The board of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) made the unanimous decision to change the name on Saturday, at a meeting in New Orleans. The name of the prize was changed from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal to the Children’s Literature Legacy Award. The association said Wilder “includes expressions of stereotypical attitudes inconsistent with ALSC’s core values”. The first award

Liberals continue to chew-up Americana and spit it out. Now Little House on the Prairie is deemed racist.

This makes my blood boil. I loved these books as a child—I still have them. She was writing about the times—what she wrote reflects her experiences. It’s the way it was! These people are really tiresome. I hate them. Find something constructive to do that actaully helps people—this is just nonsense!

"…a line in Little House on the Prairie that said Kansas had ‘no people, only Indians’."

And that´s all we get. Zero context. Was it in the narrative voice? Was it said by an evil character? Is it digestive noises from a nearby cow?

Myself, I have a hard time believing the woman who reared Rose Wilder Lane was any kind of racist.

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s daughter, Rose, was a founder of libertarianism and a good friend of Ayn Rand. The Little House Books, coupled with listening to Rush Limbaugh on car trips when I was a young child, played a major role in the formation of my conservative mindset. They fostered a great appreciation in me for the uniquely American pioneering spirit, even thought I was a not too outdoorsy city girl.

They are very important books. So naturally, this move by the ALA makes perfect sense— they want to kill them with their favorite tactic, declaring them racist.

I think our former First Lady Laura Bush should pen another op-ed for the Washington Post . . . this time, on behalf of the writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder, whom she extolled back in October 2008:

MRS. BUSH: Thanks, everybody, for coming out. This is something I´ve wanted to do for a really long time, and that was to go here, come here to Laura Ingalls Wilder´s house. She´s one of my favorite authors. I loved her books. My mother read them to me when I was little before I could read. And then as I grew up with them, I could read the ones -- the end ones, "The Happy Golden Years" and the ones that were Laura as an older person and a teacher. And of course I always -- she is the character, Laura, in "The Little House on the Prairie" books, that I most associated with myself, because my name was Laura and I had brown hair like she did. And so it´s really a thrill to get to be here and see where she wrote the books that meant so much to me as a child.

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

NEW YORK — Starbucks is going strawless. The coffee company announced Monday that it will phase out plastic straws from all of its stores by 2020. The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. The new designs have drawn comparisons to an adult “sippy cup.” (Snip) Frappuccino

Republican bigwigs should be quaking in their fancy foreign shoes. Their president keeps poking allies and flattering dictators — including the autocrat behind the hacking of our 2016 elections and a dictator who was threatening to nuke us until a few months ago and still seems to be developing the capacity to do so. His Cabinet secretaries act as if they´re competing for the most ridiculous scandal. And his lackeys appear more interested in enriching the Trump family than reuniting the thousands of kids separated from their parents by his policies. Just 17 weeks from the 2018 elections, the Dow

Democrats Botch Supreme Court Politics

As President Donald Trump prepares to name his Supreme Court nominee on Monday, disgruntled Democrats are carping at Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell for his cheap politics in denying even a vote on their highly qualified pick in 2016. They also need to look in the mirror. Democrats set the stage for their powerlessness to affect the court choice, and their reaction just deepens their political anguish. A year ago, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer spearheaded a filibuster against Neil Gorsuch, nominated by Trump to succeed the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Predictably, McConnell changed the rules on a party line

Prince Charles and Prince William reportedly ‘snubbed’ the US President during his visit to Britain - leaving the Queen to meet Donald Trump alone at Windsor Castle. The royal father and son apparently shared their desire to not take part in the arrangements during informal discussions regarding the president’s four-day tour. Trump’s trip was not a state visit and so only the Queen greeted the president and his wife Melania. However even on working trips dignitaries expect to see more members of the royal family than only the Queen. When deciding which royals to include in the meeting, senior courtiers shared concerns about

Saturday on MSNBC, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said President Donald Trump criticizes former President Barack Obama because “he’s jealous of Obama and his administration.” When asked about Trump tweeting that President Obama should have done more about Russian’s interfering in our elections, Waters said, “First of all, let me say this: If the president wrote out at some point and said the sky is falling and it is Obama’s fault, and everybody knows he likes to blame Obama for any and everything that he can come up with. And in addition to that, it is very clear that he’s jealous

FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the investigation of possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign testified under oath in a congressional hearing on Thursday that FBI agents can engage in some types of adultery. Strzok was asked “what action” he would take if he found out one of his subordinates was conducting an “extramarital affair.” “It depends,” said Strzok. “If it was against the FBI’s regulation in terms of if it was somebody in their chain of command, above or below them, which is inappropriate or not allowed by regulation, I would

