Memorial Day weekend in Chicago:
7 killed, 32 wounded by gunfire

Chicago Tribune, by Jeremy Gorner and Paige Fry

Original Article

Posted By:greggojo, 5/29/2018 3:17:23 PM

At least seven people were killed and 32 others were wounded by gunfire in Chicago over the sweltering Memorial Day weekend as more than 1,000 extra police officers patrolled the streets, beaches and parks. Shootings happened in neighborhoods stretching as far south as West Pullman and Brainerd, to West Side communities like Austin and East Garfield Park and to Northwest Side areas that usually don’t see much violence like Portage Park and Albany Park. One strangulation death also was reported.

Comments:
Well, at least they reported the deaths, injuries and the wilding all over the city. btw, The Tribune has closed down their comment section. Just like MSN did. As a comment on the WSJ put it: [The Left´s "thinking"] derives from post-modernist theories that everything in society is about power structure and hierarchy--and nothing else. Which leads to inane ends such as the notion that even engaging the right in debate is in fact acknowledging their power and place in the hierarchy....thus the right should simply be shouted down and not allowed to speak."

Looks like the feral people had a good time, let ´em keep at it until there´s only enough left to put in a police paddy wagon. One sweep and done, save bundles of budget money.

Only seven were killed on Chicago over the memorial weekend?

Detroit has you beat. Fellow Detroiters managed to kill nine of their brethren over the holiday.

Where´s the recognition?

Another bang up weekend in Chicago. Eight more that won´t be breeding. This must be a form of weekend recreation now.

Immigration whiplash? Trump says

President Trump on Friday morning said he would not sign a moderate immigration bill currently working its way through Congress -- although by the afternoon, the White House seemed to try walking it back, prolonging a day of confusion amid Congress´ long fight for an immigration policy overhaul. In an interview with “Fox and Friends”, Trump said that while he was “looking at both” immigration proposals in Congress– one spearheaded by Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia and the more moderate bill proposed by House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis. – he would not sign Ryan’s so-called compromise bill because it

Nerves can wreck any performer’s day. Not Courtney Hadwin. When the British teen auditioned on America’s Got Talent, she confessed to her battle with nerves right from the start. Nerves of steel, more like. Hadwin surprised everyone in the room as she wheeled around the stage and belted out Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle,” covered in the ´90s by the Black Crowes. "Bloody hell Courtney,” enthused judge Simon Cowell. “You were this shy little thing when you came out. Then you sing and you’re like a lion. I mean, genuinely incredible.”

The fates seemed to line up against Justify as he sought to become the 13th horse in history to win the Triple Crown. From his tender heel the day after he won the Kentucky Derby to his tired performance in the Preakness to his starting position on the dreaded rail in the Belmont Stakes, he’d encountered obstacles that have defeated many an excellent horse. It would take a great champion to render all those subplots meaningless. Justify, as it turns out, is just that.

WASHINGTON -- When it comes to the Iran nuclear deal, the Obama administration increasingly appears to have been a bottomless pit of deception. First, President Barack Obama failed to disclose to Congress the existence of secret side deals on inspections when he transmitted the nuclear accord to Capitol Hill. (They were only uncovered by chance when then-Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., learned about them during a meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency officials in Vienna.)

Thankfully, the plan didn´t work. A STEM professor at the University of Akron in Ohio was trying to boost his students´ grades - just because those students are women. On Monday, the professor, Liping Liu, sent an email to students letting them know that three groups of students may see their grades raised a "level or two," according to a screenshot of the email that was posted on Reddit. The screenshot has since been removed because it contained recipients’ email addresses, however, a redacted copy of it was provided by a student to Campus Reform. The Justice Department’s internal watchdog is probing James Comey´s handling of classified information as part of the memos he gave to a friend documenting discussions with President Trump. A source familiar with the probe confirmed the inspector general is looking at whether classified information was given to unauthorized sources as part of a broader review of his communications outside the bureau -- including media contact. The developments put the ex-FBI boss in the crosshairs of an investigation just as his former deputy faces a criminal referral over a separate leak.

With the U.S. Census Bureau reporting yet another year of population loss for the city, it doesn’t take an investigator to determine the causes. The city’s scary record of 343 homicides in 2017 affirms the city’s well-known reputation as a dangerous place to live. Even if 2018 has fewer homicides, it doesn’t take a fortune teller to predict that this year’s homicide rate will be high. Until the city substantially reduces its homicide and other crimes rates, people will continue to view the city as dangerous and be reluctant to stay or move here.

Thousands upon thousands of media reports over the last year and a half have intimated, suggested, or flat-out asserted that President Donald Trump is a traitor who colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton. What this widely held theory lacks in evidence, its diehard supporters in the media and other anti-Trump bastions make up for with their faith-filled conviction of its truth. An alternate storyline has been unfolding over that same time.

As he cooks breakfast, the smell of scrambled eggs and ripe sewage combine. There is no sewer hookup so when the storage tank is full, as it is this day, everyone holds on until they can get to a nearby gas station.

It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Bush’s commentary comes as more images and accounts from inside the detention centers have

The state of Illinois has approved $224 million to pay for street and transportation projects in Chicago´s South Side neighborhood around the Obama Presidential Center site, $199 million of which will fall directly on the shoulders of Illinois taxpayers. The floats at the Boise Pride Festival have changed drastically over nearly three decades. Dallas Chase knows this well. Chase, 71, attended the first festival in Boise, an informal gathering in 1989. She was part of the team that built the first "float." It consisted of a borrowed wagon from her neighbor decorated with painted cardboard. "It was done in secret in my garage," Chase said. In those days, Chase said festivalgoers wore masks to avoid having their identities revealed.
