Episcopal Church considers
making God gender neutral

Fox News, by Caitlyn Richard

Original Article

Posted By:Harlowe, 7/6/2018 1:44:15 PM

The Episcopal Church formed a committee Wednesday to “provide a pathway” toward revising the Book of Common Prayer to include gender-neutral language. Church leaders called for immediate revisions to correct the “overwhelming use of masculine language” throughout the book, arguing that the language is now a hindrance to spiritual inclusion, according to the Episcopal Church website. (Snip) Kathleen Moore, a seminarian from the Diocese of Vermont, said she tries to help the youth see that gendered language gets in the way of faith in God. “Let’s let God be God,” Moore told the religious news agency.

Comments:
Although God is a Spirit, numerous references in Scripture liken God to a human father. Jesus is sometimes called “the Son of Man” indicating a masculine gender (Luke 19:10). God sent His Son into the world (John 3:17); the Counselor (Holy Spirit) is referred to in the masculine gender (John 16:7-8); in Revelation 20:1-2, “...holding in His hand the key to the bottomless pit” ... “He seized the dragon...” The Bible “in the Hebrew and Greek clearly say God is referred to in the masculine by name.) To do otherwise is considered by many to be an insult to God.

I well know of all the biblical references to GOD in a masculine way. One thing to remember is WHEN it was written, those days MEN were in charge and it was accepted as right.
To change the wording after all these years just because it´s a fad popular thing just don´t seem right. I thought that a church was supposed to be timeless and steadfast in the teachings and beliefs

Amereagle-redux is Episcopalian. I am ok with this. In fact, I think it will help ... the idea that God is one “gender” vs. another is ludicrous. My female loved ones will likely warm to the services more if it isn’t all so “guys in the boardroom” heavy.

#3,#6- Respectfully, although written by men, Scripture is the inspired Word of God; the Holy Spirit does not make mistakes: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,...” (2 Timothy 3:16) What was written by men is what the Holy Spirit intended to be written.

#15- With sincere empathy, as informational, many LCMS churches have and continue to receive Catholic and Episcopal converts as new members.

I don´t have a problem with including gender-neutral prayers, etc. in the Book of Common Prayer (the document that organizes the worship services of Episcopalians). What I object to is any requirement that all prayers must be gender-neutral. For example, for me, the Lord´s Prayer will always start with "Our Father" and nothing else.

In making room for others in the church, it is illogical to exclude people already there.

I honestly understand why most Evangelical churches have boards of elders, while the Catholics have a very strict hierarchy.

This is what happens when the majority of the sheeple, who have NOT studied holy Scripture in the least, start making decisions on what their church should believe based on what is PC in popular culture!!!!!!!

Satan is just smiling as much of mainstream Protestantism is imploding at the hands of the secular "gods"...

Well, they can call God a male or a female or an eunuch. They can claim God is a Yorkshire Puppy or a toad or a pineapple. The one thing I know for sure is they have no idea what God looks like or smells like or sounds like. God´s face is forever hidden from the face of man - only when you finally have to face God as a sinner will you know for sure what God is and then you will be so surprised you won´t believe your mind. But, you will know both the wrath and love of God. It does not matter one bit what God is to you- You should be most concerned about what you are to God.

Oh sheesh, these morons need to learn something about the Bible in the original
languages along with the English before they try and change it
---
All Angels are MALE, and adults (no babies)

Adam was made a MAN... from him was made WOMAN

The woman was subordinate to Adam (he was called that from creation) in the Garden of Eden

When the woman fell (she wasn´t called "Eve" until after the fall) she didn´t get blamed, it was Adam, because he was her authority

All Old Testament Leaders and Prophets were MEN

Jesus Christ, who went to the cross and died for our sins, was a MAN

All the Disciples and later Apostles were MEN

All Pastors who exercise spiritual authority in a true Christian church must be MEN
---

Contrary to leftist communist thinking, a Christian woman has more power to influence a man than almost all of the above. She also loves her station in life and when living the Christian life, wouldn´t trade it for all the world. I won´t quote all the verses that praise such a woman... she is indeed the rarest of our species these days.

