How Trump Succeeded Where Reagan Failed

Original Article

Question: Before Donald Trump, who was the last Republican president who didn't appoint at least one pro-choice Supreme Court justice? Answer: Herbert Hoover. This article will mainly be about how Donald Trump broke an almost-50-year trend of Republican leaders using and discarding their pro-life base. But first, let me briefly comment on a different issue that came to the fore early in Trump's presidency. Back in December of 2017, Donald Trump announced that the U.S. embassy in Israel would be moving to Jerusalem. This made a lot of people angry. The press and the political establishment condemned it

Excellent summation of the greatest President in my lifetime, including Reagan. I’ve always felt that PDJT loves US (the people) and the country and respected us. Other politicians see us (base/voters) as the means to their end. PDJT sees HIMSELF as the means to OUR end: — MAGA — and keeps his promises to that end.

Trump was/is the best president of my lifetime...which stretches back to the mid-sixties. He is one of the greatest in our nations history and if the Republic survives it will be in large part because of his presidency.

Of whom that is true? Pesky negatives. And FTA: 'Eisenhower appointed five justices, two of whom — William J. Brennan and Potter Stewart — were still on the Court when it decided Roe v. Wade in 1973. Both voted with the liberals to create a constitutional right to abortion.' Should read: to invent an imaginary right to abortion.

An exercise in over simplified revisionist history. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I find it interesting that this author considers their opinion so important they give it under a fake name. If you hide your identity then I wonder how much credibility I should give your interpretation of history.

Trump vs Reagan. I refuse to put one over the other. They were the two best Presidents we had (imho). They were both Republicans. That is the only reason to vote Republican. Neither party can run on their record. I don't recognize our government anymore. I hardly call it a government. It has been overrun with incompetence, corruption, and tyranny. It is not doing its job. Very likely our country is on a terminal path because of it. I doubt a Reagan or a Trump can fix it. The Lady Chihuahua is likely voting third party in the upcoming elections due to the overturn of Roe Vs Wade. She would have likely voted Republican. She says abortion isn't important to her, but she doesn't like the government telling people what to do. Don't know how many others feel like her. She wished the government would just stay out of the abortion issue. The left has plenty of issues now to rally their base. The 2022 and 2024 elections will likely be close instead of a Republican blowout because of it.

Trump was very successful because he chose justices based on a principle rather than an issue. He wanted justices that adhered to the original concepts in the Constitution of a LIMITED federal government. He used the Federalist Society to qualify the justices for that principle. The 3 recent decisions are clearly based on the philosophy of a Constitutionally limited federal government. The character of the justices he appointed proved their bravery, unlike Roberts who is too timid to stand up for the things he, supposedly, believes in. Roberts is too busy trying to mollify people to carry out his Constitutional duties, just like he did with BOCare. He squirmed into support of the the vote but moaned over extent the other justices went to, striking down Roe. He would have preserved the hackery of Roe as he preserved the hackery of BOCare. Luckily we also have the bravery and clear thinking of justices Thomas and Alito to carry the day and resolve critical issues for our country in a decisive manner.

The vetting process for judicial nominations for assignment or nominates to the high courts are very important and should not be made for political considerations. This article has the issue of abortion as its focus. That issue speaks loudly about the character and temperament of candidates bedrock values and point of view on Constitutional issues, but they should be defenders of the Constitution and not activists. The latest SCOTUS judge is a joke-- there were others more qualified and had a better judicial reputation, but many of those who seem okay when nominated, actually CHANGE their views once ON the court. Respect for the Rule of Law and fidelity to the Constitution should be the ONLY standard.

NBC News senior reporter Ben Collins said on the “Morning Joe” panel Tuesday that the Fourth of July parade shooting is “not tied” to former President Donald Trump. Police detained suspected shooter Robert E. Crimo, 22, after the attack that killed at least six people and injured over 20 others. Collins said the former president is not to blame for the shootings after reports circulated that the suspected shooter attended a Trump rally dressed as the character from the “Where’s Waldo” children’s books. “The one thing that combines all these things is ready access to weapons,” he said.

But we live in America where we have the Second Amendment and we have the Supreme Court of the United States telling everybody they can carry a gun wherever they want.”

Former President Donald Trump was cleared of contempt charges after failing to turn over documents demanded in a subpoena by the state’s attorney general, a New York judge has ruled. Trump’s April 25 contempt finding came after he contested a December subpoena seeking records related to his personal finances and the financing of several properties. He had no material that was responsive to the subpoena, as he claims, leading to demands by the judge and the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James that his attorneys provide detailed explanations of how they conducted their search.
