Papa John’s founder resigns as
chairman amid n-word scandal

New York Post, by Joe Tacopino

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 7/12/2018 5:04:06 AM

Papa John’s founder John Schnatter resigned as the company’s chairman on Wednesday night after fallout over his use of the n-word during a conference call. The company released a statement that said the directors had accepted Schnatter’s resignation. “Papa John’s will appoint a new Chairman in a couple of weeks,” the statement read. Forbes reported earlier on Wednesday that Schnatter used the n-word on a conference call in May. The call was specifically designed as a role-playing exercise to prevent future public-relations disasters. “Colonel Sanders called blacks n—–s,” Schnatter said, before complaining that Sanders never faced public backlash.

Not all blacks are ******s, but there are some, like Wigs Waters, who match the stereotype exactly.

Sad that he is the founder of the company, forced to resign for one word spoken on a conference call. Who was in on the call? Who objected? Who tattled on him? Such a huge penalty for saying one verboten word. And think about the words so many celebrities get away with saying, not only saying, but calling actual people these words.

Not enough info in the article. It references Col Sanders, and what he said. Was that the infraction? If so, it was taken way out of context. So on top of fake news we also have a dearth of poor writing in the MSM.

Agree that this is stupid ... are we now not allowed to quote what others have expressed? The originator of the expressed verbiage should be who held to task, not other people who are simply discussing it.

If this is all there is to it I am inclined to think that John is looking for a new challenge. He should resign with the parting shot "I´m having lunch at Dominoes!"

Take some time off and plan, plot, and design a new business that will always remain in your complete control with ZERO ability of anybody to cause you to resign.

Do they remove every black person in the organization caught using the word?
Or are they a racist organization that places special rules that only apply to particular races?
I suspect the latter. That they believe blacks are not intelligent enough to be expected to be able to control what they say so are given a pass.

It´s asking too much for people to understand the "use-mention" distinction. That´s why they can´t tell us, directly, what the guy said. If they did, they would be fired, too. Instead, we have the ridiculous circumlocution that it was a word, that we all know, that starts with "N".

The lesson here is to never forget how many people are gormless automatons.

Thinking about it, I suspect the real goal is to make sure that the word stays in our vocabulary rather than dying a natural death.
saying or typing "n-word" and a person reflexively hears the real word in their head. It is a method of reinforcing use of the word.

President Donald Trump chose to have the indictments of 12 Russian hackers announced before his Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a Tuesday Bloomberg report. Trump wanted the indictments announced ahead of the Monday summit to give him leverage over Putin, a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg on Tuesday. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein gave Trump the option of having the indictments released before or after Helsinki, according to the report. Rosenstein cited national security concerns to allow him to share details of grand jury proceedings with Trump. Rosenstein announced Friday that a grand jury had indicted 12
