Stateless and Poor, Some Boys in Thai
Cave Had Already Beaten Long Odds

New York Times, by Hannah Beech

MAE SAI, Thailand — Adul Sam-on, 14, has never been a stranger to peril. At age 6, Adul had already escaped a territory in Myanmar known for guerrilla warfare, opium cultivation and methamphetamine trafficking. His parents slipped him into Thailand, in the hopes that proper schooling would provide him with a better life than that of his illiterate, impoverished family. But his greatest escape came on Tuesday, when he and 11 other members of a youth soccer team, along with their coach, were all finally freed from the Tham Luang Cave in northern Thailand, after an ordeal stretching more than two weeks. Thank you so much for posting. Stateless and poor indeed. But fluent in 5-6 languages. I can’t help but wonder how many of our city soccer teams would fare in such challenging circumstances.

It´s the NY Times. Leave it to them to find an immigration hook for this story. Read with large grains of salt handy and don´t trust a single "fact".

This article is what used to be called a “Human Interest Story”. It tugs at your heart strings. But No. 2 has it right. Let’s make this about how wonderful immigration is.

Next, we´ll hear how tragic it was that they missed most of the World Cup games, but how thrilled they are to be out in time for the finals.

The Rise of the Abortion Cheerleaders
National Review Online, by Heather Wilhelm    Original Article

Is abortion a sad and unfortunate reality — regrettable, as we are sometimes told, but often necessary — or is it a breezy nothingburger, completely “normal,” and something to be giddily celebrated like a last-minute NFL touchdown? For a long time, the abortion lobby has had difficulty deciding. This summer, it seems that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh — and the rising feverish chatter surrounding the possible demise of Roe v. Wade — might just push the pro-abortion movement over the edge. By now perhaps you’ve seen the horror show cooked up by Michelle Wolf, the Netflix star best known for

The mercurial veteran GOP political operative, Roger Stone, has acknowledged that he is the unnamed Trump campaign regular who corresponded with an alleged Russian hacker, as described in a new indictment against a dozen Russians returned Friday by a federal grand jury. The indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller targets 12 Russian intelligence officers for engaging in a sustained effort to hackDemocrats and aides to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. All 12 defendants are members of Russia´s intelligence service, according to the court filing. The reference to a “U.S. person” who

Some veterans in Tennessee say they´re planning a protest march following a congressman´s comment this week that embattled FBI official Peter Strzok deserved a Purple Heart for enduring a House panel´s grilling over allegations of bias against President Donald Trump. Sean Higgins, an Air Force veteran from Memphis, is leading the upcoming march, the Tennessean reported. Higgins told the paper that many constituents of Democratic U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen are “pissed as hell” after Cohen said Strzok deserved the military award. “How do you compare someone getting wounded in combat to someone getting in trouble for

If the corrupt Democrats in the FBI and the DOJ have nothing to hide in the investigation of their attempted coup against Donald Trump, then why did their congressional enablers attempt to hijack the FBI corruption hearing yesterday? Point of order! Point of order! Roll call vote! Mr. Chairman, may the witness be permitted to lie … I mean, answer the question! Point of parliamentary inquiry! After hours of “testimony” from Peter Strzok, the most dishonest agent in the squalid history of the FBI, it becomes clear what the Mueller “investigation” is really all about. Subtlety not being Donald Trump’s customary approach to his job, his nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court was a surprisingly artful political play. For the many Trump supporters who delight in the president’s thumb-in-the-eye approach, the court vacancy was an opportunity for Trump to actually earn the prefab fulminations from Democrats, which were coming no matter whom he chose, by selecting a nominee that another Republican president might have deemed too risky. The option preferred by this group was Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose presence on Trump’s short list caused palpitations on both sides of

Three Democratic congressmen declared on Thursday that they will vote “no” on their own legislation if House Speaker Paul Ryan puts their bill on the floor. Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York introduced the Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement Act earlier Thursday, which would abolish ICE within one year of enactment, and also assemble a commission tasked with setting up a new immigration enforcement agency. Hours later, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he planned to bring the proposed “Abolish ICE” bill to the floor, reported The Hill. The three congressmen promptly released a

FBI agent Peter Strzok was full of indignant outrage Thursday as he testified before Congress, and all sides reacted accordingly. Their lawsuit claimed the asbestos in the product contributed to the women’s ovarian cancer. And so it speaks well of New York magazine that it is willing to publish two points of view on what seems to be that most pressing of questions, which is, "Are Men Beasts?" On the "yes" side, Rebecca Traister weighed in on June 29, describing herself and her friends as "Panicking. Nauseated. Heads and hearts pounding" at the coming retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy and the thought of his replacement by our own homegrown class of despotic oppressors: white men. The indictment Friday of 12 Russian military officers for the election hacks against the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign lends a surprising new detail to the 2016 election interference timeline: The Kremlin’s hackers apparently still maintained a foothold in the DNC’s network four months after the Democrats announced that they’d locked the intruders out. Until today, the story of the DNC hack ended promptly on June 14, 2016, when the Democrats went public with the intrusion in the pages of the Washington Post, and Crowdstrike, the security firm hired to respond to the breach, published a detailed technical account.