Blasphemous hubris of the highest order.
If they are to craft God in their image, then they view God as subservient to them and the even lower standard of current fashion.
This reduces our Lord to a mere tool to be used for base and worldly ends.
No one who reveres our Lord would do such a thing.

"The feminists want the Trinity to be called, ´Mother, daughter and womb..." Those words are quotes.

The words that Jesus taught his apostles about prayer, begin with "Our Father."

In the Episcopal church I grew up in, we spoke of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. I wonder how they intend to reword that. They will continue to acknowledge that when Jesus walked the earth, He did so as a man, won´t they?

Inclusivizing language, ostensibly in the effort to make sex a non-issue, has the tragic effect of making sex the dominant issue. Replace every one of those bothersome pronouns with ´God´, and we wind up asking God to gather God´s people to Godself (just to give one tiny example...).

Could this really be (tongue firmly in cheek) what Jesus meant when He referred to his kingdom as a reality in which God will be all in all?

#32- Respectfully, neither the Fox news story nor the link to the Episcopal Church website mentions elders; the individuals cited were members of the clergy presenting their views to an appointed committee. The sweeping statement “...honestly understand why most Evangelical churches have boards of elders, while the Catholics have a very strict hierarchy. This is what happens when the majority of the sheeple, who have NOT studied Holy Scripture in the least, start making decisions on what their church should believe...” is inaccurate.

There is a difference between Evangelical and Protestant churches; EVANGELICAL churches hold to the belief of the Bible—God’s inspired, inerrant Word to humankind and salvation by faith in Jesus alone. Accordingly, “elders” in Evangelical churches holding true to what is written in Scripture are, today, “...laymen appointed to serve the congregation in its temporal affairs and to assist the pastor in administrative tasks.” (Acts 6:1-6) “Scripture gives them no special spiritual responsibilities in the congregation beyond those given to every Christian.” Evangelical elders do not tamper with what is written in Scripture and by no means dabble in or adhere to “secular gods.” What other Protestant churches or nondenominational churches do is unknown to this writer.

LONDON – Thousands of Trump supporters and other right-wing activists took to the nation’s capital on Saturday--a day after anti-Trump protesters had dominated the city. Episcopal Church considers

Would you consider a jihadist biased against Jews? Could a member of a white supremacist group be accused of bias against non-whites? The Justice Department´s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, and FBI Director Christopher Wray claim the 500-plus-page report found no "documented" evidence that political bias at the FBI directly influenced the findings in the Clinton investigation or the Justice Department´s decision not to prosecute the former secretary of state. People in "flyover country" are more likely to believe pigs can fly than they are to accept that political bias did not expose a clear intent to damage presidential candidate Donald

LONDON - Thomas Markle, the father of Britain’s new royal, said his son-in-law Prince Harry had told him to give U.S. President Donald Trump a chance and Queen Elizabeth’s grandson had also said he had an open mind about Britain’s exit from the European Union. (Snip) “I was complaining I didn’t like Donald Trump. He said ‘give Donald Trump a chance’. I sort of disagreed with that, but I still like Harry,” Markle told ITV’s Good Morning Britain in his first broadcast interview since the royal wedding. Markle, 73, said he had spoken to Harry by phone in the months

Prince Charles and Prince William reportedly ‘snubbed’ the US President during his visit to Britain - leaving the Queen to meet Donald Trump alone at Windsor Castle. The royal father and son apparently shared their desire to not take part in the arrangements during informal discussions regarding the president’s four-day tour. Trump’s trip was not a state visit and so only the Queen greeted the president and his wife Melania. However even on working trips dignitaries expect to see more members of the royal family than only the Queen. When deciding which royals to include in the meeting, senior courtiers shared concerns about

Saturday on MSNBC, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said President Donald Trump criticizes former President Barack Obama because “he’s jealous of Obama and his administration.” When asked about Trump tweeting that President Obama should have done more about Russian’s interfering in our elections, Waters said, “First of all, let me say this: If the president wrote out at some point and said the sky is falling and it is Obama’s fault, and everybody knows he likes to blame Obama for any and everything that he can come up with. And in addition to that, it is very clear that he’s jealous

FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the investigation of possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign testified under oath in a congressional hearing on Thursday that FBI agents can engage in some types of adultery. Strzok was asked “what action” he would take if he found out one of his subordinates was conducting an “extramarital affair.” “It depends,” said Strzok. “If it was against the FBI’s regulation in terms of if it was somebody in their chain of command, above or below them, which is inappropriate or not allowed by regulation, I would

Meghan Markle‘s smile is hiding fear, stress and the pressure of adjusting to her new royal duties, her father said in an interview published Sunday. “I think she is terrified,” Thomas Markle told The Sun. “I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile.” “I’ve seen her smile for years. I know her smile. I don’t like the one I’m seeing now,” he added. “This is a pained smile.”The newly-minted Duchess of Sussex, 36, is struggling to cope with the transition from TV actress to a member of the royal

The man who co-wrote “The Art of the Deal” said Sunday he believes President Trump’s faculties are diminishing — and that he feels obligated to sound the alarm. “We are in a true emergency,” Tony Schwartz said on CNN Sunday. “And the accelerated rate at which his breakdown or decompensation is occurring is cause for us, and certainly for me, to come on to TV more often, to tweet more often.” Schwartz told CNN’s Brian Stelter that he felt comfortable making that assessment because he had “spent an enormous time with [Trump] over a period of 18 months.”(snip)Stelter pointed out that Schwartz

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is going into the Supreme Court confirmation process with a hail of rhetorical arrows zinging by him, including a phony letter-writing campaign aimed at unsuspecting American newspaper editors. At least 21 papers were duped last week, including big-market brands like the Dallas Morning News and The Washington Times. They ran identical letters over a four-day period, each signed by a different person. The effort is an example of public-relations ´astroturfing,´ a technique meant to simulate genuine grassroots support for an idea or cause. Watching FBI agent Peter Strzok battle with Congress, my initial reaction was pure anger. His repeated, arrogant insistence that he had done nothing wrong despite tons of evidence to the contrary convinced me he deserved immediate firing — if not the firing squad. Gradually, though, anger gave way to amazement as Strzok grew increasingly combative and condescending. Given his predicament, the sneering and smirking were stupid, and yet he persisted. Who is this jerk, I wondered, and how in the hell did he get to be a big shot at the FBI? And why are taxpayers still paying for the privilege of

A 13-year-old girl in Alabama was beheaded because she saw her Sinaloa Cartel-associated granny stabbed to death by drug traffickers, authorities have said. Mariah Lopez, 13, and her grandmother Oralia Mendoza, 49, were killed on June 4 in Moon Cemetery outside of Huntsville, Alabama, prosecutors revealed in court on Thursday. The new details in the case came in a hearing for 26-year-old Yoni Aguilar, who along with 34-year-old Israel Palomino is charged with two counts each of capital murder in the slayings. At the hearing, investigators testified that the grandmother Mendoza had ties to the Sinaloa Cartel,

Moscow - When President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia sits down with President Trump in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday for a meeting he has long wanted, he will already have accomplished virtually everything he could reasonably hope for. All he really needs to make his meeting with Mr. Trump a success is for it to take place without any major friction — providing a symbolic end to Western efforts to isolate Russia over its actions against Ukraine in 2014, its meddling in the United States election in 2016 and other examples of what the United States Treasury Department has described as Russia’s “malign activity” around the

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ripped the Trump administration on Friday during a teachers union conference in Pittsburgh. Speaking to thousands at the American Federation of Teachers Convention, Clinton expressed her disdain over multiple Trump policies. The ongoing issue of migrant family separations at the border goes beyond politics, she said, adding that it was disgraceful, inhumane and indecent. President Trump signed an executive order in June to allow migrant children to stay with parents who were caught crossing the border illegally. Clinton went on to say that the administration wants to transform the

Former US president Barack Obama arrived in Kenya on Sunday, the country of his father´s birth, his first visit to this East African country since leaving office. Obama is in Kenya to help launch the sports and training center founded by his half-sister, Auma Obama, through her foundation Sauti Kuu. In Nairobi, Barack met President Uhuru Kenyatta at the official residence, according to Kenyatta´s Twitter account. (Snip) Barack´s visit to Kenya is low key, unlike his previous visits where he electrified thousands of Kenyans who lined the streets to see him when he was a senator in 2006 and then as president
