If you´ve eaten today, thank a farmer
Washington Examiner [DC], by Rep. Don Bacon*

Original Article

If you’ve eaten today, you should thank a farmer. If you regularly shop at your local grocery store or farmer’s market, then you should care about the stability and success of our nation’s farms and ranches. Across our country, more than 3 million producers operate farms that generate food for families around the world. As members of the House Agriculture Committee, we represent areas from California to New York, each of which rely heavily on our local farms that promote jobs and support countless workers and their families. Together, we supported this year’s farm bill, which strengthens programs important to the farmers

Don, if you consider handing out welfare payments ´thanking´, then please stay as far away as you can from my profession. I will accept your absence as thanks.
Your efforts to change farming from an important highly skilled profession into a conga like of deadbeats with their hands out has not gone unnoticed.
Do us all a favor and stay home, you have done enough damage already.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinds

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday rescinded a 2011 Justice Department guidance mandating that asylum seekers and refugees have a “right” to work in the U.S. The Obama-era document was included on a list of 24 Justice Department guidances that Sessions scrapped because he said they were “unnecessary, outdated, inconsistent with existing law” or imposed without congressional approval. “That’s wrong, and it’s not good government,” Sessions said in a statement. The 2011 guidance, which was issued by the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-related Unfair Employment Practices, ensured asylum seekers and refugees were “authorized to work indefinitely” and could obtain Social Security cards

The woman who scaled the Statue of Liberty on Wednesday has been identified. Cops say Therese Patricia Okoumou — a 44-year-old immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo — was the person responsible for the Fourth of July protest. She lives in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island and is currently in federal custody, according to police sources. Officers from the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit transported her to a federal detention center on Wednesday night following her three-hour standoff with authorities. Her case is being handled by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. Sources said that

The Martha’s Vineyard crowd

For years, former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz and some of his high-profile pals have spent summer afternoons opining on the porch at the Chilmark General Store on Martha’s Vineyard. Not this summer, and maybe never again. As a result of Dershowitz’s vocal opposition to the appointment of a special counsel to investigate President Trump’s ties to Russia, the coffee klatch has turned combative. In recent days, the clique has been exchanging bitter e-mails that lay bare the anger over Dershowitz’s seeming support for the president, which is a no-no on the Vineyard, a liberal enclave that has great antipathy for

The real meaning of Democrats’
Supreme Court panic
New York Post, by Ben Shapiro    Original Article

Democrats are in a state of sheer panic. They’re panicking because last week, Justice Anthony Kennedy — a reliable vote in favor of certain leftist priorities including abortion and same-sex marriage — announced that he will step down from the Supreme Court, leaving President Trump a second selection. This apparently will lead to the end of a free America. According to Jeffrey Toobin of CNN, the remade Supreme Court will spell doom: “Abortion illegal; doctors prosecuted; gay people barred from restaurants, hotels, stores; African-Americans out of elite schools; gun control banned in 50 states; the end of regulatory state.” None

One of the great July 4th speeches was delivered by a shy man who played baseball for a living. Lou Gehrig played every day, never took a game off, until he was told, at age 35, that he was dying. More than 60,000 fans and former teammates came out to Yankee Stadium to honor him. Between the two games of the doubleheader, he came out of the Yankee’s dugout and stood, listening as former teammates spoke into the microphones that had been set up behind home plate. He was embarrassed enough by their words that he teared up. Among those

Gov. Charlie Baker signed into law a “red flag” measure that will let household members seek a court order to take guns from people posing a risk to themselves or others. The bill strengthening the state’s already restrictive gun laws allows family or household members to petition a judge for an extreme risk protection order to remove guns from a person at risk of harming themselves or others and bar them from possessing firearms for up to a year. Gun owners can appeal the order to show they are not a danger and have their guns returned. Baker called the extreme risk

“Abolish ICE” isn’t a solution, argues my colleague Ed Morrissey at the Daily Beast today, it’s a slogan. Indeed, and that’s being generous. It started as a Twitter hashtag, per HuffPost. As the phrase started showing up more online, desperate opportunists like Kirsten Gillibrand who are looking for an angle to shore up their left flank in the 2020 primaries glommed onto it. Just like that, the hashtag #AbolishICE had become the slogan “Abolish ICE,” which had in turn become a semi-serious policy proposed by a semi-serious U.S. senator. And once it did, other supposedly serious 2020 contenders had to

Since special counsel Robert Mueller was tasked with investigating potential ties between Russia and the Trump campaign over a year ago his team has issued more than 100 charges against at least 20 people and companies. The Mueller probe has led to additional investigations, including an ongoing probe by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. But as the summer months roll on, calls from the president and Republicans on Capitol Hill to wrap the investigations grow louder. Mueller’s team has focused much of its attention on key figures in President Trump’s world. Here are a few of

I’ve got great news for pro-choice feminists like Whoopi Goldberg. Supreme Court justices don’t perform enemas or abortions, they simply interpret law. Sadly, when you rely on your values, morals, and worth to be affirmed by feelings, like-minded peers, and government regulation rather than by God and objective truth, it’s no wonder the left goes crazy when they can’t appoint a ruler to validate their worldview. There are three questions to address leading up to President Trump’s replacement of outgoing Justice Anthony Kennedy: What’s the proper function of a Supreme Court justice? Who’s to blame for President Obama’s so-called “stolen