Meghan Markle‘s smile is hiding fear, stress and the pressure of adjusting to her new royal duties, her father said in an interview published Sunday. “I think she is terrified,” Thomas Markle told The Sun. “I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile.” “I’ve seen her smile for years. I know her smile. I don’t like the one I’m seeing now,” he added. “This is a pained smile.”The newly-minted Duchess of Sussex, 36, is struggling to cope with the transition from TV actress to a member of the royal

The indictment Friday of 12 Russian military officers for the election hacks against the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign lends a surprising new detail to the 2016 election interference timeline: The Kremlin’s hackers apparently still maintained a foothold in the DNC’s network four months after the Democrats announced that they’d locked the intruders out. Until today, the story of the DNC hack ended promptly on June 14, 2016, when the Democrats went public with the intrusion in the pages of the Washington Post, and Crowdstrike, the security firm hired to respond to the breach, published a detailed technical account. Today’s indictment confirms

The man who co-wrote “The Art of the Deal” said Sunday he believes President Trump’s faculties are diminishing — and that he feels obligated to sound the alarm. “We are in a true emergency,” Tony Schwartz said on CNN Sunday. “And the accelerated rate at which his breakdown or decompensation is occurring is cause for us, and certainly for me, to come on to TV more often, to tweet more often.” Schwartz told CNN’s Brian Stelter that he felt comfortable making that assessment because he had “spent an enormous time with [Trump] over a period of 18 months.”(snip)Stelter pointed out that Schwartz

Anyone who has ever been to a recycling plant is invariably surprised at how dirty and nasty America’s favorite green activity really is. Trucks dump the material on a long conveyor belt, where a few dozen people pick through by hand what is supposed to be recyclable material, but more and more often is just plain old dirty trash. The recyclables used to be worth something more than bragging rights about liberal moral superiority. Plastic bottles, newspapers, and cardboard, were just a few of the favorites you could ship to China by the ton and make a few bucks along the

Americans are encouraged to embrace diversity and be culturally sensitive to those who have flouted our laws and invaded our nation. Meanwhile, illegal aliens arriving in America have no such requirement. Instead, trespassing tribes relocate, and when they do, rather than assimilate, they transfer habits and activities indigenous to the countries from whence they migrated. Thus, Americans suffer from illnesses that are easily traceable to third-world bathroom habits (TWBH) and lack of hygiene in the developing world. It´s not news that illegals work in restaurants as food-handlers. These restaurant workers migrate from

Watching FBI agent Peter Strzok battle with Congress, my initial reaction was pure anger. His repeated, arrogant insistence that he had done nothing wrong despite tons of evidence to the contrary convinced me he deserved immediate firing — if not the firing squad. Gradually, though, anger gave way to amazement as Strzok grew increasingly combative and condescending. Given his predicament, the sneering and smirking were stupid, and yet he persisted. Who is this jerk, I wondered, and how in the hell did he get to be a big shot at the FBI? And why are taxpayers still paying for the privilege of

The left-wing terrorist organization that calls itself Antifa is “freaking out” over a proposed law that would enhance penalties for anyone who “injures, oppresses, threatens, or intimidates any person” while wearing a disguise or mask. Throughout our country, and for a number of years now — and primarily because the establishment media fantasizes about, promotes, enflames and approves of the violence committed against the right (naturally, HuffPo opposes the unmasking law) — Antifa has been allowed to run rampant, committing countless acts of violence against everyday, peaceful supporters of President Donald Trump.

The White House Correspondents’ Association released a statement defending CNN from President Donald Trump’s refusal to take a question from the network on Friday. “In response to the President lashing out at NBC, CNN and The Sun: Asking smart, tough questions, whether in a presidential press conference or interview, is central to the role a free press plays in a healthy republic,” said WHCA president Margaret Talev. “Given that the president took a question from a CNN reporter in his NATO news conference just a day earlier, maybe he was letting off steam today rather than expressing an official stance

A 13-year-old girl in Alabama was beheaded because she saw her Sinaloa Cartel-associated granny stabbed to death by drug traffickers, authorities have said. Mariah Lopez, 13, and her grandmother Oralia Mendoza, 49, were killed on June 4 in Moon Cemetery outside of Huntsville, Alabama, prosecutors revealed in court on Thursday. The new details in the case came in a hearing for 26-year-old Yoni Aguilar, who along with 34-year-old Israel Palomino is charged with two counts each of capital murder in the slayings. At the hearing, investigators testified that the grandmother Mendoza had ties to the Sinaloa Cartel,
