Starbucks to tell staff ´prejudice is

Starbucks is closing more than 8,000 of its coffee shops across the US on Sunday for a four-hour, anti-bias training session – almost two months since an employee at a Philadelphia location called the police on two black men accused of trespassing as they waited, without making a purchase, to be joined for a meeting. Since the incident, which sparked protests and threats of a boycott against a chain known for actively promoting a diverse workforce and taking liberal stands on issues such as same-sex marriage, senior executives have repeatedly apologized. The company reached a settlement with Donte Robinson and

So what happens if a ´person of color´ is disruptive, hanging out for hours on end, and/or tying up the restroom? They are setting themselves up for more trouble.

They can close ´em permanently, that´d be good. To buy into the hyper-sensitive racial bromides is bad enough, but to compel their employees to absorb and believe is beyond what I can stand from them. I like coffee but don´t need to be a SJW jerk about it.

The prejudice in this country is not about race. It is about politics. It is led by Democrats, promoted by Democrats, and whipped into a raging fire by Democrats.
Democrats have no respect for the individual. Their dogma centers on "issues." The work, the accomplishments, the moral core of the person means nothing to them. The best example is their derision and hatred of the President. In spite of his stellar performance and gritty fortitude, they cannot utter a single word of praise.

And my prejudice against Starbucks becomes more "deeply rooted." I´ll not set foot in a Starbucks outlet.

I recall in the late 60´s early 70´s the Navy had a "mandatory" sensitive training thing called U.P.W.A.R.D. (understanding personal worth and racial dignity) it was a 40 hour course. At the end of it they handed out a survey sheet for comments. My answer was, "I now have a sour stomach from the lousy coffee served and a flat butt caused by sitting here all week." My evaluations dropped that quarter.
A "whopping 4 hour course on a Sunday afternoon that is mandatory will do so much for my attitude. Get real starsux.

I haven´t looked closely, but I´ll bet that some company is getting rich by conducting the "training" for Starbucks.

After an individual in a company I was affiliated with, years ago, made a dumb statement that a person who was not a party to the conversation didn´t like, the company was forced to conduct "sensitivity training."
An individual showed up with a tape which she played. It was the well-known "Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes" story. That´s all she did. Her company was *well* paid.
I´d like to know what Starbucks is paying for the "training."

The most fear I felt in the U.S. Army was in Basic Training when we marched into the Fort Auditorium for "race training". We all got along OK, up until then, but afterward the black hostility in the crowd as we piled out of the place was so thick I was expecting a shiv in my ribs at any minunte. Even the black Drill Sgts. were on stage angrily telling their hate whitey stories. It was horrible.

By the way, the WORST case of "racism" I´ve ever seen in my life was also in the Army with American blacks on Asian racism. Blacks are by FAR more racist than any other race I´ve ever seen. But we dare not accuse them of it.

What these fool stores, like Starbucks, chalk up as "racism" is actually "culturalism" wherein some black ghetto punk walks into an establishment wearing a wife-beater shirt with pants around his knees, and complain when he gets kicked out for dress code, etc. That´s NOT "race-ism" it´s "degenerate culture-ism."

We should develop a "Business Owner´s Bill of Rights" in this country, allowing businesses to legally eject:
Stinky people
Poorly-dressed people
Loud-obnoxious people
Discourteous people
etc.

Were I an employee of Starbucks, there is no way in HELL I would put up with this nonsense. I would refuse to attend any anti-bias training - (indoctrination really). I already know how to behave in society and therefore, don´t tell me I am secretly biased against anyone. Starbucks should have apologized and moved on, not set the business world on fire and make jackasses out of themselves.

Starbucks doesn´t think much of its own employees.

I don´t believe for a minute the worker who called police did so out of "prejudice."

More likely she was taught that the facilities are for the comfort of paying customers, not people who walk in off the street and take up space.

I make good coffee at home. If I want the Starbux experience I pour myself a cup, call my own name out incorrectly, light a five dollar bill on fire and scrap the ashes into the coffee. Now I guess I´ll have to feel guilty about be White and maybe even knock myself out playing Hoodrat solitaire (knock out game for one).
On second thought, I´ll pass.

But, I might decide to check the effectiveness of their "anti-bias training" and enter one of their stores with my clearly marked Dunkin Donuts cup, and a bag of those great Dunkin donuts to go with them. I will set up my office at one of their tables, open my laptop, and enjoy their atmosphere of anti-bias.

One of the final arbitrations I heard, prior to retirement, was at HQ of a large manufacturer, who had brought two women in to do sensitivity training for employees. The case was quite complex, from a contractual standpoint, and I relied on NLRB rulings and court cases as to what union members could and could not say in their relationship with management.
Without going into detail, the two women testified at the arbitration hearing, which took two days to complete. And while I usually didn´t ask many questions of witnesses, in this case, I finally asked, "Is there ANYTHING an employee can say to a woman or minority?"
(The question was rhetorical - the training seemed to exclude any social interaction at work.)

