Rosenstein Asks Prosecutors to Help

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

The democrats directing Rosenstein to slow things down the process under the guise of trying to be thorough?

McConnell better have the process streamlined with the Senate rules to ensure a smooth process, and not let it get bogged down in democrat delay tactics. Limit the debate times too.
They´ve had months to do their opposition research.

It does look bad. Kavanaugh has a massive paper trail. This might be the most expedient method of forming a team to gather and review documents. Finding 100 qualified attorney´s on short notice is probably tough even in Washington. These attorneys will be vetted and if selected they will be supervised by the DOJ´s Office of Legal Policy.

The Senate ought to demand that Sessions remove Rosenstein from the process. I have been interviewed by the FBI regarding several judicial nominations of judges who had been on the bench for more than 15 years each. No one needs to review 1 million documents for a background check. This is purely for delay.

It´s all about delay, delay, delay and giving the appearance that we´ll find something "right around the corner". Also known as the Mueller plan.

Democrats hope that they can delay this until after this fall´s elections. The problem is that they will likely lose a couple senate seats and be in worse shape.

SESSIONS should fire him immediately and if he doesn´t, SESSIONS should be fired. What in the world is Trump thinking allowing Rosenstein to run wild like this. It is making Sessions look like the AG in name only and Trump weak because he hasn´t fired them a long time ago.

Pardon the second post. The Dems have pulled this before. There was already an extensive DOJ background check of Judge Kavanaugh prior to his confirmation to the DC Circuit, which the Democrats managed to delay for three years following his nomination by President Bush. This is as ugly as it gets. McConnell should set a deadline for the vote and stick to it, regardless of the minority´s demand for more time.

NEW YORK — Starbucks is going strawless. The coffee company announced Monday that it will phase out plastic straws from all of its stores by 2020. The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. Email Scandal: Last week we learned that a "foreign entity" may have been secretly receiving Hillary Clinton´s emails while she was Secretary of State, including many that contained classified information. And that the FBI apparently ignored this information during its "investigation." The reaction by the press to this bombshell? Crickets. At one point during Peter Strzok´s congressional testimony last week, Rep. Louie Gohmert made a stunning claim: FBI investigators were told that Clinton´s emails had been surreptitiously forwarded to a "foreign entity." And the FBI investigators who were allegedly conducting a thorough, unbiased, professional probe into Clinton´s

House Democrats are now pivoting away from their “Better Deal” slogan, according to Politico. In a private meeting Wednesday, House Democrats announced that they will be employing the new slogan “For the People” in the 2018 midterm elections. “We have 110 days from right now until Election Day and we will be spending the month of August in our home districts and we wanted to make sure we are singing from the same song sheet on the three top issues,” Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL), co-chair of House Democrats’ messaging arm, told Politico. The new slogan will accompany a focus on

A video has emerged showing Melania Trump apparently looking horrified after shaking Vladimir Putin´s hand during her husband´s summit with the Russian president. Putin can be seen smiling and nodding in the clip as he is introduced to Melania by President Trump in Helsinki, Finland on Monday. Melania, who is a few inches taller than the ex-spy strongman, also smiles during the handshake in an apparently natural way. (Video/Photos) But as soon as Putin releases her hand and diverts his attention elsewhere, Melania pulls a bizarre face representing what appears to be her shock or horror. She widens her eyes

If there´s anything that lays out how arrogant and entitled the Democratic Party is, take a look at how many Democratic grandees´ feathers are being ruffled by Democratic Socialist "it girl" Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated a ten-term Democratic incumbent in their Bronx-Queens congressional district earlier this month and who now outshines them all. It´s not that her socialism or her ignorance of world affairs bothers them, the way it does us. It´s that she´s showing bad machine politics sense, the one thing that keeps Democrats going in the absence of being able to admit they actually are all a bunch
