The New York Post Editorial Board published an article calling on Republican voters in Pennsylvania to reject Senate candidate Kathy Barnette.Titled “Pennsylvania GOP voters should kick Kathy Barnette to the curb“the New York Post Editorial Board criticized the candidate’s electability in the general election, beginning by remarking, “Keystone State Republican voters should think twice before pulling the lever for Kathy Barnette.”The article asserted that “the very factors that propelled her rise in the primary would kneecap her in the general.”The NY Post Editorial Board writes that GOP contenders Dr. Mehmet Oz and ex-Bridgewater CEO Dave McCormick have done significant damage to one another,

I honestly have been trying to make sense of this contest but continue to have no idea which candidate is best.
What confounds me is that various writers and commentators I respect have such strong and varied takes on it, none of which help clarify the situation.

What's tragic is that, in the generic ballot, Republicans win hands-down. Now that Trump has endorsed both a Senate and Governor candidate, we have now have internally divided races heading into Tuesday. As for Governor, Trump has now endorsed Mastriano, just as Shapiro did. I am not optimistic.

I watched the the debates. Kathy Barnette had all the right talking points but not a syllable of what she would actually do. She gave few details to indicate that she understands the issues or the demands of the position. Two lesser known candidates seemed more qualified but they lack the charisma of Ozzie and McCormick. I can't vote in PA but I would have a tough time deciding which candidate to support.

There are unanswered ambiguities regarding Kathy's service. Last heard, she is refusing to release her (one page) NGB Form 22 (the National Guard's equivalent of the DD-214). Among other things Form 22 includes department (or branch), date of enlistment, last day of service, information about any personnel security investigations, "additional remarks and information, " mailing address after leaving the National Guard. reason for discharge from the National Guard, character of service, and eligibility for reenlistment.

Barnette is a democrat plant. I saw a video of her complaining how she has been a victim of racism all her life. She was whining about systemic racism in this country. Do not vote for her. She is a fraud.

I live in PA. I voted for the candidates who I thought would have enough strength to win in Nov.
I might not agree with every position on matters.
Being win-able is most important.

New Yorkers can not be trusted to evaluate Pennsylvania politicians. Judging by the past 20 years, neither can Pennsylvanians.

McCain, Romney, Jeb Bush were electable....Trump was not...so the SMART people told us...Kathy Barnette is very conservative and in this environment of utter destruction by Democrats very electable

For the NY Post to step into this election with 72 hours before the polls open makes me believe this is an act of desperation by someone...if you want to say something about a candidate don't wait until the weekend before the election...it stinks

Another case of all the wrong people are against her, so therefore…
The exception is Trump, and that confuses me.

I'm glad I'm not there, too. I have no idea which one I'd vote for. Barnette seems good but there is all this opposition from team Trump and now the Post which I don't get. I also don't get why they are promoting Oz, who seems to be an unrepentant leftist. I wouldn't want him either.

The problem is Oz. I don’t believe conservatives trust him regardless of whether Trump has endorsed him or not. What a mess they have there in Pennsylvania. I honestly don’t know who I would choose. Surely, there is someone who knows the truth about Barnette. Could she be a plant? Is Oz a plant because his policies are not what he was saying on his program in the past? Regardless who will win, I won’t be confident of their ability until we see how they perform once they must make hard decisions. It’s like what happened in Ohio. I voted for Vance but I am not confident that he will be a conservative voice because of his past statements. I hope the benefit of the doubt does not come back and b8te me in the behind. I do not envy my Republican neighbors next door as they choose who will represent them. Sounds like a familiar mess over there.

It seems that Oz is losing in PA. Barnett is passing him. So, Trump wants her to be dropped by Doug Mastriano (so Doug throw her under the bus). Trump must save face and make sure Oz wins so he is now trashing Kathy.
I was never going to vote for her in the first place and I was not going to vote for Doug either. Now this race is getting VERY dirty. I wish to hell Trump would stay our of the PA race.

Barnette ran for a House seat in the Philadelphia area, in 2020, and was defeated by a lackluster woman named Dean. I would be surprised of the dimocrats didn't go after Barnette's military service record back then.

