Cast and crew members from "Hamilton", "A Bronx Tale", "Chicago Fire", and "The Second City" joined the striking musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday. The CSO strike has entered its second week with no end in sight. Concerts are canceled through Monday. (Snip) Illinois´ congressional delegation including Representatives Cheri Bustos, Danny Davis, Bill Foster, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Bobby Rush, Jan Schakowsky and Brad Schneider also joined the striking musicians Tuesday. Congresswoman Schakowsky could be heard telling musicians "Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, just loves you. She couldn´t get here.

You know what boys and girls, you are all free to do something else that society values more than what you do.
You are also free to demand that ticket prices go up to the point where you kill your jobs entirely.

This is truly sad. But the reality is that we no longer teach our children to appreciate music. The next generation just isn´t interested in what happens to these people or their art.
Back in the early 1960´s orchestras, ballets. operas and theater were flourishing in the country. We taught a strong sense of civics and culture in our schools and kids aspired to excellence. But this all seemed to vanish at the same time that liberalism began creeping into the public school systems. They focus on everything but excellence.
If these orchestras and musicians want to survive, they are going to have to try to be relevant to the next generation. The cast of Hamilton will be forgotten in a couple of years because the musical is just a flash in the pan, like "The Greatest Showman". It´s pretty much just, Meh!. Orchestra´s will need to work to appeal to young people instead of assuming that they are revered and adored like they used to be.
Time to grow up. Your demands are falling on deaf ears.

It´s the law of supply and demand.
Just start banging out some disgusting rap noise and the younger idiots will flock to your doorstep. Oh yeah, yell out some ant-Trump phrases during the concert.

Like artists (?) that paint crappy pictures, that don´t sell? They will need to be subsidized by the good old US taxpayer because they are soooo important to the economy, and we can´t live without them. I bet that San Fran Nan loves them, but only to the extent of using taxpayer money to keep them afloat!

Notice how the MSM rarely reports what the salary demands of strikers are? You have dig to find out. In this case, they are being offered a raise in base pay to $167,000 a year, and the average pay is already actually $187,000 a year. Plus, if they do additional work at the CSO Center, the average rises to $209,000. Poor babies.

I worked at In the marketing department of a professional, regional orchestra, for a couple of seasons. Though not all, many classical musicians are akin to elitist lefties: constant complaining, unreasonable demands, vicious verbal attacks on anyone but their fellow comrade musicians, and complete contempt for anyone or anything that is not as culturally evolved as they are. They were a miserable, nasty lot to work with, for the most part, and nothing was their fault...ever.

#3 these ballets, orchestras, and other fine arts events are flourishing more than ever - on our home devices, with superb visual and sound reproduction that can never be experienced at an actual event. And live events on our home devices are better too. And much less costly.

I´m curious. How many blacks actually attend any musical group with the word symphony in the name of the organization? Diddly squat comes close.
