Robert De Niro says ‘F--- Trump´
onstage at Tonys, gets standing ovation

The Hill, by Avery Anapol

Original Article

Posted By:PageTurner, 6/11/2018 12:36:51 AM

Actor Robert De Niro repeatedly declared “F— Trump” while speaking onstage at the Tony Awards on Sunday night, and promptly received a standing ovation. The profanity was bleeped out in the live broadcast, but tweets from attendees and reporters confirmed De Niro’s remarks. “I’m going to say one thing: ‘F— Trump,’” said the actor, who was presenting an award at the ceremony. “It’s no longer ‘down with Trump,´ it’s ‘f— Trump.’” The audience then erupted in cheers and stood clapping. DeNiro has been one of Trump’s harshest critics in the entertainment industry.

If I catch an old, actually good De Niro film - maybe "Raging Bull", "Taxi Driver", "Mean Streets", there´s a bunch -- I now see the old fool he becomes. He´s ruined his entire body of work for me. I doubt I´m alone.

It says a lot about his audience to give him a standing O for uttering what any middle school moron does without any intellectual effort. BTW: Trump is a college grad. DeNiro is a high school dropout.

I have an old friend I reconnected with on FB who is regularly apoplectic over Trump: "Undermining the rule of law, undermining the Constitution, blah, blah, blah--treason!"

But I never see any evidence posted. You´d think they´d be more concerned about a sitting president spying on the opposition, a la Nixon, but it seems there is a huge blind spot there, as well.

Oh well. I hope they will wear out their welcome with their over the top ranting.

The enemies within are revealing themselves. Every day now, it seems, more and more of them expose the truth about themselves - that they are not the "compassionate" ones, that they are not the "smart" ones - they, Democrats all, are in fact the mortal enemies of America.

Phony snobs who hate the "little people" who made them rich and famous, and who despise and hold contempt for the greatest nation in history and for what she stands for....equality, liberty, opportunity, freedom, etc. They don´t want people to have economic mobility. They are the elite. They love class hierarchy as long as they are at the top and can preach (dictate) to us how the rest of us should live. That is why they are lefties.

Sick, corrupt, evil...

De Niro, one of the uber rich like Peelousy, must still be bent out of shape that PT is making him pay his fair share of taxes by limiting State and property taxes to $10,000. I wonder what that´s costing him.

Well Bobby baby, you wanted higher taxes and now you´ve got them. Enjoy.

Mass hysteria. DeNiro and lefties like him live & travel in the echo chambers with like minded folks. They bounce off each other, out umbrage each other on every conceivable aspect of Trump. Anyone disagreeing or reconsidering Trump is ostracized and ejected from the group. They have driven themselves mad and Trump´s every move feeds their fury. Exhibit #1 for your consideration: Bobby D here.
And it´s going to only get worse for them as their Blue Wave turns into a blue puddle of their frustrated tears this Nov.
Nov ´16 redux.

DeNiro lost his acting ability a long time ago, he knows it and most actors and directors know it. What is upsetting but confirming is the seal-like applause of theater´s elite. Here I was thinking of going back and patronizing a Broadway show now that I can afford it with a steady job gained in the Trump economy and now, why should I bother?

I also agree that he should embrace paying higher taxes, like he wants us little people to do.

De Niro was just quoting John McCain. And paraphrasing the daily NY Times editorials about PDT.

We can expect the level of Trump hatred to increase no matter what success his policies achieve. I fully expect that every delegate as well as the press corps will be wearing the vulgar pink hats at the 2020 Democratic convention except when Bill Clinton speaks. Their convention will erupt in chants of “F—- Trump” at every mention of a Trump policy, tweet or Trump himself. Will be Dems rejoiner to Republican convention’s “USA”. When you don’t have sound, honest policies to offer, you have to resort to obscenities.

Did the old coot raise his cane and yell, “Get off my lawn!” too? The old curmudgeon should go sit on the porch and read the newspaper. Many Americans have deserted the theaters and are not going back to give their hard earned money to profane jerks. I am very selective about who gets my money, if any, in Hollywood. I don’t miss going to the movies either. In fact, it feels good to ignore them and their so called art.

Here´s an idea: Melania and Donald Trump should very publicly invite DeNiro and his wife to a Rose Garden tete a tete to ostensibly discuss this over the top hatred---Trump´s version of a "listening tour."
Trump knows exactly how to play the reality show celebrity game. By requesting such a private meeting in a WH garden (within view but out of earshot of the press) he would be instantly turning the tables on DeNiro.
Trump could feign listening while enjoying his lemonade. You just know DeNiro would arrive in some pornographic rumpled tee shirt---and he´d look like an idiot compared to the serenity and class of our quietly exquisite FLOTUS.
These rabid Hollywood dimwits would think twice about their outrageous behavior in the future because Trump would´ve demonstrated that he can beat them at their own game.

This seems personal. Native New Yorkers of roughly the same age and social prestige, I suspect Trump bested DeNiro in some way - likely financially or romantically or both - as DeNiro obviously dislikes him on a visceral level. In all honesty, Trump can seem cheeky and petty at times but, when the big picture is seen, his behavior often appears to be strategic. Maybe he´s been profane when on a dais speaking publicly but I can´t think of an instance. DeNiro just seems small and dull, a reflection of his industry. As for Hollywood in general, movie makers, including actors, are hemorrhaging audiences and are desperate. It shows.

