What erupting volcano? Golfers appear more

the 12,000ft plume of toxic ash billowing from
Hawaii´s Kilauea peak as USGS warns it*

As thousands flee Hawaii´s Big Island ahead of the imminent ´explosive´ eruption of the Kilauea volcano, some have been seen taking a less dramatic approach. A logic-defying photograph taken on Tuesday shows a group of golfers more concerned with finishing their round than the mountain spewing ash and sulphur dioxide 12,000 feet into the air behind them. The US Geographical Survey (USGS) says Kilauea has 20 open fissures now, with some of them continuously erupting and that lava bombs the size of microwaves were found a few hundred yards from the Halemaumau crater on Wednesday morning. ´This morning dense ballistic

And all things considered, Tama said, there was no reason to be concerned. The plume looks like it’s several dozen yards over the golfers’ shoulders, but Tama shot the photograph with a telephoto lens, which alters depth perception. The plume is really several miles away. He couldn’t feel any Earthshaking or seismic activity normally associated with an eruption. The wind was blowing away from the course, so there was no smell of that sulfur dioxide, either.

It wasn’t even especially hot, said Tama, who has been on the Big Island for 11 days already documenting the eruption.

“Even though it was visually insane, it didn’t feel like there was a massive sense of urgency to get out of there,” he added.

Tama was just a nuisance to the golfers, who had to tell him to get off the course so that they could continue their play.

Seeing reported that this eruption may go on for a few more months. Ya got to hand it to the Daily Mail - even if their writing is atrocious - they have pictures. Of course the pictures with the golfers etc distort the distance - at least the reporter admits that - telephoto lens & all. Love the ´slider´ photo at the end - before & after the fissure went thru. I have heard said that volcanologists are about the least smart & scientific of the geologists - as they are prone to walk into hot craters etc. Please note that the locals are putting out bottles of booze to appease the goddess Pele.

In Caddyshack (1980) after the bishop´s golf game in the thunderstorm in which he missed the final putt for a course record, screamed "Aw, rat farts!" and was struck by lightning, he´s in the country club bar drowning his sorrows. His golf game had been affected, and he was not pleased, same as the golfers from the Big Island whose golf games might be disrupted by some 2,000 degree magma. I know exactly how they feel. The bishop had it right. But that´s not all he said.

Tony D´Annunzio: Another Rob Roy, Bishop?
Bishop: You never ask a Navy man if he´ll have another drink, because it´s nobody´s g*ddamned business how many drinks he´s had already, right?
Judge Smails: Wrong! You´re drinking too much, Your Excellency.
Bishop: Excellency, fiddlesticks! My name´s Fred and I´m a man, same as you.
Judge Smails: You´re not a man, you´re a bishop, for God´s sakes.
Bishop: There is no God...

On Friday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh received a call he will not soon forget, nor will his listeners. A man named Jerome, calling from Traverse City, Michigan, got on the line to fulfill one of his dreams: to tell Mr. Limbaugh that he saved his life while Jerome was in prison serving out an eight-year-sentence. In the epic call, the 26-year-old described the chance circumstances of him stumbling upon Limbaugh´s program, which exposed harmful liberal fallacies, and spit out a slew of facts offhand to rip the empty Hope-and-Change he was promised with former President Barack Obama. Democrats Could Face Midterm

Democrats had been counting on victories in at least half a dozen California congressional districts to bring them closer to the 24 needed to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Republicans only hold 14 seats in the Golden State, and Hillary Clinton won many of those districts in the 2016 election. But a combination of factors — including an excess of Democratic contenders, and a surge in Republican enthusiasm — could thwart those plans. California has a unique primary system called the “top two” or “jungle” primary, under which every voter can vote for any candidates, and the top two vote-winners advance

But that “new security architecture” will be built with an eye toward defending against the regime’s involvement in two civil wars and support for terrorism. “Our broad approach now that we’ve been emphasizing is that we
