U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh ruled with the majority on Monday that iPhone users can sue Apple Inc. over its app prices. Kavanaugh rejected Appleâs argument that consumers could not challenge the companyâs policy of taking a 30 percent commission from its apps and refusing to let consumers purchase iPhone apps from third parties. âIt is undisputed that the iPhone owners bought the apps directly from Apple,â Kavanaugh argued.

Iâm an Apple Developer. If you want your software to install on an Apple Device you pay them $100/year plus 30% of the price you set for your software, and you can only write software on an Apple Computer - so buy one of those as well. Thatâs the deal. Take it, leave it, any programmerâs choice. Apple created every bit of that eco-system, itâs theirs. How does the Government get to Nationalize it and break it? Apple reviews the code before its put on the AppStore and they run the store and distribute the software. They shouldnât get paid for that?

Allowing consumers to sue, does not mean they will win, only that hey get to present their case.

Interesting that a GOP Conservative has to step up to fight Big Tech. The Democrats have abandoned the little guy in favor of Google dollars and Amazon dough.
It used to be that Democrats were uncomfortable with too much power in the hands of Corporations. Now, they are all for it.

Remember prior to Ma Bell getting broken up you had to rent your phone and pay an extra fee each month. You could not buy a phone and hook it up to you line.
Not the same but, pretty close.

Not even allowing consumers to sue smacks of the ´no standing´ gambit used in case of 0bama´s eligibility. The Left/Lib is in the pockets of the Left Coast high tech giants. No surprise there.

There is a major problem in all this, and that is managing the flow and quality of information between parties. As more and more abandon dead tree publications, and depend on electronic means for their news, opinion and personal expression, it place gargantuan power in the hands of the "gatekeepers", who have unlimited power to censor. And because they are private entities, the customers have no apparent Constitutional rights to access or usage.
This is incredibly serious stuff, as mentioned, much more serious than the threat of the Standard Oil trust of a century ago. It can easily become an existential threat to our liberties and freedom - at least those few we haven´t compromised already for "security" and "social justice."

To Reply#1 - This is not about Nationalization or breaking up Apple, it´s about deliberately limiting competition which is illegal in the United States and has been for over 100 years.
The issue at hand is that you have buy apps from Apple exclusively rather than someone else who might only charge 20% allowing consumers to get a competitive price. Apple´s argument is that they simply provide a fixed fee service and the developers are in competitive relationships with each other for selling apps to consumers.
Apple´s hopes rested on a technicality to prevent it from going to the courts. Now that the case will move forward, consumers are likely to win their litigation.

Same way Jimmy Carter broke up the best telephone system in the world #1. Ma Bell built the system, yet Carter let all those other small companies piggy back on what somebody else built.
I don´t agree with monopolies, and Big Tech is a monopoly, but it is what it is. You reap what you sow. Now the Big Tech monopolies are about to reap the whirlwind. People want to be able to shop for bargains, not be forced to buy from one source only.

I didn´t exactly understand Rush´s explanation of this. And I do not completely understand the problem. But I love the idea of who Paul Bradford is--courageous.

#1 I am an Apple developer, too. I built a lot of the technology that makes the App store run. I agree whole heartedly.

I am proud to say I own no Apple products. I do believe we need to take on tech in all areas. Remember the days when you had to buy your landline phone from one of the Bell companies?

I think Justice Kavanaugh saw the truth on this issue. The ideological divide on the court had been played a bit too much...he split with his fellow conservatives because he saw that the liberals had left a huge opening that went across the grain of their traditional dogma by mistake. He stepped in and exercised wisdom and objectivity and a huge dose of highly intelligent savvy. Liberals had to have been astonished and had to be second-guessing their decision on this....and today the truth is beginning to shine through. God bless Justice Kavanaugh for his wisdom and President Trump for picking him.

The best option is to NOT buy Apple products. They are overpriced and do not do anything that the Android phones can do. Android is freedom!
