NCAA apologizes for disparities

The NCAA is promising to bring better resources to the Women's Division I Basketball Tournament after videos and images of the women's facilities sparked outrage among fans and athletes online. Ahead of March Madness, student-athletes and coaches shared comparisons between the men's training facilities and a single rack of dumbbells and one stationary bike for the women. The NCAA initially blamed the lack of space and vowed to improve the conditions. Lynn Holzman, the NCAA's women's basketball VP, said the plan was to provide more space and equipment to teams that further advanced in the tournament. "We want to be

Just wait a bit and it will be moot since women’s sports will cease to exist when all the guys pretending to be girls replace the actual, biological females. But then it will be men competing against men. Wait, now I’m really confused.

Reminds me of when I was a senior at UC. A brand new housing facility was built for the male students, while we women were in a dorm that was probably built in 1900 with one communal shower/toilet for each floor housing probably 50 women.

The NCAA and the tournament has turned totally into a woke fest, every game makes mention of some racial or player inequity, always a comment either a pregame or half time comment on a particular player or coach that has overcome something, I have turned it off, silly me for hoping it could be like it used to be, college basketball an escape without Social comments.

Here's a egregious disparity that must be addressed at once. NFL cheerleaders get about $150 a game, while the men get millions. That is wrong, and it has to stop!

NCAA sports are a travesty. College is an academic endeavor by its nature and bringing in corporations and to rake in billions on the backs of so-called students, most of whom could not solve a quadratic equation or identify India or Indiana on a map when they entered the school and after they graduate, is wrong. It would be interesting to find out, school by school, how the money brought in by sports is used, state institutions especially. The Nike swoosh shouldn’t be all over the athletic gear of schools supported by tax payers. Ohio is not a Nike subsidiary, nor are its schools. And professional sports are even worse. Why should taxpayers pay for stadiums used by teams owned by multibillionaires, even if the said taxpayer doesn’t care about sports? Do movie theater owners get a tax break because some people love movies and might go to dinner, a movie and to a bar afterward for a night out? Why did Al Davis get stadiums built for his team at no charge to him but the Oakland Ballet Company, for instance, has to find private funds to help pay to use the Paramount Theatre? Why do sports fans get their interests underwritten by taxpayers any more than art or music or any other type of enthusiasts?

1) As usual, the women did not make a calm, detailed, rational objection to the situation. They posted a video and broke out in the usual shrill whining. 2) NCAA teams have student managers and paid staff who handle travel, lodging and logistics ie advance work. Why didn't they do their jobs here? Forewarned is forearmed. 3) The farce within the farce is: tournament teams almost never use workout facilities. There are games every other day. It's a grind. If you win: you rest as much as possible. You take fluids. You are literally told to stay off your feet unless you're practicing or going to meals. If you lose: you go home where your own facilities are waiting even though your season is over. Apart from the substandard athletic product, NCAA women and their sympathizers can't understand why they can't attract TV and/or casual audiences. Apparently there are no marketing majors among the athletes, only women's studies types who think that their screaming harpy routine is a draw.

It seems to me that complaints about college activities should focus on the poor quality, liberal indoctrination that they sell as "education." If you want to play basketball, there's the park in your hometown and it's free. It has always floored me how "scholarships" are awarded generously for sports but gifted children pay full freight.

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- Atlantic City says it will redo a Black Lives Matter tribute on a street because the original painting of those words across the entire road confused motorists who didn't know where to drive on it. Instead, the words "Black Lives Matter" will be painted onto the repaved road in a manner that does not obscure lane divider markings, Mayor Marty Small said Thursday. The City Council voted Wednesday night to spend $36,000 to repave the road, which police said had become so confusing to motorists that the city blocked it off at either end with barriers

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — When then-President Donald Trump visited Mount Rushmore last year for a fireworks display, Lakota activist Nick Tilsen saw an opportunity to further a goal of returning to Native American tribes control of land they once held. It would land him in jail, facing felony charges after he organized a demonstration to block a road leading to the monument, but it also made Mount Rushmore a focal point for that effort, known as the Land Back Movement. Now Tilsen, who heads a Rapid City, South Dakota-based Indigenous advocacy organization called NDN Collective, has a plan to make dramatic

The program is the latest experiment with a “guaranteed income,” an idea that giving poor people a set amount of money each month helps ease the stresses of poverty that often lead to poor health while hindering their ability to find full-time work. The idea isn’t new, but it’s having a revival across the U.S. after some mayors launched small, temporary programs across the country in
