All Apple employees now get standing
desks — and Tim Cook has said he
believes ´sitting is the new cancer´

Business Insider, by Kif Leswing

Most of what happens inside Apple Park, the iPhone company´s stunning new headquarters, is top secret. But Apple CEO Tim Cook recently disclosed one new detail about the work environment: Everyone gets a standing desk. "We have given all of our employees, 100%, standing desks. If you can stand for a while, then sit, and so on and so forth, it´s much better for your lifestyle," Cook said in a recent interview with The Carlyle Group´s David Rubenstein published on Wednesday. He then encouraged the billionaire financier to stand with him — just like a prominent feature on the Apple Watch. Cook has previously cited

Comments:
I´m sure standing is good for some tasks, but not others. Liberals always opt for the across-the-board, one-size-fits-all approach to any ides.

The desks are adjustable; you can stand awhile, or sit. It´s their money, and spending on such things is a deductible business expense, which beats handing it over to the government to waste. A more pressing issue is how our absurd tax codes shape spending policies for businesses and individuals; a massive overhaul would be of great benefit to the nation, though to the detriment of all the tax attorneys and accountants who make money on this nonsense.

We were made with a joint at the hip to be able to sit. I stand to walk to my car, unless I get a ride to it, in which case I sit.
I sit at my desk, I sit at the dinner table, I sit when I watch a movie. I stand when I´m in my shop doing a project.
I´d not work for a company that requires me to stand at my desk.
The "new cancer" is LIBERALISM.

I tried an adjustable standing/sitting desk often advertised on TV, it was OK. Good posture is most important though. I´ve had lower back problems and I´ve found keeping straight with the shoulders directly above the hips means far more than sitting vs. standing.

What I love is the employees never have a choice in these pathetically, pathetically, politically correct, liberal companies. Those who claim to be the most tolerant are the most authoritarian. Those who claim the mantle of liberty are the most obsessively anti-liberty.

Hold on 1-sec #1. The standing desk would be considered a capital investment, and yes, is due for a write-off. However, the vendor will be making money and paying employees, who will all be paying taxes to the government. We just had a pretty nice overhaul of the tax system late last year. Let´s see how that works out over the next couple years.

#9, another new rule:

If an employee is standing and another employee stares at them for more than five seconds, they are in BIG trouble!

Cook is trying to be the new Steve Jobs. Unhinged and insane, but in charge.

#11 unfortunately for everything Apple, Cook is no Jobs. In fact I think this leftist progressive gay dope will erode the insane Apple loyalty Jobs built in one decade.

While Cook decrees working positions for Apple employees the market wonders if Apple is still interested in making computers. Their line is aging fast and crammed down decisions to the consumer about 1 port that requires extra adapters to work in the real world, is hurting the core of Apple. They are putting more and more eggs in the iPhone and apps business. That business never changes overnight. Just ask Nokia.

Jobs revolutionized music by asking record labels if they want .99 cents for a song or do they want to watch Napster steal everything. They bought it and Apple took off as the business story of the century. Jobs also made a cell phone a portable computer with all kinds of new functions. Cook has none of that vision or understanding of marketing and design. He fell into the position because he was a good production/parts/inventory manager. The Peter Principle at work.

I don´t know if I ever revealed this before to this forum, but its been a good while since I worked at Apple. (Yes, you have used products I worked on if you have ever used an iPhone or iTunes). Several people I worked with used variable-level desks. It was always a strange experience going to discuss things with them when they were standing. But if they were more comfortable, good for them. I wish I had spent less of my life sitting in front of a computer, but standing while typing doesn´t work for me at all.

Varying your position is not only better for your back, by it gives you a new view of your work environment as well. Good on Mr. Cook, and I am surprised that it took them so long to get those desks. The chair, other than for ceremonial purposes is a very recent development. It has created a bunch of people so physically disabled that they can´t squat down with their head up and back straight and pick up a coin set between their heels. Once a person becomes that disabled back pain and other maladies set in.

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. Americans are encouraged to embrace diversity and be culturally sensitive to those who have flouted our laws and invaded our nation. Meanwhile, illegal aliens arriving in America have no such requirement. Instead, trespassing tribes relocate, and when they do, rather than assimilate, they transfer habits and activities indigenous to the countries from whence they migrated. Thus, Americans suffer from illnesses that are easily traceable to third-world bathroom habits (TWBH) and lack of hygiene in the developing world. It´s not news that illegals work in restaurants as food-handlers. These restaurant workers migrate from
