Code Name Crossfire Hurricane: The
Secret Origins of the Trump Investigation

New York Times, by Matt Apuzzo*

WASHINGTON — Within hours of opening an investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia in the summer of 2016, the F.B.I. dispatched a pair of agents to London on a mission so secretive that all but a handful of officials were kept in the dark. Their assignment, which has not been previously reported, was to meet the Australian ambassador, who had evidence that one of Donald J. Trump’s advisers knew in advance about Russian election meddling. After tense deliberations between Washington and Canberra, top Australian officials broke with diplomatic protocol and allowed the ambassador, Alexander Downer, to sit for an

Comments:
This is absolutely astonishing. The first thing I noted was that they broke with diplomatic protocol and the Australian ambassador met with the FBI. Can you say Barack Hussein Obama and John Kerry? I´m puzzled that the NYT is reporting this because it sure doesn´t make the Obama regime look good. It confirms their criminal behavior.

So the FBI opened an investigation on a US presidential candidate during the campaign because of the uttering of a drunk? Really? And the Aussie goobernment risked beyond usual diplomatic conflicts just to sport their "I´m with Her´ t-shirt? I never in my youth thought I would live to see a time where everyday brings a new low to our goobernment. Oh, and even though tihis is terrible news about the beloved FBI, the Slime did its upmost best to blame Trump and make excuses for the ´courageous´ agents in the FBI.

The Dark State is in trouble and the NYTs is starting to spin a narrative. A good narrative has some truth, but count on the NYTs for mostly spin, as they can´t tell the truth.

Since it is published in the NYT and concerns the President, my starting position is that it is a pack of lies.

Will not even bother to click. If there happens to be some accidental facts, I will obtain them elsewhere.

This article, which was ghost-written by Comey buddies Dan Richman and Ben Wittes, will not age well — in fact, it will age even worse than Crooked Hillary has aged. It will backfire hugely on the Slimes stenographers and co-conspirators who by-lined it, as well as the soon-to-be-outed criminals (Sally Yates, Mary McCord, Peter Strzok etc etc) so lovingly portrayed in it. And poor Little Marco will rue the day he got in bed with these vipers.

If this started with a line from the AAP piece above:
"It was at a boozy night in May 2016, at London´s Kensington Wine Rooms ... "

it would almost be a decent first chapter of a novel.

That is one of the most carefully "crafted" articles I have ever read. Every other sentence (and every revealed "fact") is colored to the theme of FBI innocence and political neutrality -- or toward how hard and unfair they were to Clinton.

This is the stuff the left willing reads and digests. This is the way things played out entirely for the pre-internet years -- as the ´coasties´ shaped the thinking of the nation.

The strength and confidence it has taken to resist all of this truth twisting long enough for the actual truth to slowly seep into the public´s minds is one of our president´s greatest assets. Yes, and gifts to our nation.

Thank you forever and ever President Trump!

This whole thing is the dirtiest episode we have ever not seen in American politics and the NY Times continues to try t protect the felons from Obama down who perpetrated it.

U.S. intelligence officials who participated in the 2016 Russian interference narrative/scheme are now attempting to justify their conspiratorial conduct with leaks to the New York Times and Washington Post. Their leaks are a transparent effort to justify prior conduct. This cover-up endeavor has been their primary focus since congress started demanding documentary evidence from the DOJ, FBI, State Department and intelligence participants in the scheme.

American journalism is dead, and it has been dead for years. In all that has happened the main stream media has refused to do one minute of investigation. Pure and simple refuse to do anything but spin a narrative that protects their ideology. Journalists have become lazy, ill informed and incredibly biased. You won´t get a major media job unless you follow the narrative and look good doing it.

These people don´t deserve the title journalist. They know nothing about journalism, they are hacks that spin. I spit on their shoes!

From Kimberley Strassel:

1. So a few important points on that new NYT "Hurricane Crossfire" piece. A story that, BTW, all of us following this knew had to be coming. This is DOJ/FBI leakers´ attempt to get in front of the facts Nunes is forcing out, to make it not sound so bad. Don´t buy it. It´s bad.
2. Biggest takeaway: Govt "sources" admit that, indeed, the Obama DOJ and FBI spied on the Trump campaign. Spied. (Tho NYT kindly calls spy an "informant.") NYT slips in confirmation far down in story, and makes it out like it isn´t a big deal. It is a very big deal.
3. In self-serving desire to get a sympathetic story about its actions, DOJ/FBI leakers are willing to provide yet more details about that "top secret" source (namely, that spying was aimed at Page/Papadopoulos)--making all more likely/certain source will be outed. That´s on them

"Cross-fire Hurricane," reveals their intentions and their strategy.

From the urban dictionary: "A catergory 5 hurricane which exceeds the perimeter of the wind volocities and forms tornados in the inner eyewall." It was noted in Cecil
Adam´s blog that the winds in such a storm turn 180 degrees, but that´s not 90 degrees, as ´cross´ implies.

´Cross-fire´ evokes another analogy, which is a standard infantry tactic to take out an enemy target. In this scenario a force is divided in two parts, one engages the target head-on to draw their attention while the other part sweeps to the flank. The flanking party then easily overruns the distracted target.

The Steele memo fed to Papadopoulos and to the press created conditions for an initial
skirmish line targeting minor players to create embarrassment, allegations and smoke, enough to distract and cause a panic, while the flank, in this case the justice department, swept through to disrupt the administration and collect information from which to assemble a legal case similar to Watergate.

I thought this analogy might be helpful in understanding what at first glance seems an intricate and imaginative scheme. It isn´t.

Secret FBI source for Russia investigation met

Washington Post, by Robert Costa*    Original Article

In mid-July 2016, a retired American professor approached an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign at a symposium about the White House race held at a British university. The professor took the opportunity to strike up a conversation with Carter Page, whom Trump had named a few months earlier as a foreign policy adviser. But the professor was more than an academic interested in American politics — he was a longtime U.S. intelligence source. And, at some point in 2016, he began working as a secret informant for the FBI as it investigated Russia’s interference in the campaign, according to people familiar

U.S. law enforcement and intelligence officials have leaked extremely sensitive information about a top secret source three times in the last week while claiming that confidentially sharing information about the source with congressional investigators could greatly impact U.S. national security and potentially risk the source’s life. The officials have leaked specific information that could directly identify the source on three separate occasions to reporters at the Washington Post and New York Times. This raises even more questions about whether current top intelligence and law enforcement officials can be trusted to obey the law and to
