Donald Trump said Sunday 'more has to be done' to prevent mass shootings. In his first public statement since two mass shooting rocked El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, the president pledged to take action, saying, 'Hate has no place in our country, and we're going to take care of it.' Trump told a small group of reporters that 'a lot of things are in the works' before boarding Air Force One in Morristown, New Jersey. 'We have done much more than most administrations,' Trump contended.

Mental illness is right on the money! At least one was a registered Democrat. Nuff said.

#1: It was in both cases. One Website changed the El Paso shooter's registration to Rep AFTER the fact, but it was originally dem.

Both were registered dims according to what I read. Leftists tried to change the El Paso shooters party affiliation to Republican. Democrat, the party of the end justifying the means.

There was a time----the 60s and before----when actual treatment was available for mental illness. A hospital stay included thorough individual and group therapy with a licensed psychiatrist. It might be months, but the patient was not released until he demonstrated recovery. Today the stay is only as long as the insurance will allow, sometimes only two weeks or less. You might see a psychiatrist for ten minutes twice a week. Nevertheless, you'll be prescribed drugs and expected to snap out of your illness when they take effect. Group therapy might be run by a recovered addict or a social worker intern with no life experience to speak of. You'll get the 12-step immersion whether it suits your illness or not. You must have an outside psychiatrist appointment before you are released, but you'll have to get it yourself on a pay phone, the loud noise of the mental ward interfering with the feeble process. For the ordinary person, there is no effective treatment to be found for mental illness.

Mental illness is an ingredient but it's not the recipe. There are people with mental illness who don't resort to this level of violence. The President makes a valid point but it's only a part of the picture.
Some of these rapid-fire weapons should not be available for purchase by civilians in my view. I cannot see what point they serve in a civil society. One of the prices we pay for a civil society is to hand over some of our rights to the government. The government is always going to be more powerful than we the people because that is the price we pay for a civil society. We already hand over some of our hard-earned cash to them in the name of social cohesion.
The idea that civilians are entitled to have equivalent arms to that of the government is obsolete because technology in weaponry has changed so enormously since the days of the musket.

I will bet money that all of these shooters were either actively taking psychotropic SSRI drugs, or had been at some point in the immediate past..

Both of the shooters are or were mentally unstable individuals who most likely are or were loners who spent the vast majority of their time in their parent’s basements playing violent video games that informed them how to murder as many innocent people as possible. Those are not the type of people who are Trump supporters.

Schizophrenia is a genetic disease - - which erupts mostly in young men in their late teens. When a loving family and attentive doctors are aware of it - - it can be treated and controlled with drugs - - but it never goes away.
When there is no family there to help - - and no doctors are made aware of it - - the unfortunate people who are struck with this terrible disease can lose all mental control. They hear voices which "command" them to do horrible things.
Schizophrenia is very "multicultural" in that it strikes across all ethnicities and races. When left untreated - - it can be very deadly.

#8, feel free to move to china where they already have such a view. Here, it"s past time to repeal the 1968 gca and the 1934 nfa; and the actions of the commies controlling the deep state show exactly why we should fear our fedgov and trim it back drastically. Not to mention some state govs that seem to believe their citizens are subjects to be milked for money.

Sorry #8 but disarming all law abiding citizens is the end result of the (now everyone join me in this next quote, we have heard it from Dem candidates a million times) "common sense gun control" you are preaching. No thanks! Give the left an inch, they will take it all. No compromise.
Gun control nut policies make about as much sense as forcibly turning all men into eunuchs because a tiny percent are rapists.

Sorry #8, but there are millions of the types of weapons you are referring to in the hands of responsible sane law-abiding citizens that will never be used for mass shootings or any type of crime. I, for one, am not willing to give up my Constitutional rights so that your little snowflake sensibilities can sleep easier at night!!!!!
