The dreck about Trump ending democracy
American Thinker, by Monica Showalter

Original Article

Swamp regular Admiral James Stavridis has taken his best shot at addressing a phony issue: whether "democracy" is dying, killed off by President Trump, presumably, by offering reassuring words to the left and the Washington establishment about its durability in a cover essay in Time. Axios has the write-up and a photo of the cover. I suppose a lot of them are going to take grim satisfaction from it, given the level of hysteria on the left about President Trump´s very existence. But it rather too cutely frames a canard. The left, including Time magazine, seems all in for the idea that

If we are at risk of becoming a democracy, I sure hope Trump puts an end to it.
Our founders had great fear that this country could decline into a democracy and invested great effort to prevent that horrible outcome.
Luckily we are still a constitutional republic, and hopefully will remain one for a long time.

Of course Trump is going to end democracy.
Our Founders were very familiar with democracy. It leads to mob rule and then to dictatorship. Until very recently we have had a representative republic (we elect representatives to legislate and govern for us).
This began to go away when the Constitution was amended to make members of the Senate elected, rather than appointed by the REPRESENTATIVES of the states.
Then came FDR and the Administrative State. How do a collection of un-elected bureaucrats get to set policy for the rest of us? Look at the "bills" Congress passes. They don´t vote on anything, they just appoint a committee. Too busy raising money for re-election, I guess.
How about term limits for Congress?
Compost is no good if it is not turned over regularly.
Go DJT! MAGA!

Same comments were made about GW Bush and Reagan. Its more of the tired goop the media always throws at Republican Presidents.

As a 30 year military dude myself I wonder why four star Admirals and Generals...and their are quite few...side with Democrats/ Socialists/Commies...I think that their desire for power overrides any sense of decency and patriotism...if Stavridis has issues with President Trump where was his self-righteousness when Obama and HR Clinton were shredding the Constitution and leaving people to die in Benghazi...I doubt he made a peep...he wants to be the military authority in the Bernie Sanders or Kamala Harris administration...good grief

I have to thank posters 1 and 2 for stating the obvious. We do not live in a democracy, but in a republic (read Plato). That simple fact makes me wonder why the Democrat Party is named as it is. Have they read the Constitution?

Long-simmering ethnic tensions in a party increasingly defined by identity politics could erupt if Nancy Pelosi’s mental decline forces her to bow out of her leadership of the Democrats’ House Caucus. With African-Americans the largest loyal base constituency, the fact that there has never been a black minority leader, much less speaker, the choice of her successor could split the party. Potentially at stake is the Speakership that could result if the longed-for Blue Wave produces a Democrat House majority. Kyle Olsen of The American Mirror red flags Pelosi’s latest lapse into incoherence at a podium. Speaking to reporters Thursday, Pelosi suffered

The Washington Post disgraced itself again, this time by making up a quote by U.S. United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and after getting called out about it, promising to correct it ... and then, not correcting it, at least, not until Haley had to get after them to keep their promises, just as their mothers must have had to get them to make their beds. Get a load: U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley demanded on Saturday that a Washington Post reporter “retract” his claim that she said there were 250,000 U.S. citizens living in poverty. Sometimes, photos shock the conscience. Such as this one, from a little town in northeast Venezuela called Cantaura, posted on Twitter by a young Venezuelan woman, Stephanie Nogales: Nogales, who posted it, says it is real. Which is why it´s so shocking. How could this exist? How could someone be so alone and forsaken and without food? That there is actually someone in our hemisphere who walks the earth in that emaciated condition, brought on by weeks and weeks of no food, a living skeleton, so utterly impoverished of flesh and clothes it´s impossible to tell if the person is a

So Donald Trump went to a NATO summit, insulted our allies, then made the absurd demand not just that they increase defense spending — which they should — but that they raise it to 4 percent of G.D.P., much higher than the bloated military spending in his own budget. He then claimed, falsely, to have won major concessions, and graciously declared that it is “presently unnecessary” to consider quitting the alliance. Was there anything our allies could have done that would have mollified him? The answer, surely, is no. For Trump, disrupting NATO doesn’t seem to be a means to an

Corporate Correctness: Starbucks won raves from environmentalists for its ban on straws. But while a strawless Starbucks won´t do anything to help the environment, it will discriminate against the disabled. Virtue signaling can be a tricky business. Under pressure from environmentalists, the coffee giant says that it will replace plastic straws with sippy-cup style lids at all of its stores by 2020. The company isn´t the first to do so, although it is the biggest. Hilton and Marriott hotels said they´re removing plastic straws at many of their hotels. Hawaii County Fire Department Battalion Chief Jesse Michael Ebersole pleaded guilty in federal court this afternoon to conspiring with deputy prosecutor Katherine Kealoha to lie about their affair to a federal grand jury and has agreed to cooperate in the prosecution of Kealoha and her husband, retired Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha. Ebersole, 49, faces a maximum five-year prison term for conspiracy. Because federal prosecutors are relying on his cooperation to prosecute the Kealohas, Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Beste asked U.S. District Chief Judge J. One side benefit of President Trump´s attendance at the NATO Summit has been the opportunity to view the huge and lavish new headquarters building the organization proudly opened a couple of months ago. John Roberts of Fox News tweeted out his reaction to the vast atrium-like lobby that the new building sports: For its part, NATO has proudly published a series of photographs of the vast edifice, noting that it facilitates what all government bureaucracies do: consult with

This is consequential if you are a Democrat, because she utterly refuses to step aside as leader of her party. In fact, she´s convinced everyone loves her. Look at this landscape of apparent dementia, based on her hour-long interview with Rolling Stone. Asked about her leadership and the pressure from Democrats for her step down, Pelosi replied: I think some of it is a little bit on the sexist side – although I wouldn´t normally say that. The indictment Friday of 12 Russian military officers for the election hacks against the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign lends a surprising new detail to the 2016 election interference timeline: The Kremlin’s hackers apparently still maintained a foothold in the DNC’s network four months after the Democrats announced that they’d locked the intruders out. Until today, the story of the DNC hack ended promptly on June 14, 2016, when the Democrats went public with the intrusion in the pages of the Washington Post, and Crowdstrike, the security firm hired to respond to the breach, published a detailed technical account. Americans are encouraged to embrace diversity and be culturally sensitive to those who have flouted our laws and invaded our nation. Meanwhile, illegal aliens arriving in America have no such requirement. Instead, trespassing tribes relocate, and when they do, rather than assimilate, they transfer habits and activities indigenous to the countries from whence they migrated. Thus, Americans suffer from illnesses that are easily traceable to third-world bathroom habits (TWBH) and lack of hygiene in the developing world.