De Niro isn´t really a stage actor anyway. i think he did one Broadway show in his entire career and that was a vanity production. The Broadway "community" should be angry at him. The purpose of the Tonys is to boost the Broadway industry. (Just as the purpose of the Oscars is movie ticket sales.) Alienating half the audience in fly-over country (the tourists who buy the tickets) is stupid. He never should have been on the show.

You know, from 1980-1991 I made my living as a Broadway actor. FWIW, I am a Tony Award nominated actor (1981 best featured actor in a play). And the ignorance of so many actors about public policy is mind numbing. But more than that, they are such bigots. (well, many are. not all) I remember telling a wig fitter who worked on the last show I did (1991) that I liked Ronald Reagan and thought he was a good president. No exaggeration, you´d think I´d said "I love Hitler. Isn´t it great that Martin Luther King was shot down dead. If only it had happened sooner, etc" Now, she´s perfectly free to disagree about Reagan. but let´s not act like it was MY opinion that was out of the mainstream. It was HERS that was out of the mainstream.

What a vile little man DeNiro has become. He should have stuck to memorizing scripts and not showing his extremely low-IQ single syllable vocabulary on public stages. No one with half a brain wants to hear what he has to say about anything.

While a notable few actors are intelligent (Hedy Lamarr comes to mind, and James Woods), most are ignorant and worse, dumb as dirt. When they opine on matters too lofty for their brains, they lose me and any affection I may have had for their work.

Do they know how moronic they sound, especially when they are profane? ("Ahm a NASSSTY woman!")

As I suspected, not too deep down, Hollywood is a very racist place. Why do they have a problem with minorities doing so much better financially now than in the past 50 years? The economy is roaring, families are getting off food stamps because there are actual jobs now. Women are being put in positions of power that 50 years was never thought of. They really do have a problem and it´s not President Trump. It´s also too bad that De Niro´s vocabulary is so limited so he sounds like a preteen trying to act tough.

After this De Niro outrage, I looked up his background on Wikileaks. Born to painters who divorced when De Niro was very young. Grandparents and father raised him. He attended "The Little Red Schoolhouse" in NYC for his 7th and 8th grades. (Yes, that
"progressive" "little RED Schoolhouse.") He left high school at 16 and became an actor. He spouts rehearsed lines before a camera. That makes his opinion worthy of hearing?

Re #60, how interesting to hear from an actor with a brain! As a whole, actors are not held in particularly high regard around here because they are not believed to be really as smart as they think they are about our country’s affairs. It was not easy for Ronald Reagan to get himself elected because of that general mindset. Your Reply is refreshing!

There´s an old quote floating around out there -- I forget who said it; doesn´t matter -- that says "the dumbest people make the best actors" or something similar.

Think about it. When a skull is hopelessly empty it provides space for the writings and characterizations of legitimate thinkers and artists. Nothing difficult about that.

So when you consider the inside of an actor´s head as a type of lameass stomach, acting is basically the barfing out of another person´s partially-digested breakfast.

Nice work if you can get it. Some dumb people are really good at it.

It´s when the partially-digested brain-barfers go off script that they find themselves in trouble. We´ve seen this a million times.

Make that a million and one. Smooth move, robert. You´re only helping, dummy.

The East Coast nabobs in the audience don´t realize that TOURISTS from fly-over, Trump voting areas account for a vast majority of the attendance at NY Broadway theaters as tickets are often included as a package deal when you rent your hotel room! Leftwing protestors are blasting loud taped recordings of bawling children at the residence of Homeland Security secretary Kristjen Nielsen in Alexandria, Virginia. It´s an action that follows from a controversial cover of Time magazine, which ran a picture of a crying child supposedly separated from her mother at the border, which turns out to have been a false claim to support a leftist narrative. What´s followed from that now is the cry-blasting from the left. They´re out to disturb the peace, as they are inclined to do, to promote their real agenda, which is ending immigration enforcement at U.S. borders entirely. This time,

Former Fox News contributor George Will says voters must punish Republican “poodles” during the midterm elections to “quarantine” the president. An op-ed in Friday’s Washington Post by the long-time political pundit and conservative calls for voters to end the “carnage of Republican misrule” in Washington. Mr. Will claimed the “most telegenic example” of a need to oust Republicans exists with the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding illegal immigrants along the U.S. southern border. “The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of

This morning, my 2-year-old son and I watched a rat rummage through the trash in our gutter. “Things have been getting worse and worse on my block since 2010, and the city does NOTHING to fix it,” the angry

NPR published an opinion piece by writer Monique Truong that claims in the headline that it is "hypocrisy" for administration members who support President Trump´s way of handling the long-ignored border crisis to eat at Mexican restaurants. These are people who work for the president, of course, so they are essentially being taken to task for doing their jobs. Truong considers recent forays to Mexican food dining establishments by administration policy adviser Stephen Miller and
