IHOP changes name to IHOB:
Here´s what the ´b´ stands for

CNN, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 6/11/2018 12:35:15 PM

IHOP said on Monday that it´s temporarily changing its branding because the B stands for burgers. It´s only a marketing campaign. IHOP isn´t changing its name. But the chain of breakfast diners took social media by storm last week with the cryptic announcement that it was flipping the lowercase "p" in its logo and making it a "b." IHOP, of course, stands for International House of Pancakes. But IHOP — sorry, IHOb — wants to be known as a place to get lunch and dinner, not just breakfast and brunch. It´s adding several burgers to its menu, including a Big Brunch burger with bacon, a fried egg and browned potato on top.

Comments:
Maybe turning the "P" upside down was just giving the "finger" to it´s loyal patrons who liked it´s pancakes. Well, the could always sell "New Coke" with them. Mario Batali must have found a new "gig".

Desperate move to get their name in the news, not much else. I´d dump their stock right now if I had any.

Dumb move.
When ya change the name for no apparent reason other than putting a new ribbon on the old sow it can´t be good.
They know pancakes well, I´m not so sure about burgers.

“Branding”. One of the most unfortunate things to happen to our culture. Those who indulge in it are the hucksters and admen of old. Usually the only ones who profit from doing it. Constantly tinkering.

Did it ever occur to them that IHOP is easily pronounced in a way which sounds like words, while IHOb looks and sounds weird?

Not only that but I assumed it meant International House of Breakfast and I am not sure they want me to think it stands for International House of Burgers because I have no interest in eating the burger equivalent of their pancakes.

I would go to IHOP if there is one close enough when the mood strikes for pancakes. If I am looking for a burger, I am going to McDonalds before IHOb.

IHOP is also in the process of changing their small, friendly and inexpensive restaurants to large cattle pen operations with slow service and much more expensive meals. Above posters are correct, they will hit the drain very soon.

I´d never been to an IHOP until recently. I always like eating breakfast at any time of the day, so waffles and eggs in the evening are fine with me. My wife doesn´t eat breakfast so that didn´t interest her much. However, she had a burger and really liked it. We´ve been back a couple of times since.

When I first heard about this, I assumed it was just a short-term marketing campaign. To switch permanently from a name that people have known for years, the B would have to stand for Boneheaded.

I think it´s just an advertising campaign, otherwise, they would have IHOb trademarked. It is very costly to change a company name, few would do it just to promote an expanded menu. More than 90% of the restaurants are a franchise, still serving 24/7 breakfasts. As with any restaurant or fast food place, the food reflects the talent of the chef and as we all know, if honest - we humans can have an "off" day.
Now I´m wanting some bacon, sausage, eggs, and pancakes ....

Rather than slanging up the word "Hamburger", they should just be called the IHOH. At least you could get a kind of mental image from that word, vs the dumb bunny word...IHOB -What the Hell is a ´Hob´? Sounds like negative words like Nob, Knob, Slob, Lob, Snob- starts odd words like Hobbit, Hobo, Hobgoblin, Hobble, Hobnail-

In advertising, these are the mental connotations you absolutely try to avoid. "Hob" may be among the most negative of such word associations.

IHOB is deeply going to regret using such ignorant advertising consultants as the ones who came up with this blatant disregard for public endearment. This is actually worse than the "New Coke" disaster.

Rule one in advertising- "Do not fix things that are not broken"

President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday morning that the US should deport immigrants who enter the US illegally with no legal process. Trump said once "somebody comes in" the country, they should be removed with "no Judges or Court Cases" — a move that would violate the long-established legal precedent for immigrants´ rights to due process. Melbourne, FL — Peter Unger traveled the world, first in the Navy at the tail end of the Korean War and then as a free spirit searching the ancient paths of India for life’s sacred meaning. Toward the end of his life Unger, sporting a flowing white beard and well-off financially thanks to his handcrafted jewelry business, sought sanctuary in the idea of living simply. But in a twist of fate, the 85-year-old who shunned worldly cares was found dead May 7, alone in a nondescript white Ford van that sat parked undisturbed for days at a Walmart, a retail giant seen by many as America’s temple of commerce and materialism.

Trump administration officials say the U.S. government knows the location of all children in its custody after separating them from their families at the border and is working to reunite them. A fact sheet on "zero-tolerance prosecution and family reunification" released Saturday night by the Department of Homeland Security also says a parent must request that their child be deported with them. In the past, the agency says, many parents have elected to be deported without their children. That may be a reflection of violence or persecution they face in their home countries. It was Charles who collated the various strands of Ronald Reagan’s foreign policy and codified them as the Reagan Doctrine in a Time Magazine essay in 1985.
