Mitch McConnell Is the Master
of Confirming Judges

Wall Street Journal, by Fred Barnes

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 7/10/2018 8:12:29 AM

The ball is in Mitch McConnell’s court again. He guided Neil Gorsuch to a seat on the Supreme Court with ease in 2017. He’s a perfect 21 for 21 in confirming the federal appeals-court nominees of President Trump, with more to come this year. Given the thin margin he has to work with, this is impressive. Mr. McConnell adopted as his top priority as Senate majority leader an ambitious effort to make the federal courts more conservative—from top to bottom. There’s only one way to do this—fill every judicial vacancy with a conservative. For Mr. McConnell, this is a war.

Comments:
Not much argument to be had with success.

First, hold confirmation hearings and votes through the August recess. Put the spotlight on those vulnerable Dems concerning their vote on judges. And then remind tge pro abortion Collins and Murkowski that when a new, more Rebublincan Senate is seated in Jan, the will pay a price for blocking judges.

Someone please explain this to me. It is becoming readily apparent that the most important thing to the left is the "right" to kill babies. All they can talk about is Roe v Wade. This is a sick world we live in, at least the left half is.

This will sail through. No Republican (including Flake) will stand in the way of confirmation. Any would be the deciding vote, and no politician ever wants to be that guy, especially when it involves a high level of "betrayal". Payback within the Senate and at the ballot box would be a "problem". (Jumpin´ Jim Jeffords retired after his act.) I fully expect a few Dems to crossover, if they are not the deciding vote.

If you thought you were iffy on Trump and the Republicans holding the majority....

Think again and what it would be like with Hillary nominating two liberal/progressive judges looking to the U.N. for guidance on how to rule, and use for precedent.

Imagine her nominating hundreds of other Federal justices to ensure they were held to political obligation to rule on issues the way of the liberal/progressive agenda.

Senator Flake is among those most likely to vote for confirmation. His opposition to Trump, and Trump´s policies generally, is an indication of Flake´s traditional conservative views.

The Peter Strzok hearing was a travesty, starting with the fact that he testified as a cocooned, lawyered-up government employee still working for the FBI. It is outrageous that he hasn’t been fired yet. He even still has a security clearance! That alone is proof of the deep state’s hold on certain executive branch agencies. If the FBI keeps its so-so employees close, it keeps its worst employees even closer. That Strzok could huddle with FBI lawyers while stonewalling a Republican-led committee speaks to the corruption of official Washington and the comparative impotence of Republican administrations. Former President Barack Obama lost more than 2 million Twitter followers on Thursday as the social-networking platform launched a new crackdown on fake accounts, according to a preliminary analysis from The Daily Beast. At press time, the Twitter purge had cost Obama 2,346,119 followers, or more than two percent of his audience on the site. With more than 101 million remaining followers, Obama remains the third most-followed person on the site, a few million followers behind singers Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. Other major political accounts were also hit by the purge, with President Trump losing 325,038 followers so far,

Migrant children being used as ‘commodity

MCALLEN, Texas – Border patrol agents say they are alarmed by the growing number of migrants illegally crossing the border with children – who are not their own – to avoid long-term federal custody. Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Raul Ortiz said he’s seeing a growing number of migrant children crossing the border with people pretending to be their parents. A decades-old settlement, known as the “Flores agreement,” limits the amount of time U.S. officials can detain immigrant children – thus doing the same for their parents, which Ortiz said motivates many of the false relationships. The problem became so prevalent that the

WASHINGTON — The White House has rebuffed concerns among American intelligence and law enforcement officials and ordered that more lawmakers be given access to classified information about an informant the F.B.I. used in 2016 to investigate possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to two American officials with knowledge of the decision. Both the director of national intelligence and the director of the F.B.I. tried to keep the classified documents tightly restricted, fearing that a broader dissemination of operational reports and other sensitive material could lead to more leaks of detailed information about the role of the confidential F.B.I.

Get out the fainting couches! President Trump is in Europe, and once again he is saying the unsayable. The occasion is the NATO summit that began today in Brussels. Trump fired an opening salvo that included two themes, as reported by Bloomberg. The first is that Germany, in particular, undermines the alliance’s defenses against Russia by being too dependent on Russian natural gas: “It’s very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia where we’re supposed to be guarding against Russia and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia,” Trump

Papa John’s founder John Schnatter resigned as the company’s chairman on Wednesday night after fallout over his use of the n-word during a conference call. The company released a statement that said the directors had accepted Schnatter’s resignation. “Papa John’s will appoint a new Chairman in a couple of weeks,” the statement read. Forbes reported earlier on Wednesday that Schnatter used the n-word on a conference call in May. The call was specifically designed as a role-playing exercise to prevent future public-relations disasters. “Colonel Sanders called blacks n—–s,” Schnatter said, before complaining that Sanders never faced public backlash.

President Donald Trump will have to learn some new names in London. Earlier this week, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and David Davis, who led Britain’s arrangements for exiting the EU, resigned out of dissatisfaction with the government’s plans for Brexit. On the surface, this looks like a bad time for Trump to arrive. Actually, it’s ideal. The resignations happened because much of the British government — including Prime Minister Theresa May — treat Brexit as a problem to be managed, not an opportunity to be exploited. Most Tory activists want to leave the EU, as does a narrow majority of Conservative Members

Talk about putting the “p” in “protest.” George Lopez, an outspoken and frequent critic of President Donald Trump, pretended to urinate on the POTUS’ Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Tuesday. Clutching a small water bottle, Lopez, 57, greeted fans before squeezing the bottle over the star from his own crotch area, perhaps in reference to the elusive “pee tape” Trump was rumored to have back in 2017. The comedian even included a small shake for effect, much to the delight of onlookers and fans nearby. Once he was tapped out of water, he told his crew, “Alright, let’s go.”
