Democrats pushed to defund the police over much of the past year and a half. You even had people like Kamala Harris applauding the defunding — cutting millions — from the Los Angeles police.
But when some cities caved and started cutting back on the police, it didn’t end well. One of those cities was Burlington, Vermont — not a city that people necessarily think of as a high crime area. But residents and business owners ended up not feeling safe at night because the police department took such a hit from the defunding movement. [Video]

I am not sure who told Chevrolet that what we really needed this Christmas was to ugly cry over an ad they produced for the holidays, but whoever it was needs to go sit in the corner and think about what they’ve done.
You may have seen the shortened version of this ad, titled “Holiday Ride,” on TV. But you don’t get the full emotional impact without seeing the extended four-minute version, which is a tear-jerker and hit me harder than listening to my child ask me why Mufasa wasn’t waking up. [Video]
All the jokes aside, this ad is possibly one of the most needed

As Congress worked in recent days to increase the legal limit on the federal debt, the Treasury kept that debt artificially frozen at approximately $28.9 trillion, where it stood at the beginning of this week.
With that limit lifted, the federal debt will take a jump upward, then keep steadily climbing, constantly increasing the burden on future taxpayers.
In 2018, according to the last complete annual report on individual income tax returns published by the Internal Revenue Service, there were 100,424,240 households in the United States that filed what the IRS calls a "taxable return." "The taxable and nontaxable classification of a return

One of America’s most beloved national restaurant chains is at the center of a political firestorm over a picture of a controversial sign that was reportedly posted on the front door of one of its locations blaming staff shortages and reduced hours on President Joe Biden’s economic policies.
Images of the sign captured at an International House of Pancakes location in Arkansas immediately went viral with users swarming Twitter to weigh in on the message which could become a public relations nightmare for the company that has served up delightful fare for over 60 years.
According to the sign, which was noticed by a visitor to the eatery:

The Salvation Army asked for more than donations this year.
The Christian charitable organization asked all white donors to reflect on their racism this year.
Wow.
After a major uproar the Salvation Army backtracked over Thanksgiving weekend and released a statement refuting the claims of their racial demands.
The Salvation Army then removed its absurd “Let’s Talk About Racism” guide following the intense backlash over a text last week that told white donors to “sincerely apologize” for their racism while hinting that Christianity is institutionally racist.

Mainstream media outlets and Democrats can no longer ignore that inflation, one of the most terrifying economic events that can hit a country, is bad and getting worse. What's most disturbing, though, is that the headlines seriously understate what's really going on. Tucker Carlson, in a monologue that deserves wider attention than it received, reminds us that the feds changed their consumer price metrics in a way intended to obscure that inflation is actually worse than it was 40 years ago.
Although I was a teen during inflation's peak years in the mid- to late 1970s, I got a front-row seat for watching how financially disastrous

The suppression of the off-patent, hence low-profit, drug ivermectin for use in preventing and treating COVID is grotesque and inhumane. Consider the case of a wife who died while hospitalized for COVID while her husband begged the hospital to administer a supply he had in hand but was refused. From the Epoch Times:
David DeLuca of Sicklerville, New Jersey will never know if the Ivermectin prescribed by an out-of-state doctor for his wife would have saved her life. Colleen DeLuca, 62, died of COVID-19 on Oct. 10, at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital in Sewell, New Jersey, before he could get a court order to administer the drug.

Alabama sophomore quarterback Bryce Young won the 2021 Heisman Trophy on Saturday at the Jazz at Lincoln Center concert venue in New York City.
“This is amazing,” Young said when his name was announced as the winner. He then thanked an array of people, from his parents to his coaches, for his success.
Nearly 900 sports journalists, 57 living former Heisman Trophy winners and fans voted to determine the winner of the award, presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Young received 684 first-place votes. Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson finished second, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett finished third and Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud finished fourth.

Vermont's Essex-Westford School District, which includes the town of Essex that last year fired a high school lifeguard for merely questioning Critical Race Theory, has done it again. In the midst of a national furor over a sexually explicit graphic novel, the school has proclaimed it has the duty to expose children to pornographic imagery — to support free speech.
It is axiomatic that free speech rights do not extend fully into schools — they never have. For example, the First Amendment protects quite a shocking variety of pornographic materials, including bondage and rape videos. Are those acceptable, protected school teaching materials?

There is no difference between men and women, we’re told by leftist activists, none whatsoever. We’re also told by these same people that there’s nothing a man can do better than a woman, aside from writing their name in the snow… What we aren’t told is just how much better at being women men actually can be, at sports anyway.
That last sentence is, of course, absurd. It’s also, if what the left is desperately trying to convince the world of were accurate, is undeniably true.

You’re not going to believe this, but you now have more ammunition against the idiots running around saying Trump told people to inject themselves with bleach. He never did that. What he did do was inartfully try to describe a new technology that relies on UV light to be injected through a catheter into parts of the body (like the lungs) where the light can act as a “disinfectant” and kill viruses.
Scott Adams, who has been railing against the fake news bleach hoax since it happened, wrote, “These guys injected a disinfectant into sick COVID patients! UV light was the disinfectant, injected via a light catheter. Trump was right.”

First of all, if this report surprises you, you haven’t been paying attention to the desperate lengths the left continues to go to try to force every man, woman, and child in America — except for illegal aliens, of course — to get the hell vaccinated. As many times as they tell you to. Until the end of mankind. Or longer.
Assuming you’re a RedState regular, you won’t be surprised in the least by what you’re about to read.
Did I mention the school in the headline “bribed” kids with pizza, telling them: “Don’t say anything”? [Tweet]