Ric Grennell a man I really respected for releasing a ton of documents for Trump, was trashing her with some deeply flawed/edited video, and had a ton of conservatives come down on him for doing that. Then, Hannity a man I USED to respect, did the nastiest hit piece he's ever done on anyone ( but, Lindsay, Karl Rove and Oz are aok in his book, for some reason)
It was ridiculous! He had 2 P.A. nobodies (polling wise) come on to trash her , but really try to promote themselves, since this was their only time to ever be on Hannity.
Hannity is already way behind Tucker , ratings wise, (and contest wise, I KNOW Brandon sucks, talk about something else) and I expect he's going to lose more viewers after this crud. He said she had a 0% chance of winning in the fall, what's he gonna say if she wins the primary? Is he going to back the Dem?

John Podhoretz and the Murdoch New York Post oppose her? One thing you can say about Barnette is that she has all the right enemies.

An editorial in a NYC paper about an election in another state can be a bit cheeky but the NY Slimes does it all the time nationwide! That should not be a reason to vote FOR the problem child just because you don't like NY.
Any one who circulated a petition to raise a statue to Obama is suspect. And some of things she wrote in the past about gays and Muslims will be in ads used against her later this year if she succeeds.
I get it that Oz is a bit of a showboat but so was/is Trump.
Hold your nose, Keystone State, and vote for Oz! Should he win, he's an advocate for Trump/MAGA as he's married to it. Any other "winner" will hate Trump and look to pay him back.

This barrette babe came out of now where...and her history is twisted and murky ...and her pitch that she's qualified because she's a black woman doesn't pass the smell test...I see this whole vote as an attempt to smear President Trump by the "never Trump rinos"...Washington DC doesn't want a senator that will follow the America First line...and this is their attempt at taking back the Republican Party...like the bushes and romneys and billy crystal ...and let's not forget cheny...

The New York Post was SUPPRESSED before the 2020 election in its attempt to bring the Laptop from Hell to public attention. That makes the NY Post okay by me. Hardly a liberal rag.
I am firmly convinced that Burnette is a total fraud. A Dem plant. She has gaping holes in her military record. She keeps tripping up on details about that record, her alleged stint as an adjunct professor, and similar elements of her resume. So Obama-like.
In her many remarks on race she has been very BLM-friendly. Slamming police, expressing fear for her teen son being targeted by police for being black. She floated the suggestion of erecting a statue to Obama in DC. She has done a lot on Twitter, basically none of it pro-Trump from what I have read.
I don't need convincing by Hannity or Ric Grenell. She sets off alarms for me bigtime. My view: anyone but Burnette.

I'd defer to Trump and vote Oz. The worst thing that can happen is once in a while he might not agree with Trump but with Burnett winning the primary the worst thing that can happen is the Senate stays in Democrat control. I think Trump picked Oz because he has a better chance of winning.

We hear the battle cry daily - vote them out! Vote them all out! Well, here we are in PA with no good candidates. This is what we always get, lousy candidates with no real choice but to choose what we perceive to be the least harmful person. Voting for a senate candidate is particularly daunting because once in they are there for 6 years. It's not like a representative that can be ousted in 2 years, a senator can do major damage quickly. Regardless of who wins the GOP primary, the Crats have already rigged the election as they will never stop stealing our votes until we storm DC and they already thought of that with their January 6th hoax. The Left can protest without fear of reprisal while the Right has now been silenced once again.

So perhaps in this race, the obvious choice is simply the lesser of two bad choices?

They really are scared of her aren't they? Even Trump is IMO. Otherwise he wouldn't be telling her she can't win. How does he know that? I know Oz is buddies with Trump's wife, but that doesn't mean he should have gotten an endorsement. The man is a carpet bagger, owned by the DuPont family thanks to his wife, not to mention Turkey will have an excellent back door into our Senate as Oz is still a Turkish citizen.

To those that say she didn't release her military records, she says that is all smears from her opponents and that she indeed did release her records. I have never seen such a smear campaign being waged against a decent candidate in favor of a carpet bagging huckster who still has his Turkish citizenship.

I'm glad I don't have to vote in the Pennsylvania primary. However, on Fox News Sunday, Barnette appeared for an interview. When asked point blank about her military service and her being a university professor or whatever, she smiled and said, "I'll make it very easy for you and your viewers. Go to my website and you'll find all the answers to these and other questions." Then she changed the subject and started talking about other things about herself. So, she dodged the question when she had the opportunity to clear it all up. That doesn't impress me.
Second, I don't much care whom President Trump supports. If he has any glaring weakness, it is that he has appointed some losers, such as Sessions as attorney general and his various secretaries of defense. Don't forget that President Trump strongly endorsed Mitt Romney for senate in Utah.
Yes, a dem senator would be worse than a RINO. But not by much.
