Players Considering New Forms of Protests
for Revised National Anthem Policy

Sports Illustrated, by Charlotte Carroll

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 5/24/2018 6:24:42 PM

Some NFL players are reportedly considering new ways to protest after NFL owners voted on a new national anthem policy Wednesday, reports Sports Illustrated´s Robert Klemko. According to Klemko, some are discussing ways to skirt new rules "just to spite the NFL." The policy removes a requirement for players to be on the field for the anthem, and gives players the option to stay in the locker room. Teams will be fined for any personnel that "do not show proper respect for the flag and Anthem” on the sidelines. Other journalists were hearing similar things from players they talked to.

The rumored 15 yard penalty would have been far more effective than simply money. Just the interpersonal dynamics of team sports, most players don´t want to let down the team, and if a player puts his team in a 15 yard hole before they even start, the teammates will handle the problem themselves.

The best way to protest is to quit their high paying jobs and go to Hawaii and knell in front of a lava flow.

After about 10 years of having the DirecTV NFL package, I told my wife not to bother this year.

They want to "stick it to the owners", huh?

NFL stands for Not For Long, as most have very short careers. Why waste it, as there are many other ways to get the points they want addressed highlighted than protesting during the national anthem.

What will these spoiled football players do if they drive away all the fans and destroy the game? Do they have any other marketable skills that would pay any where near as much as they do now? I think they are close to finding out and they won´t like the answer.

Players who wish to protest can rent a stadium or auditorium with their own money and stage whatever protest they think is appropriate. See how many attendees they attract.

Most fans who either buy tickets or watch the game on media are interested in watching football, not childish protests by prima donna entertainers.

The players job is to fill stadiums and attract viewers, not hijack games for political purposes. Do they not understand that basic fact?

Just what are they protesting. Where else in the world could they have made as much money as they make now. They are the top 1 per cent that the Progressives keep knocking. They have the cars, mansions, women, fame, etc. and still are not satisfied. What have they done for the Black community? They can afford to do so much. Who pays the big bucks to attend their games? Not the black community. I don´t see a lot of black faces filling up the stands. They are barking up the wrong tree and don´t seem to be able to get out of it gracefully. Too bad because they are ruining an American tradition.

A local talk radio station took calls from listeners to see how this rule change would affect them. I would guess 90% said they would still NEVER watch NFL again. So the players are going to double down again? When they lose their multi-million dollar contracts who is going to pay the baby-mamas? I´m sick of this spectacle, let´s move on to something more important. Like taking care of veterans and senior citizens.

How about the league confiscates 10% of their salaries and spends it on diversion programs for inner city youts. Such a program would be designed to divert them from becoming gangstas, rappers, pimps, and targets for police after they provoke the cops.

A successful program would decrease Blacks getting shot by police, but it probably wouldn´t stop Blacks being shot by other Blacks.

I came of age in the Lombardi era and have been a life long Packer´s fan.
We lived in the South for a quarter century, but did fly north to see the occasional game at Lambeau Field. However, I am done. The players are grossly over paid, the game is not the same and the field is populated with ´social justice warriors´. I am also tired of the teams raping the taxpayers to fund stadiums. For the first time in my life, I ignored the NFL last season and the Packer´s in particular. I plan to do the same for the rest of my life.

The boycott-Trump movement has resurged. Shannon Coulter, a brand and digital strategist, started the #GrabYourWallet hashtag in October 2016 to encourage people seeking a way to take concrete action against Donald Trump to boycott companies — large and small — that do business with his family. As a result, brands such as Nordstrom, Jet.com, and Gilt dropped Ivanka Trump´s fashion line last year. While Coulter has remained steadfast in her quest to encourage the other 62 retailers, nonprofits, and even a movie produced by Harvey Weinstein to ditch Trump products, the issue has peaked once more among consumers and

Mr. Will claimed the “most telegenic example” of a need to oust Republicans exists with the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding illegal immigrants along the U.S. southern border. “The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of

This morning, my 2-year-old son and I watched a rat rummage through the trash in our gutter. “Things have been getting worse and worse on my block since 2010, and the city does NOTHING to fix it,” the angry
