Residents from one of San Francisco’s most desirable neighborhoods are taking a controversial approach to blocking a new homeless shelter: launching a crowdfunding appeal. Their campaign on GoFundMe—best known as a site that hosts fundraisers for medical expenses or victims of natural disasters—has prompted an angry response from the city’s mayor. It has drawn more than $46,000 dollars, nearly half of its stated $100,000 goal. The money is to go to a local attorney working on behalf of the residents, and its 91 donors include an anonymous contributor who gave $10,000, along with hedge fund managers, executives and authors.

The spot the city wants to do this is smack in the middle of one of the few nice tourist areas left. Across from the Ferry building, Embaracadero, and shops and a place that other than the usual homeless beggars, still feels somewhat safe. This is a terrible idea and location for this. This will be a draw that the druggies, dealers and homeless currently do not have in that area.

This is pretty much the same way they tried to establish things in ancient Rome. San Francisco, a square peg. Civilized cities, a round hole. Keep jamming city leaders.

NIMBY ? Who wants to pay that kind of money to live in peace and have somebody put a shelter in the neighborhood or deter tourism?
Should we be happy they didn´t put them on a bus to our state?

Children, listen up. There once was a city on a hill, beautiful and shining near the sea. Alas, it is no more. It was surrendered to those less interested in its beauty for they have destroyed it.
Goodbye San Francisco.
I´m glad I got to visit you during your glory days. They are in the past never to be revived. The city is nearly in ruins such as those across the way called Alcatraz.
How very sad.

At first glance, the irony is priceless.
Then, considering where they plan to put it, could it be the planner was jealous of the wealthy, and if the planner couldn´t have what they have, he can ruin it for them.

But I thought Obama and the dems wanted this kind of diversity in our neighborhoods?

NIMBY elite have a limit when it comes to diversity if it fouls the sidewalks. Surely these wealthy San Francisans have enough room in their mansionly abodes to invite several of the homeless in for a cup of java or an overnight. Of course the homeless must first scale the walls of those homes if they are to gain entry.

Well, well, well, here´s an example of the truth coming out. The rich don´t want to be soiled with the homeless; they just want their vote. Users and liars!

I would, if I could, set up tent cities in the boondocks for vagrants. Run them the way Sheriff Joe did in Arizona. There is no reason to let these shreds of human debris live in the midst of law-abiding people in our towns and cities. I have zero sympathy for bums.

It´s easy to frame this issue as a "not-in-my-back-yard" piece of hypocrisy on the part of rich folks, but I think the real issue is that a homeless facility in the Embarcadero area that would provide a mere 200 beds for the homeless is a useless, phony, liberal gesture. 200 beds?!! That wouldn´t begin to touch San Francisco´s homeless problem, and would in the long run attract even more street people to the Bay Area. A hundred such projects (why not Ghirardelli Square?) wouldn´t begin to touch San Francisco´s street-feces problem; but leave it to the city´s feces-brained liberals to propose the impossible.

Sadly, like with any place the socialism and lie-beralism gain control, you pretty much have to totally destroy it to save it!!!!
Venezuela is learning that lesson now!!!
San Fornication, sadly, needs to experience the same. Hey, maybe "mother nature" will help and send a nice big earthquake to speed up the process!!!! From the rubble and ashes, you could build a new San Francisco without all the lie-beral insanity and evil!!!

Wealthy San Franciscans love the vaunted homeless; provided they´re kept at a distance. Who could blame them? Proposed site is beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, very close to tourist areas and pricey housing. Try the mayor´s back yard, for starters.
