Former first lady Laura Bush tore into the Trump administration for separating migrant families at the border, calling the “zero tolerance” policy “cruel” and “immoral.” Bush penned an op-ed for the Washington Post, which was published Sunday night as public outcry over the hundreds of children in detention centers intensified. “I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Bush’s commentary comes as more images and accounts from inside the detention centers have

So, in order to avoid prosecution for illegal entry, all they would have to do is drag a kid along. Then we would have no choice but to turn the whole family loose. Right, Laura?

Debates in cushy salons are interesting as far as they go but the Latino grapevine is quicker and more efficient than fiber optic cable.

Illegals can be forgiven for thinking there are no consequences because...there have been no consequences. There have been many rewards starting with welfare, housing, etc. ´In America they give you a house!´ is an article of faith.

The new word has gone out: if you bring the kids and enter America illegally, you lose the kids. Your choice, not ours.

And his liberal wife and children are useful idiots.

Zero tolerance = enforce the existing laws passed by the Congress and Presidents. Either you do or you don´t. GWB was a nice man but very squishy on enforcing the laws which he was charged and sworn to do. So in other words Laure, stuff it.

I can not defend W BUT consider the alternatives! People are so blind. All Trump is doing is enforcing the laws put in place by Democrats. The usual leftist behavior is to ignore the laws.

If someone thinks we are treating the children poorly, go to the borders and tell these "families" to turn around if they want to stay together. We dont want to put your "children" in jail so we will provide them with a place to stay. It´s the "Parents" fault for breaking our immigration LAW! Stop the tears at CNN, MSNBC, ABC etc. Your hero did worse but you said not a word!! Grow up!

Sweet Pea, you need to reread your HUSBAND´S Patriot Act in the first term of HIS presidency. If you read closely, you will see provisions made for doing just what Obama, and now Trump have been doing. For somebody who was so proud of being a Librarian, she sure has a lousy memory and cannot research.

Photo op politicing to teick thw gullible into making decisions based on limited considerations.

It is cruel and immoral to use children as pawns in political immigration battles. The entire ´child migrant crisis´ has been manufactured. Leftist groups in Mexico put these groups together, and see to it that they make it to the border. Leftist groups in the United States ´sponsor´ them to get them across the border. The lefty media reports this as ´news´, and calls it a ´crisis´. Politicians on both sides of the aisle fall all over themselves saying we have to ´fix´ this ´for the children´. The hypocrisy is staggering.

We need to control the border, and determine who can come into this country. We don´t need people that have been taught to hate America. We don´t need people who have been taught to vote for hardcore radical lefties. We don´t need people who won´t work.

The answer to ending these family separations, Laura, is for these children not to be brought here by human traffickers nor by one or both parents who are not fleeing their own country because of tyranny there. America´s borders do need protection and to help achieve that goal, the U.S. must end the ILLEGAL magnets here which lobby for ILLEGAL workers, along with the irresponsible policies of ignoring existing Immigration Law by the elected Congressional Representatives and former Presidents´ neglect to enforce the law.

I saw a tour on TV of one of those group care homes where those kids are being housed.
The non-profit group has been operating several units since 1997! Who was President back then?

Boys aged 7 to 17, separate beds, like 4 or 5 to a room, food, doctors, fresh clothes, classes in English and school work, teaching them to use indoor plumbing, recreation areas, field trips to museums, movies, etc.

The one thing that stood out in the tour...fully 90% of the children had been picked up traveling alone (no parent) only 10% were there because they were with their parent(s) who were arrested crossing the border illegally.

We are paying over $34K per child per year, about $10K more than the poverty rate for a family of four.

Another reason why I have instituted my "No More Bushes" electoral policy. I´ve used it at least four times... not voting for George P. Bush for Texas Land Commissioner in the GOP primaries in 2014 and 2018 as well as the general election in 2014, and not voting for Jeb Bush in the 2016 primaries here in Texas.

While I was no fan of Donald Trump, he certainly saved me from a very difficult decision if it had been Jeb vs Hillary.

I had thought of voting for the Prohibition Party candidate in that instance, but I realized that I would need strong drink with either of those two.

The most painful part of all of this is how we, the people of America, were tricked and fooled by these so called Republicans. W Bush, John McCain. Just heartbreaking that people we once looked up to have treated us so badly. It´s also why they can´t understand our link to Trump. No baloney about him. He says what he means and does what he says he will. I don´t like Trump´s use of vulgar language now and then and he´s not someone I´d want to be close friends with, but I love the man for his ability to understand what this country almost became, his promise to us to stop it and his hard work to do so. Thank you President Trump, our country will forever be in your debt. As for Laura, another Kool Aid drinker who used us. So sad.

Save it for somebody that cares-on the other side of the border.

First, it was GW and the guest worker program that allowed "about 11 million" in the US. Then you had to have a Mexican chef in the WH. Never mind your sister in law who still doesn´t speak English.

Sitting in a dentist office once there was a Spanish magazine with the Bush girls horseback riding in Mexico.

