ALBANY — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo this fall talked with some of his top political advisers about whether to consider a run for the White House if former Vice President Joseph Biden dropped out of the race, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.
The discussions, which predated former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg saying he was considering a run, began after Biden, Cuomo’s ally and friend, appeared to fade in the Democratic primary debates and on the campaign trail this fall, the sources said. National media reports had described Biden as tired after the June debate and

There is a new Democratic front-runner in Iowa, and his name is Pete Buttigieg. The mayor of South Bend, Indiana, holds a clear lead in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, climbing to 25% in a new CNN/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll of likely Iowa caucusgoers. That marks a 16-point increase in support for Buttigieg since the September CNN/DMR poll. This survey comes on the heels of other recent polls that have shown Buttigieg joining the top tier of the Democratic primary race in Iowa. Behind Buttigieg, there is a close three-way battle for second with Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren

Amid increased calls from House Republicans to force the testimony of the CIA “whistleblower”, today the Washington Post, the primary outlet for CIA misinformation and public relations, began shaping the “whistle-blower” as a hero.
Because the overall effort involves multiple parts of the deep state apparatus, to see through the construction it is important to note which media outlet holds equity for agency talking points within the coup. The Washington Post is primary PR for the CIA and IC writ large. The New York Times is primary PR for the FBI; and CNN is primary PR for the State Dept. This pattern has been consistent throughout.

The White House is blaming Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman for misleading reporters about the contents of an April 21 phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Pope Francis has said that politicians who rage against homosexuals, gypsies and Jews remind him of Hitler.
'It is not coincidental that at times there is a resurgence of symbols typical of Nazism,' Francis said in an address to participants of an international conference on criminal law.

There's been much ado about how Gen Z and millennials are slagging off baby boomers with the quip "OK boomer."
Turns out there's another generational feud brewing.
Gen Z has taken to calling Gen X — once a mere bystander in the generational wars — the "Karen generation," as in Karen, the middle-aged white mom who is always asking for the manager and wondering why kids are so obsessed with their identities.
Karens are generally "privileged from the system the boomers set up for them and [are] now acting entitled and working against Gen Z,"

Democrats failed to present the public with any evidence that President Donald Trump should be impeached in their first round of public hearings this week, White House Senior Advisor for Strategy Tony Sayegh told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview on Saturday. Sayegh, who has been brought in by Trump to handle messaging in response to the Democrats’ partisan impeachment inquiry alongside former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, made the case that the Democrats’ three “star witnesses” on Wednesday and Friday failed to bolster the Democrats’ case for impeachment—and instead actually helped the president’s case and the GOP case against the inquiry.

Sometimes, a brief moment in time, however trivial, can remain perpetually with you. One such moment beamed its way into my consciousness around 1979. One day my brother picked me up in my parent’s Gran Torino. Heading home, windows open, wind blowing on my suntanned face, I experienced the most profound and dazzling sensation of my life. It was freedom. I basked in the realization that this notion of sweet liberty was allowable

The Ruling Class hates the lesser mortals who populate the realm they think they rightly rule. When Flyover Country forced Donald Trump on them as president, the outrage that was born of the initial shock grew into outright disdain for those put him into power. “For decades, hospitals, insurance companies, lobbyists, and special interests have hidden prices from consumers so they could drive up costs for you,” Trump said. “And you had no idea what was happening. You’d get bills that were unbelievable and you have no idea why.”
The finalized price transparency rule, implemented in January 2021, requires hospitals to disclose negotiated rates with insurance companies.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Protesters angered by Iran’s 50 percent increase of government-set gasoline prices blocked traffic in major cities and occasionally clashed with police Saturday, after a night of demonstrations punctuated by gunfire, in violence that reportedly killed at least one person.
The protests put renewed pressure on Iran’s government as it struggles to overcome the U.S. sanctions strangling the country after President Trump unilaterally withdrew America from Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers. Though largely peaceful, demonstrations devolved into violence in several instances, with online videos purporting to show police officers firing tear gas at protesters and mobs setting fires.