#15 - When I was teaching a chemistry lab in the 1970´s there was a stinky hippie. I went to the head of the chemistry department to ask if I could bar him from the lab. If the ventilation hoods were on and he walked behind you, the stench would be drawn past you and outside, but you would gag. I was told that this would be discrimination and that I could not force him to clean up. Things have not changed in 40+ years.

Hillary Clinton weighed in Monday morning on the ongoing controversy regarding the Trump administration’s "no-tolerance” border policy, suggesting that Jesus would not condone the actions of the American border authorities. At an awards lunch for the Women’s Forum of New York, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee called out “those who selectively use the Bible” to give grounds for the separations, which were reported by the Department of Justice on Friday. “I went to a lot of years of Sunday school — even taught it from time to time. I’ve studied both the Old and New Testament, and what is being

Republican Senate candidate Mitt Romney called on the Trump administration Monday to stop separating immigrant families at the southern border, calling the controversy a “humanitarian crisis” that requires Congress to devise a permanent solution. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, declined to blame President Trump or the Department of Homeland Security specifically in remarks to a group of voters at a park here. He called images of children separated from their parents “pretty disturbing” and “heartbreaking.” “I think immediately we should go back to the setting where we’re not ripping children away from their parents, and then we expect Congress to take

LANSING — The unprecedented outpouring of activism from students after the shooting at Marjorie Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla., in February is the genesis for a bill introduced in the Legislature last week that would change the voting age in Michigan to 16. "We allow 16-year-olds to go off and get jobs and pay taxes, but we fail to allow them to exercise their voice come election time," said Sen. David Knezek, D-Dearborn Heights. "Young people are setting aside their differences and identifying issues they think need to change. And they can do everything to get that change

Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,

Roseanne Barr has become untouchable due to the "Valerie Jarrett/Ambien/Planet of the Apes" controversy, irrevocably contaminated by racism. This presents a problem for ABC, which canceled her revived show but wants the show to return in some form because it had high ratings. The apparent solution is to create a new show focused on the daughter character "Darlene," which would exclude Roseanne. Unfortunately, Roseanne Barr owns a chunk of the show, and ABC doesn´t want to be seen letting Barr profit from it, so ABC is in talks to buy the show from Barr so she would not technically profit

The Justice Department’s tepid OIG report, with its risible assertion that there was no political bias in the FBI’s Clinton email probe, suggests that it was written by people afraid to tell the unvarnished truth about the conduct of the federal government’s police apparatus, an agency that openly defies congressional oversight and has participated in a vendetta against a sitting president. The FBI’s leadership clearly hopes that the Democrats will win majorities in Congress and put a halt to the investigations into its multifarious abuses of power. The OIG is loath to face the ruthless reprisals that would inevitably follow

FBI Director Wray has said nothing to reassure Americans that he understands the serious corruption highlighted in the IG report. The FBI´s cover-ups and stonewalling on Wray´s watch add to his credibility problems. Both in is his press conference after the IG report was released, and in his testimony Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Director Wray demonstrated he was more concerned about protecting the reputation of the institution of the FBI than about the astonishing corruption of top FBI officials detailed in the IG report. During today’s hearing we heard about FBI agents who aren’t corrupt and how the Clinton email

Monday at a border patrol facility in McAllen, TX on “CBS This Morning,” co-host Gayle King said the Statue of Liberty is “weeping right now” over the separating of immigrant children from their families. King said “We arrived yesterday afternoon. We went straight to the facility, the location where kids and their parents were reunited. All I can say after talking to the people, watching the people, listening to the people, that the Statue of Liberty I think is weeping right now. It’s unbelievable the stories we’ve heard.” She added, “We’re standing in front of a converted warehouse. This is

Fired FBI Director James Comey refused to appear before Congress on Monday to talk about his handling of the Clinton email investigation, and his fired deputy, Andrew McCabe, asserted his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch also declined to show up for a major hearing where the Senate Judiciary Committee was looking into the inspector general’s report detailing major bungles in Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation. Mr. Comey’s lawyer said he was out of the country — though Sen. Charles E. Grassley, committee chairman, said he saw Mr. Comey

A Guatemalan asylum-seeker sued the Trump administration on Tuesday for ´forcibly´ separating her from her seven-year-old son after they crossed the border in May. Beata Mariana de Jesus Mejia-Mejia was never indicted for illegally entering the country, but officials won´t tell where her son Darwin is, according to her lawsuit filed Tuesday in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. against 6 federal agencies and 10 senior officials. Mejia-Mejia´s lawsuit is believed to be the first to challenge the government´s removal of a specific child from a parent in the course of upholding federal immigration law. It opens up a new legal front