Laura you have no heart. You give cover to tyrants and dictators by using your global podium to demonize Americans instead of corrupt governments that push their own people out the door. When will your alleged heart ever break for Americans here legally? Never. Your cruel husband signed the William Wilberforce Act on 12/23/2008, the day before Christmas Eve, on his way out the door. The Act forced the US to take in everyone who crosses the border from a non-contiguous country, eg Central America MS thugs. Your children never had to sit next to an MS gang member in school who couldn´t read or write in any language. The Bush family is the worst thing to happen to this country since WWII.

So the Bushies are saying to everyone bring kids even if they are not yours & you get a free pass. We don’ even know if these children are really theirs. Look what the NY politicians have foisted on it´s citizens and Jellobrand is going to foist on the nation: NY conned the stupid unions and others into demanding $15/hr. This resulted in layoffs, no path for entry workers, and the rise of robots to the detriment of workers. Jellobrand´s cure: Let´s get these useful idiots make believe job training, a supplemental income (welfare), etc., etc. I wonder...how much have politicians invested in the robotics industry to feather themselves. This is the reason we don´t have another president Bush. Their ideas are "compassionately" foolish and bad for America.

You have to wonder why the Bush family who spoke NO ill words against the anti Constitutional reign of BO goes out of its way to complain about laws being enforced.

This also shows why it was good that Laura kept out of policy issues. Laura, if you don´t enforce the laws, it will encourage more people to violate them. We would have a bigger flood of parents bringing their kids to illegally cross the border because they would know we didn´t have the spine to enforce our laws. That´s called ENABLING Laura. Maybe you should chat with Hillary about that and the results she got with BJ when they tried to deal with his little "problem".

The Bush´s heads are filled with mush.

And, I say again, why are these liberals not putting the blame where it belongs, with the parents of these "kids" who drag them across Mexico, through drug cartel territory putting them in danger the entire way. Yet it is Trump who is at fault -- its the parents stupid!

Build the damn wall.

Staff the 1,954 mile long border with as many border security people as necessary, and enforce it. A country without borders isn´t a country at all. Citizenship should account for something.

If you take your child with you to work when you go to rob a bank, you´ll get separated when you are caught too. Why is law enforcement to blame when the parent chose to bring their child with them to commit an illegal act?
Not to mention, that it is likely that some of those kids are kidnapped victims who have probably been threatened to lie, or their parents will be killed. Do the DNA test.

Now I see that they were just stooges for the New World Order. They can enjoy their Hispanic house staff and gardeners without letting 40 million of their relatives in. The forty million would turn into 80 million in a decade and there goes the neighborhood.

You know what scares me the most about this story?

The fact that we have, in Donald Trump, a truly unique President. One who actually DOES the things he promised to do while a candidate, a man who truly cares for this country and believes in it´s exceptionalism. I see a man who has no need for more power, money or fame. I see a man who loves this country enough to endure the kind of depraved media stories, general hatred and antipathy from the public that he and his family have been subjected to.

What scares me is that after 2024, I don´t have any faith that another such person of character will step up to the plate and continue to fight for our great country. What will happen then?

For now, I am enjoying the constant winning of a REAL conservative....unlike "W". Sorry Laura, but you need to butt out.

Laura, Laura, Laura. This so called crisis is occurring because of decisions made by past presidents like your husband, that kept kicking the illegal immigration problem down the road. The left, now you included, are using these children as political pawns. As it turns out a vast majority of these children are not even accompanied by their birth parents. Exactly what should we do as a country Laura, totally ignore the immigration laws that congress passed? I´d be willing to be that you didn´t call Kate Steinle´s to offer your condolence when she was murdered by an illegal in SF. Where was your compassion then?

Our Constitution forbids the creation of “titles of nobility.” The Framers thought it was important enough that the prohibition appears twice, once forbidding the federal government from doing it, and elsewhere extending the ban to the states. And Americans, to the extent that they give the question any thought at all, probably think that the ban works: After all, nobody’s squiring about the United States, sporting titles like Duke of Pennsylvania or Earl of Internal Revenue. But now I’m wondering if we don’t have a problem. First, Charles C.W. Cooke, a Brit who just recently became an American citizen, noted the practice of

During a lecture at the Library of Conservatism in Germany, British philosopher Sir Roger Scruton described conservatism as a philosophy that recognizes and acknowledges that good things are easily destroyed but not easily created, such as law, peace, freedom, civility, the security of property and family life. He contends we depend on the cooperation of others for the aforementioned to exist because we have no means or ability to single handedly attain it. He states “the work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating.” “The work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.” For the African American, the journey from captivity

Mitt Romney spoke out against "trade wars" on Friday after President Trump imposed tariffs on $34 billion of Chinese imports, prompting Beijing to respond with its own tariffs on U.S. goods. “Trade wars are a tax on Americans. They have severe consequences for many employers and inevitably cost Americans jobs,” the Utah GOP Senate hopeful said in a statement. Romney said trade wars are particularly punishing for agriculture, which is a sector in Utah the former GOP presidential contender said is “already under duress from wildfire, drought, and challenging public land policies.” “Our national objective should be to open new markets, negotiate free

There’s no claim that Jordan engaged in such misconduct, the claim is that he knew about, but failed to take action to stop, sexual harassment by a team doctor. Jordan denies knowing about the doctor’s misconduct. The question, then, isn’t what Jordan did; it’s what he knew. That’s usually a difficult kind of inquiry.
