The state of New York faces a budget deficit of $30 billion over the next two years thanks to the COVID-19 crisis, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday it’s up to the federal government to fill it. Without that help, Cuomo told reporters that funding for local governments and hospitals would take a significant hit. Education will too, unless the federal bill requires states to fully fund education. His comments come a day after Senate Republicans in Washington revealed details of their latest COVID-19 relief package proposal, called the HEALS Act. Cuomo sent a letter to the state’s congressional delegation urging them to push for $500 billion in unrestricted

This is one of the real dangers if Democrats win. States like NY, IL, and CA will drain the entire country dry trying to pay for all their ''needs''.

In return for the votes of the massive army of state employees the democrats if liberal states offered generous pensions that were not realistic. Now that this massive debt is dragging them down, they need the help of people from the states that operated in a frugal, financially responsible manner.

It too bad that the hospital/nursing home costs are so high for all the dying people. Maybe, you should have created a better plan and offered HCQ.

Raising taxes (again) ought to cover any potential shortfall. Gotham City can simply divert additional funding from the PD if there's a pinch.

No way! Your irresponsible, shameful, and a disgrace as a supposed leader. Any money you do receive in the future should require accountability on how it was spent. And by the way you need to take a pay cut for non-performance.

The only option is to raise taxes, Governor. Raise all taxes. Everything at least by 50%, or more. Sales income vehicle registration fees, tolls, s well as inventing new taxes. Come on and do what rice been wanting to do for a long time. You will feel so much better y solving the overspending problem with a solution of overtaxation. Either that or threaten to lay off teachers cops and firemen. Well cops not so much just cut their paychecks in half.

There must be excess money in NYC. How else could the mayor have money to burn painting graffiti on a major street, keep it pristine and pay police salaries to guard it.

Little Andrew has squandered billions of dollars on goofy projects - 700 million on a factory producing solar panels, which went under, a billion dollar nanotechnology center in Albany, where the director went to prison for corruption, a fancy sidewalk in Syracuse, called the 'connective corridor' so that the muggers would have a better shot at syracuse University students, an Upstate Medical school and hospital that is coated in corruption, a film production center in Syracuse to compete with Hollywood, which it has not.
If someone was ordered to design a completely corrupt state, they could just copy New York State.

There are consequences for locking down. NY tax players can fill the gap and their legislatures can cut the budget fat. Its not easy, but it isn't America's problem that NY has a budget shortfall.

We’ve already paid too much to NY. First was a hospital ship that wasn’t used. Second was a large hospital set up inside a large building. Not used either. Third was a tent hospital set up By Franklin Graham’s organization - not used much either. Then, there were supplies and personnel provided too. The American people have given enough to the ungrateful and crooked politicians of New York.
