is to fall out of the frying pan and into the fire.

McConnell very publicly kicked some very qualified Republican Senate candidates to the curb over "quality". Yet the Democrats chose to run an idiot stroke victim, Fetterman, who couldn't string a sentence together and he received their full support, and won over a very qualified physician (who was poor quality)! The Turtle hid in his shell and drank Kentucky Bourbon with his Democrat friends when he should have been helping to elect new Republican Senators. McConnell's lack of support for Republican candidates and help to regain the majority should disqualify him from future leadership of the party.

Donating one red cent to Lisa Murkowski, in a race between two Republicans, should be enough to get McConnell bounced from leadership. Cooperating with the Democrats on so-called infrastructure and raising the debt ceiling should also earn him the boot. I don't know how he could have prevented the confirmation of the radical judges, although if he was able to communicate effectively he could have exposed how extreme they are. If the Senate ends up 50/50 or 51/49 in favor of the Republicans and another Senator takes his place I wouldn't be surprised if he resigns entirely, letting the Democrat governor of Kentucky replace him with a Democrat.

The fact that he basically opposed the best conservative president we have had since Ronald Reagan might be a clue... that this sniveling little Kentucky paper towel has not become president apparently is not to his liking. And his little Chinee wife doesn't help. Yes. I said it. Call me a racist because I think she is.

China is close to introducing its most advanced stealth bomber yet, as the country continues to expand its air force. The H-20 bomber is seen as China's answer to the US B-21 Raider. The US defence department estimates a cruising distance of more than 5,300 miles for the H-20, the last in China's "20 series" new-generation warplanes, which will double the country's strike range. "The aircraft is ready to be introduced, it's just a matter of choosing the right timing," an insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, told the South China Morning Post.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending temporary amnesty status to hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals from a variety of countries living in the United States who would otherwise be eligible for deportation. Just a few days after Tuesday’s midterm elections, Biden’s DHS filed an automatic extension in the federal register that will allow more than 305,000 foreign nationals from El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan to remain in the U.S. and hold American jobs. The bulk, about 194,000, are nationals from El Salvador.

If there was an award for “Most Tone-Deaf Tweet Ever”, one would have a hard time finding anything to beat out Hillary Clinton’s Veteran’s Day message. While holidays celebrating those who have fought for our freedoms should forever remain non-partisan, it’s hard not to point and laugh at how shameless some people are. Take Clinton, for example, who posted this photo along with an admittedly touching caption: (Tweet/Photo) For those still confused, the picture is from Clinton’s infamous trip to Bosnia in 1996. The very trip she lied about, claiming she had landed “under sniper fire.”

The Torah describes the wickedness of Sodom as being pervasive enough to be punished by G od's destruction of the city. There were not even ten righteous people in the entire city. When the men of Sodom surrounded Lot's home with the intention of doing harm to Lot's guests, the Torah informs us that the wicked group included "both young and old, all the people from every quarter" (Genesis 19:4). Is it really possible for an entire city to be so steeped in evil? How can we imagine a town so corrupt that not even ten good people lived there?
