Kicking off Tuesday's Democratic primary debate hosted by CNN, presidential candidate Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) refused to hold his hand over his heart during the playing of our national anthem. He was the only candidate on stage to do so.(Video/Tweet) Politicos online called out the Democrat for his apparent anthem snub."Tim Ryan can't be bothered to put his hand over his heart for the Star-Spangled Banner?" remarked The Daily Wire's Michael Knowles.

And he’s considered a moderate (by Democrat standards)!

Tim Ryan wants to lead a country he obviously hates. Sounds like another Obama - only white.

Trump should tweet that he should go back to wherever he came from.

OK, so I'm an old coot - I admit that. But when did it become 'the thing to do' to place your hand over your heart for the national anthem? Where I was raised, you placed your hand over your heart for the Pledge, but I don't remember the 'hand over the heart' being a thing during the Anthem until fairly recently - when people didn't know any better started doing it. We removed our hats unless we were in uniform, then we saluted as the flag was raised. Not standing up for Tim Ryan at ALL, but when did this become required Anthem etiquette?

Why bother playing anything patriotic during anything demoslut. The entire party has become anti-American Communists. Every idea they propose is dripping with socialism. As far as I'm concerned, the one clown that didn't put his hand over his heart is the only one not lying about his real feelings about this country.

They can say what they want about the President, but they can't deny his patriotism.
I would not vote for one person on that stage, hand over heart or up someplace else. They are all scary.

The GOP needs a good candidate to run against him & use the video in attack ads.

Isn't holding one's hand over the heart during the national anthem kind of a new thing?

A desperation ploy to get out of asterisk status, the leftist equivalent of a Hail Mary.

Yeah I’m with #4. Since when? Did anyone see an American flag on stage or anywhere in the place? I’m surprised they didn’t have a Palestinian flag or Mexican flag flying.

"One Candidate snubs National Anthem..." The rest wanted to but couldn't overcome their base hypocrisy.

I agree with #4. I wasn't raised to put my hand over my heart for the anthem, only for the pledge.

You only have to stand respectfully for the anthem. It seems that Mr Ryan knows this better than the reporters do.

Well he got everyone’s attention! Fox calls him moderate? Dems love the headline regardless of the reasons.

I'm waiting for the exciting moment when they raise the communist flag. It would certainly fit their party.

I always stand with my hands at my side. I never knew that holding your "hand over your heart" was a requirement.

I’m 66 years old and have always stood with my hand over my heart. Maybe it’s a regional thing. I was raised in the Deep South.

Although Ryan was the sole candidate who didn't put his hand over his heart, some of the other candidates varied as to the part of the body where they placed their hand. Guess not everybody knows where their heart is.

The real face of the Democratic party can be represented in the snubbing the national anthem. They are appealing to people that hate America and hate Americans. Many of the candidates truly identify with them.
That's not moderate.
Calling for the impeachment of President Trump is not moderate.
What a bunch of frauds.

Whether or not they cover their hearts with their right hands, these Democrats snub the national anthem by what they believe and preach. Gesture of respect or not, these Democrats are anti-American.
