President Donald Trump on Sunday defended his hostile tone with the press during a Fox News town hall at the Lincoln Memorial. One woman from New Jersey challenged Trump’s tone in a video question provided by Fox News moderators Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.“Please let go of those behaviors that are turning people away from you,” she said, criticizing his tone in the press briefings.Trump smiled at the question but said he has to continue fighting off a hostile press.“I am greeted with a hostile press, the likes of which no president has ever seen,” Trump said.

I’m pretty sure we have more important things to worry about than PDT’s tone. Good grief!!

Trump gives a good answer, and to the lady that asked him or accused him, nobody elected the media. Trump has a huge following of supporters. The media has no following, and no subscribers either, no one but political operatives willing to support them.

What would these whiners do if they were in his shoes? If someone cannot see why he HAS to fight them or allow them to ruin this country, they are more ignorant than most of us think they are.

I know Trump would be greatly chastised if he just banned 2 or 3 of these media idiots who seek headlines, but perhaps it would send a message to the rest to ask pertinent question that are not loaded with inuendo.

President Trump is right about the Hostile Press, but I think he could handle them better. He has a new Press Secretary who has been with him since he first ran. I think he should cut off all access to the press and let her handle their questions. No more going to the Rope Line before getting on his Helicopter. No more live Pressers in the Briefing Room. In other words, they will figure out you reap what you sow. Treat him with no respect at all and you will lose your fifteen seconds of fame. The ability to re-run those clips on CNN and MSNBC for days will be gone! It will be a gentle reminder, from Trump, that he is NOT required to speak directly to them. He has a great new Spokesperson to do that for him!

The woman who complained about his tone obviously is a Democrat. He stands in front of the Press day after day listening to their stupid questions over and over again and tries to keep his cool. I don't blame him for hitting back at them when they do not show any respect for him or the Presidency. They take pride in arguing with him as if it makes them look important. It only makes them look like fools especially when they ask the same question over and over. They are not trying to get facts; they are trying to get him to slip up. He is sooooo much smarter than they are.

Yes, he certainly does stand in front of the press day after day listening to their stupid questions. But the thing is: He doesn't HAVE to. He could easily avoid that in so many ways, such as allowing his press secretary to deal with the press. So my question is WHY does he do that?
Nobody can claim to know why except Trump himself. Perhaps he personally wants to defend himself. Or perhaps he actually enjoys the clashes. Or maybe he thinks letting the people see the press' lack of respect for him and his office will help us see what he's up against. Or heck, maybe he sees an advantage in playing The Victim. Or could it be that he likes to keep things in a constant state of agitation---like a reality show? Who knows.
What I DO know is that this kind of unending, accelerating conflict affects people differently. Some want to see him bash the media upside the head. And keep doing it until they surrender, hands up, bloodied face. Others wish he'd circumvent the whole mess and fight outside of the swamp, not in it. Still others think he should take the high road and speak only of Presidential things, not giving the media the belligerent-appearing video clips they seemingly want so badly. I also know some major former supporters/donors whom he has turned off completely with his behavior. Guess what? All of these opinions and far more are valid.
He does seem to prefer keeping an already emotionally-charged and fearful public in a constant state of agitation. For me personally, it's too much right now and so although I remain a supporter, I basically can't listen to the news anymore.

It is upsetting. Less is more, Mr. President. The press can be contradicted, just doesn’t have to be constant.

George Bush rarely pushed back against a less hostile press. See where that got him.

Please God, deliver us from touchy feely cuckservative virtue signalling. Passive aggressive people on either side of the aisle are some of the absolute worst IMO. Plenty of them though were front and center during the Bush years. I blame them and their doormat attitude for getting Obama elected for 8 years. Like most parents know, if you do not challenge bad behavior in your kids, it only gets worse. The media is nothing more than lying, smearing, fear mongering infantiles masked as adults.
What I really want to know is why that NJ caller supports lying, smears and complete falsehoods? She does, and proves it by her own 'tone'.

Why is it that these people, and others, never complain about the tone of the press? Answer: They like a nasty, rude press due to their TDS! The word ''democrat'' represents nasty, rude people. On top of that, they have the TDS virus!

When PDT is re-elected, he will have to have Mike from “My Pillow Guy” retro fit his pillow factory yet again to make straight-jackets for the left as they will go insane when the realize that all of us will get to have our great president for another four glorious years.

W. Bush was very civil and nice to the media. Still is and to tell the truth W. finally looks and sounds like the fool he is.

Yes, the Press has been nasty to this President and they are being fed their questions by political operatives, I believe. Doubt most are smart enough to ask good questions. Have you seen them all there looking at their phones while he's speaking, I think they are receiving text messages on what to ask next.
Funny thing, he answers all the questions, regardless, and takes them on nearly every day. Yet they want to say he's not stable, but is able to answer them in simple terms in nearly every subject.
He could learn how to dodge some of the questions, and defer to others to reply, or update. Learn how to deflect many of the stupid questions. I think it will help him expand his base of support and help down-ticket Republicans.

That woman was a plant. President Trump has a right to defend himself as long as he doesn't lace it with profanities like I would probably do. The President is a gentleman but that runs out when the press is in the room they are up to no good.
President Trump should have responded with "you want me to act like George Bush and get stomped into the ground for not speaking up"? Bush didn't get any respect from the press as his poll numbers fell until he left the office.
In the eyes of the enemy press President Trump can't do anything that would please them so he doesn't need to as long as we back him and trust him to do what's right for the country. I don't care about the press and media.

Apparently some Democrats are now saying that bringing up and comparing himself to Abraham Lincoln as being treated so badly, is another instance of President Trump being wrong as Lincoln was assassinated!

I saw that woman and heard the question. My view is Hillary put her up to it. She is a can't we all just get along and no mean boys allowed to bully the other kids on the playground left-wing old hag. Obviously uncomfortable around a real man standing up for himself and throwing punches defending himself from attacks from others who would like nothing more than to make him look bad. I was in a Navy Fighter Squadron, and during training missions when it was time to begin an aerial dogfight the flight leader would holler out on his radio "Fights on!", and it was! Fights on Mr President. and we've got your six.

President Trump is a LOT more restrained than I would be. Peter Fonda is where he belongs now, but if somehow I were in President Trumps shoes when that scummy second rate actor said the things he said about my son, Fonda would have died a lot sooner than he did. As for the continual lies by the 'reporters' like acosta and their puppet masters, this President needs more support than he has. The media brainwashing leads to assaults on innocents and real long term damage to all of us. The lame defense of they have to get viewers and sell their product doesn't offset purposeful lying and hard core sedition.

I watched the whole thing yesterday. I distinctly heard the woman say she and her husband backed the president and prayed for him every day, but wondered why he had to be confrontational. I thought she was trying to tell him he might get more independent votes if he was less confrontational. He does sound like a victim with thin skin when he keeps up with the poor me. Most posters think it’s just fine. As for Bush, #13, where did being nice get him? Two terms, that’s where. I just hope Trump gets that second term because any democrat would be a disaster.
