Tab Hunter, a former on-screen heartthrob and gay icon, has died. He was 86. Hunter died Sunday night in Santa Barbara after a blood clot in his leg caused cardiac arrest, Allan Glaser, Hunter’s partner for more than three decades, confirmed to Variety. With his All-American good looks, wavy blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and toothy smile, Hunter rose to the top ranks of Hollywood leading men in the 1950’s and early ’60’s. He appeared in the likes of “Damn Yankees” and “Battle Cry,” and had chart-topping records such as “Young Love.” But at the height of his popularity, he was dogged

Oh really? An icon? He came out to sell a memoir after his career was long past over. He certainly didn´t become a heart throb playing gay roles.

Well I guess this just underscores how sheltered my childhood was. I never knew, thought, or questioned who did what in their private lives. Just like I always thought Liberace was just...flamboyant.
I long for the days when nobody cared. I STILL don´t, but unfortunately society & the media just won´t leave me alone.

We didn´t call it gay back when he was a star in the 1960´s; we used another term. I can´t imagine anybody thinking he wasn´t ´´one.´´

Tab Hunter never hid the fact he was gay. He had just never shoved it into the faces of the rest of us. He has indeed been out for a long time, and it wasn´t just to sell a book OP.

Everybody knew how he lived his life. He just didn´t make it impossible for us to enjoy his work.

RIP Mr. Hunter

Sonny James made the original version of "Young Love" for a small label.

When it became a big hit - - one of the big labels grabbed Tab - - put a microphone in front of him - - and did a cover version - - which got much wider distribution than the Sonny James version.

Both versions made the top of the charts - - but Tab´s sold more because of the distribution power. Needless to say - - Sonny was a much. much better singer.

Even today, women generally won´t romance a man who has known homosexual impulses regardless of how many heterosexual impulses he might also have. The male homosexual impulse, within the heterosexual relationship, completely dis-empowers the female in that relationship.

For that reason, Hollywood can only market the image - illusion or not - of a completely heterosexual male to the female public. Tab Hunter had to abide by this number 1 marketing rule as do male actors today. Nothing has changed as far as tbis business model is concerned, and nothing ever will.

I know my mother always knew he was gay. I remember her telling me as a kid in the late 60s or early 70s but it wasn´t really an issue because there were a lot of gay actors that didn´t advertise it.

Jerry Nadler appeared to have the best of intentions when he begged his congressional colleagues to tiptoe around Peter Strzok’s mortifying extramarital affair. “You have to treat him and any witness before this committee with respect,” the New York Democrat warned at the beginning of Thursday’s crud-pit of a congressional hearing. “Questions like ‘Do you love Lisa Page?’ are not relevant.” Presumably, this was an attempt to bring dignity to the House Oversight Committee inquiry into whether the FBI employees conspired to keep Donald Trump from the presidency. But — of course questions like that are relevant.

The biggest of Mueller´s indictments, that of one-time Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, has no connection at all to collusion. The left-wing terrorist organization that calls itself Antifa is “freaking out” over a proposed law that would enhance penalties for anyone who “injures, oppresses, threatens, or intimidates any person” while wearing a disguise or mask. Throughout our country, and for a number of years now — and primarily because the establishment media fantasizes about, promotes, enflames and approves of the violence committed against the right (naturally, HuffPo opposes the unmasking law) — Antifa has been allowed to run rampant, committing countless acts of violence against everyday, peaceful supporters of President Donald Trump.