During a portion of an interview with CBS released on Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stated that President Trump’s tweet about former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch was designed to “undermine” Yovanovitch and that President Trump’s “insecurity” means that “he has to diminish everyone else.”Pelosi said Trump was tweeting about Yovanovitch because “he knows — he made a mistake, and he knows her strength, and he was trying to undermine it. Of course, presidents appoint ambassadors, but people don’t insult people, especially when they’re giving testimony before the Congress of the United States.”Host Margaret Brennan asked Pelosi about the debate over whether Trump

A State Department aide testifying behind closed doors on Friday confirmed to House impeachment investigators that he overheard President Trump asking a top U.S. diplomat about political investigations that he was seeking from the president of Ukraine. The official, David Holmes, was the aide mentioned Wednesday by William Taylor, the acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, as having overheard a phone call between Gordon Sondland, the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, and Trump. According to Taylor's testimony, a member of his staff — later identified as Holmes — was with Sondland in Kiev when he overheard Sondland speaking to Trump on July

On Friday, Attorney General William P. Barr delivered the 19th Annual Barbara K. Olson Memorial Lecture at the Federalist Society's 2019 National Lawyers Convention.
The most significant part of the speech, to me, was when Barr slammed the political left for their endless attacks on Trump, and their bogus narrative that Trump is subverting the Constitution.
"One of the ironies of today is that those who oppose this President constantly accuse this Administration of “shredding” constitutional norms and waging a war on the rule of law. When I ask my friends on the other side, what exactly are you referring to? I get vacuous stares,

TAMPA — From the moment the NFL announced its hasty plan for a Colin Kaepernick workout this weekend, the questions have been flying.
After all this time, why the sudden rush? Did some team request this? How many general managers will show up? Is this simply a ploy for atonement by the NFL?
Yet, around here, a more important question needs to be asked:
Can Kaepernick help the Buccaneers?
It’s an interesting and legitimate question with, at this point, no clear answer. Kaepernick has not been in an NFL uniform in nearly three years so it’s worth wondering if his skills have atrophied.

Donald Tusk has been ridiculed for suggesting that Brexit marks the end of the British Empire. But he has a point. January 31, 2020 – assuming the date doesn’t move again – should finally bring to a close Britain’s involvement in colonial delusion. And that is exactly why we are right to leave.
Like the British Empire, the European Union is an exercise in patrician rule and one which is sustained by an unshakeable sense of moral and cultural superiority. How better to sum up its pretensions to be more than a mere trade bloc, or even a superstate, than the words of Tusk himself,

From cities that never sleep to remote rural villages, one technology is changing how we live and work. From the smartphones in our pockets to the vast datacentres powering the internet, from electric scooters to hypersonic aircraft, pacemakers to weather-predicting supercomputers – inside every one of them, unseen and unsung, are tiny pieces of tech that make it all possible: semiconductors.
These are the basic building blocks of modern computation. Semiconductor devices called transistors are the tiny electronic switches that run computations inside our computers. Scientists in the US built the first silicon transistor in 1947. Before that, the mechanics of computing had been performed by vacuum tubes,

Sen. Kamala Harris, whose campaign cut staff in a dramatic restructuring last month, is now polling at just 3 percent, tying her with Michael Bloomberg for fifth place among the Democratic Party’s presidential nominees -- according to a poll released Friday -- even though Bloomberg hasn't even formally announced his 2020 candidacy. And now Harris may be facing another problem: A second report Friday described internal strife at Harris’ Baltimore campaign headquarters, with several aides calling for campaign manager Juan Rodriguez’s resignation following his late October decision to lay off field staffers in several states and dedicate Harris' already dwindling

