Who must feel like the biggest fool in Washington, right now?
Probably Sen. Joe Manchin, the independent-minded Democrat from the bright red state of West Virginia, who cut a deal with his fellow Democrats on the "Inflation Reduction Act," gave them his vote with conditions -- and is now getting stiffed.
According to The Hill:
More than 70 House Democrats are signing on to a letter pressing Democratic leaders to not include a side deal with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on reforming the permit process for energy projects in a bill funding the government.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Thursday the United States must look to “the wind, sun, and other clean sources of energy” instead of relying on oil and gas.
Yellen’s remarks came during a trip to Detroit, Michigan, where she boasted about the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act.
“Our plan — powered by the Inflation Reduction Act — represents the largest investment in fighting climate change in our country’s history,” Yellen told the crowd. “It will put us well on our way toward a future where we depend on the wind, sun, and other clean sources of energy.”

Dear Steve,
You ask why doctors are silent. The electronic medical records (EMRs) are a ball and chain to physicians. We are tracked through them. When I wrote a prescription for Ivermectin for a patient, with informed consent (she was vaccinated), I received 5 letters threatening my medical license, my hospital privileges, and my insurance contracts. I would not have received 5 letters if I killed someone in negligence or malpractice. If I have my license pulled, I will no longer be able to help my patients.
I speak to patients on a one-on-one basis, but speaking out would destroy my family.

CBS News has a big scoop this afternoon. The industry group that sets international standards for credit card companies has decided to create a new code for the purchase of guns and ammo that, while not identifying the exact purchases, will separate those items from the more generic category they had been lumped in with previously.
Merchant category codes are made up of four digits and are used across all sorts of industries as a means to classify retailers, while not revealing individual product purchases. Credit card companies currently lump firearm retailers in with other outlets, classifying them as either “5999: Miscellaneous retail stores” or “5941: Sporting Goods Stores.”

Meghan Markle publicly stepped out with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton on Saturday to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The four were photographed viewing a massive sea of floral tributes laid outside Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch. The outing marked the first time the two couples have all appeared in public together since Commonwealth Day on March 9, an appearance that was marked by awkward greetings and grim faces. We’re told it was William who extended the invite to his estranged brother and wife.[Snip]Earlier in the day, other royal family members gathered

NEW YORK — Payment processor Visa Inc. said Saturday that it plans to start separately categorizing sales at gun shops, a major win for gun control advocates who say it will help better track suspicious surges of gun sales that could be a prelude to a mass shooting.
But the decision by Visa, the world’s largest payment processor, will likely provoke the ire of gun rights advocates and gun lobbyists, who have argued that categorizing gun sales would unfairly flag an industry when most sales do not lead to mass shootings. It joins Mastercard and American Express, which also said they plan to move forward with categorizing gun shop sales.

We covered earlier the bombshell story that dozens of Trump allies reportedly were served with search warrants or subpoenas. We included a copy of what they are looking for in at least one of the subpoenas. It was incredibly broad, looking for communications related to certification of the election and the Save America PAC. Now, while we’re not sure of the exact number of people, some of the names are starting to come out.
William Russell wasn’t home when the two FBI agents came to his house Wednesday morning, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Russell served in the Trump White House as a special assistant to the president and the deputy

A Clinton-appointed federal Judge blocked a new Arizona election integrity law from being enforced in the upcoming 2022 General Election.
HB2247 is meant to clean the voter rolls and remove registrants who are registered in another state and no longer live in Arizona. The new law would add a statement on voter registration forms, specifying that if a registrant permanently moves to another state after registering in this state, their registration will be canceled.

King Charles III, who ascended to the throne on Thursday, has chosen to rule with the name he was given at birth. But as a British king it comes with baggage. Charles I, born in 1600, endured a stormy reign that ended with his execution 49 years later. In between, he provoked a civil war and erased the notion of an all-powerful monarchy—or indeed, of any monarchy at all for the 11 years after his beheading outside Banqueting House in London. Charles II, his son, chose to lay low on the European continent for what came to be known

In early September, Joe Biden delivered what has now been dubbed his “red speech.” Somehow, the content managed to be worse than the presentation. The president railed against “MAGA Republicans,” declaring them enemies of the state and a threat to the republic.
Truly, it was the most obscene speech a president has given since the popularization of modern national addresses. Far from being a unifying figure, Biden chose to drive a knife through the heart of the country, and it didn’t take long for the walk-backs to begin. Pretty soon, the president began insisting that he wasn’t talking about “mainstream Republicans” and that the “ultra MAGA” represented

Are recent reports of a same-sex Georgia couple charged with aggravated child molestation and sexual exploitation in any way related to reports of children coming down with monkeypox?
How do children get monkeypox when monkeypox is fueled by sex between men? As monkeypox cases (6,000 or more to date) continue to grow across the country, there should be no confusion whether or not the rapidly spreading virus is a sexually transmitted disease.
When children come down with monkeypox and monkeypox spreads through sexual contact, where are the police reports? The report of an obvious criminal assault and evidence of sex with minors demonstrate

King Charles III's warring sons Prince William and Harry along with their wives Kate and Meghan Markle all appeared dressed in black at Windsor Castle this evening as they went on a 40-minute walkabout inspecting the sea of floral tributes laid outside the gates of the royal estate in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were greeted by applause as they walked along the gates of Windsor Castle together as they honoured the legacy of Her Majesty - temporarily putting aside the differences sparked by Megxit which have fractured the Royal Family and
