The Democrats´ Socialist Meltdown

The skies over America the Beautiful were filled with fireworks, and the Twittersphere was filled with three Democratic senators blowing themselves up. My U.S. Senator Kamal Harris, Massachusetts´s Elizabeth Warren and New York´s Kirsten Gillibrand spent their holiday week attacking President Trump in speeches and tweets. It was rough stuff from three lefties who think they´re going to be the next president and apparently think that tweeting like Trump is going to make their delusion come true. Sen. Harris of California warned her followers that Trump is planning to nominate someone who´ll overturn Roe v. Wade because she´s certain he wants to punish

The mult-million aborted children are the true disenfranchised voters. Trying to substitute criminals invading our country for those innocent souls truly demonstrates how perverse the Democrat Party has become. Very sad.

There is pleasure to be had in watching Democrats make fools of themselves. As expected, President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has brought out the crazy in America’s liberals. We have already noted an example or two. But there is much more enjoyment to be had. (Snip) You can only shake your head at the superhero powers allegedly wielded by a single Supreme Court justice. I’d be interested to hear Terry McAuliffe explain why “[t]he nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will threaten the lives of millions of Americans for decades to come.” I guess Kavanaugh is

If you ever wanted to hunt alligators in Florida, here’s your chance. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it will make more than 1,300 gator hunting permits available on Tuesday. “In response to updated alligator population management objectives, the FWC is making 1,313 more harvest permits available in 2018 for county-wide alligator harvest units,” the agency said in a news release. “These permits will be available at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com or in-person at a license agent or county tax collector’s office beginning Tuesday, July 10 at 10 a.m. Eastern time.” Alligator hunts in Florida resumed in 1988 to help control the population,

Highlights: Cost: The estimated price tag for the entire project is $892 million. The ballpark itself is projected to cost $809 million and related infrastructure — including a parking garage and a pedestrian bridge over nearby Adamo Drive — is pegged at $83 million. The cost of the stadium includes one of its standout features, a translucent roof expected to cost almost $245 million. Capacity: The proposed ballpark will seat 28,216 people. Add in standing areas, and the total capacity will be 30,842. That would be the fewest seats of any Major League Baseball venue. By comparison, the latest configuration of Tropicana

SUNRISE — After multiple days of testimony, questioning and followup, the commission created to assess what led to the school shooting that left 17 dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on Feb. 14 has ruled that shooter Nikolas Cruz’s involvement with a school-based discipline diversion program had no effect on his ability to buy weapons. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission’s discussion of the program known as PROMISE carried over from the commission’s last meeting in June. It was the first item on the agenda Tuesday so that the commission could move on to discussing other topics, including

President Trump announced his appointment of D. C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court a few minutes ago. Trump was joined at the podium by Kavanaugh and his wife and two daughters. The event was, I think, superbly staged. Some observations: 1) President Trump’s introduction of Kavanaugh was beautifully conceived and delivered. Was there a teleprompter that I missed? Trump’s announcement seemed to be extemporaneous, and it was done flawlessly. Barack Obama was never able to talk off the cuff like this. 2) Trump emphasized Kavanaugh’s establishment credentials. With a razor-thin one-vote margin in the Senate, this is a good

Senior Justice Department prosecutor, Andrew Weissmann arranged a meeting with the Associated Press in April, 2016 to discuss circumstances surrounding Paul Manafort’s case before he was appointed to Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel. According to recent court filings submitted to the Eastern District of Virginia court, the meeting was held during the time a Grand Jury had convened in Manafort’s case. Manafort’s lawyers are requesting a hearing based on Weissmann’s alleged improper disclosure of confidential grand jury information, non-public information, false information and potentially classified materials, the court documents state. Weissmann met with AP journalists on April 11 after reporters informed him

New tobacco regulations ordered by the Food and Drug Administration were close, but no cigar. By Aug. 10, premium cigars were to be packaged in boxes with new, larger health warnings. The cigar industry says this is costly and ruins boxes considered works of art. But on July 5, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia placed a temporary injunction on the regulation. In Tampa, known as Cigar City for its history as an industry epicenter, the injunction was celebrated. "This is a huge victory for Tampa’s cigar industry," said Drew Newman, general counsel of the 123-year-old J.C. Newman Cigar Co.,

John Sexton embeds entertaining video of Tucker Carlson and Cornel West, and offers a good explanation of why socialism always fails, from the perspective of the vast majority. He focuses on a good question that Tucker asked West: If democratic socialism works, why doesn’t Venezuela have toilet paper? The video is embedded at the end of this post. Of course West’s answers are lame–“real” socialism has never been tried, blah, blah, blah. You could infer from this that West is an idiot and, if he were arguing in good faith, that would be a fair assessment. But I think the truth is

The Brookings Institution warns that "fact checking" will become a lot harder in the 21st century as artificial intelligence becomes better at producing "deep fake news" creating counterfeits so good they are difficult to distinguish from the Real McCoy. "Because the algorithms that generate the fakes continuously learn how to more effectively replicate the appearance of reality, deep fakes cannot easily be detected by other algorithms—indeed, in the case of generative adversarial networks, the algorithm works by getting really good at fooling itself." The technology to fake videos, photographs and sound clips is now so good even Hollywood is increasingly using

When a federal court dismissed on June 29 the class-action lawsuit claiming the State of Michigan had deprived Detroit public schoolchildren of “their right to literacy,” the left was all set to react in faux shock. The court’s key finding hardly came as news to most of us, but the headlines in the New York Times sounded as if someone had denied climate change: “Access to Literacy’ Is Not a Constitutional Right, Judge in Detroit Rules.” These days, when everything progressives want government to provide free is defined as a “right,” i.e., healthcare, housing, a guaranteed income, American citizenship for illegal aliens, etc., etc.,

The technology has advanced where we’ve seen this kind of technology using guns,” Deutch said during a conference call briefing with the Jewish Democratic

Liberals claim to despise Trump voters for all sorts of reasons, but Nancy Sinatra, daughter of the late great Frank Sinatra, made it clear on social media that she specifically hates Trump voters – and “especially the women” – for wanting to overturn Roe v. Walking around New Orleans´ Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood, people are still angry at the impact of Hurricane Katrina and how unprepared the city was for the massive storm nearly 13 years on. But now some of their wrath is directed at Brad Pitt and his charity Make It Right. After the levees of the city´s industrial canal were breached, the Lower Ninth Ward of predominantly black and low-income families was decimated by the floods, with most houses swept away or left in ruins. Among the first to lend a helping hand was Pitt, who - along with his then wife Angelina Jolie - owned a house in New Orleans and set up the

Hours before President Trump was to name his second Supreme Court Justice nominee, Sen. Chuck Schumer was whining on the Senate floor. The Senate Minority Leader had his feelings hurt because Trump had not consulted him – or any Democrats – in his Supreme Court pick. It´s often been observed that special counsel Robert Mueller, assigned to investigate alleged Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 presidential campaign, has yet to charge anyone with a crime involving Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 presidential campaign. The biggest of Mueller´s indictments, that of one-time Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, has no connection at all to collusion. And until a few days ago, it appeared to have no connection to Donald Trump, either. Now, though, Mueller has revealed why he believes the Manafort prosecution is related to the 2016 Trump campaign. WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each