WASHINGTON—Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has unveiled sweeping tax proposals that would push federal tax rates on some billionaires and multimillionaires above 100%. That prospect raises questions for taxpayers and the broader economy that experts are starting to ponder: Under which circumstances would taxpayers have to pay those rates? How might that change their behavior? And would investment and economic growth suffer? Potential tax rates over 100% could result from the combination of tax increases the Massachusetts senator proposes for the very top tier of investors. She wants to return the top income-tax rate to 39.6% from 37%, impose

In 2018, Alaska elected conservative state Sen. Mike Dunleavy as the state’s 12th governor. Dunleavy’s story is pretty straightforward: he legislated as a conservative, campaigned as a conservative, and for the last year has governed as a conservative.
In Alaska in 2019, “governing” has meant fiscal seriousness. Everyone knows the story. As the price of oil has fallen, so have tax revenues derived from oil leases. The state’s larger-than-expected budget shortfall is not anyone’s fault, but it is elected officials’ responsibility to deal with it.

LOS ANGELES -- Eerie doorbell camera footage that captured a distressed woman's pleas for help from a passing vehicle has prompted an investigation by police in Los Angeles, according to KTLA. A possible kidnapping was reported in the 3800 block of Third Avenue at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, but officers who responded couldn't find any evidence of a crime, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez.

Texas' highest criminal court halted Rodney Reed's execution Friday afternoon, sending the now-famous case back to the trial court to further review several claims — biggest of all that he is innocent of the murder that landed him on death row more than 20 years ago.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals' ruling came hours after the state's parole board separately recommended Gov. Greg Abbott delay Reed's Wednesday execution by 120 days. The court's ruling effectively preempts any gubernatorial involvement since it takes Reed's execution off the calendar and starts a new legal process.
Reed's case has gained an enormous amount of attention — with dozens of state and federal lawmakers

Disgruntled fired US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch testified on Friday on day two of the Adam Schiff show trial.

Until a month or so ago, virtually no one outside of the seven circles of hell that is the State Department had heard of Marie Yovanovitch. Even the intrepid John Solomon had not heard of her until March of this year. He had interviewed Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko who told him that Yovanovitch gave him a "do not prosecute" list the first time he met with her. He was angered by her list which he justifiably saw it as interference in Ukraine's government. He felt she was meddling in their anti-corruption investigations by telling him who should not be investigated.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has been stalling in polls, announced a two-step plan Friday aimed at escaping from the healthcare trap she has gotten herself in. But in reality, the new proposal is likely to blow up in her face.
To this point in her presidential campaign, Warren has allied with Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont to stake out an extreme position by insisting that anything short of a $34 trillion overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, which would require kicking 180 million people off of private insurance, was insufficient. In doing so, she has railed against plans from other candidates, including former Vice President Joe Biden

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, amid the largely laughable testimony of the diplomats — can you say heavy on the hearsay, guys? — came out with her own largely laughable conclusion of all that hearsay testimony and said: President Donald Trump is guilty of bribery.
She even found him guilty of confessing to bribery.
Who knew Pelosi, at her advanced age, could perform so many contortions? This has to be the greatest acrobatic spin in political history. “The bribe,” she said, in a widely reported news conference on the heels of the first public impeachment hearing, “is to grant or withhold military assistance in return for a public statement

Several black leaders in South Carolina who were listed as supporters of the Buttigieg campaign’s “Douglass Plan” distanced themselves from the proposal and the campaign when pressed for comment, saying that the campaign was “intentionally vague” in asking for their endorsements.
According to a report from The Intercept, three South Carolina black leaders — Columbia City Councilwoman Tameika Devine, Rehoboth Baptist pastor and state Representative Ivory Thigpen, and Johnnie Cordero, chair of the state party’s Black Caucus — all expressed misgivings over the way that the Buttigieg campaign featured their names prominently in an open letter published in the the HBCU Times touting the plan’s details.

Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden told President Trump to “shut up” after the commander in chief asked the Supreme Court to bar the release of his tax returns.
Biden, the former vice president, referenced Trump’s repeated calls to stop corruption in countries like Ukraine, which has become the center of the current impeachment inquiry.
“@realDonaldTrump, release your taxes or shut up about corruption,” Biden tweeted on Thursday night.
Trump’s lawyers sent a petition to the Supreme Court on Thursday, urging them to hear an appeal after a ruling from a federal appeals court in Manhattan.

Unlike John, I don’t consider the impeachment proceedings against President Trump a farce. However, aspects of the proceedings are farcical.
Today, while Marie Yovanovitch, ambassador to Ukraine until Trump sacked her, was testifying before Adam Schiff’s committee, the president tweeted some negative things about her. He wrote:
Everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad. She started off in Somalia, how did that go? Then fast forward to Ukraine, where the new Ukrainian President spoke unfavorably about her in my second phone call with him. It is a U.S. President’s absolute right to appoint ambassadors.
This is mild stuff by Trumpian standards. However, Democrats promptly,

Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick's entry into the 2020 Democratic presidential race is drawing renewed scrutiny toward his efforts to oust officials who had tried to put his brother-in-law, a convicted rapist, on the state's sex offender registry.
Patrick's brother-in-law Bernard Sigh was first convicted of spousal rape in 1993 and was again convicted of raping Patrick's sister earlier this year, The Washington Post reported.
Patrick in 2014 said that he had forced out two Sex Offender Registry Board officials over their attempts to overturn a hearing officer's decision to keep Sigh off the registry, arguing that the officials' actions were not appropriate, according to the Post.

So, Adam Schiff, when can we expect this man to take the stand?
Badly undermining Democrats’ impeachment narrative, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko told the press in Kiev on Thursday, “I have never seen a direct relationship between investigations and security assistance.”
That is, between the investigations President Trump wanted into 1) Ukrainian interference in the 2016 campaign and 2) Joe and Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian firm Burisma, on the one hand, and US aid that Trump put on hold this summer, on the other.

Pity the poor billionaires. Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren is vigorously promoting her proposed wealth tax aimed at the super rich whom she says don’t pay their fair share. It isn’t really a “billionaire tax” — the levies kick in at 2% annually on households with a net worth of $50 million, rising to 6% for those with a net worth of a billion dollars or more. And unlike income taxes, this covers every form of wealth and property, even “yachts, jewelry and fine art,” held in the United States or abroad. It takes class warfare to a whole new — and probably illegal — level. Fellow candidate Bernie Sanders

From the view of the White House and some top Republicans, U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart's questioning of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch on Friday was the point where House Democrats' impeachment argument showed the party had "no case" against President Trump.
During Friday's public hearings, Yovanovitvh told Stewart, a Utah Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, that she could supply the panel with no information regarding criminal activity or bribes that President Trump may have been involved with.
Stewart: "I would now feel compelled to ask you, Madam Ambassador, as you sit here before us, very simply and directly, do you have any information

A rather lengthy speech by U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr to the Federalist Society is getting some increased attention today for the specific focus on how the executive branch has been weakened over the past several decades. More specifically, AG Barr discusses how, in the Trump-era, the resistance movement has abdicated their legislative power and responsibility in favor of a politically motivated intent to harm the constitutional executive power. At this library, it’s the patrons that get browsed. The sleek new library at Cornell University has a design flaw that allows people to see up the skirts of anyone browsing for books, students and reports say. The state-of-the-art building—which took more than $21 million to build over five years—features elevated platforms with see-through grated floors that put visitors on full view as people pass below, the students say. “I wore a dress and felt bad about it, discriminated against, like the space wasn’t meant for me,” student Nicole Nomura, 28, told The Post.

The 75-year-old meant no harm when he turned to a group of young men sitting near him on a Metro Transit bus one afternoon last week and asked them to quiet down.
