Publix is supporting Adam Putnam´s run for
governor like it has no politician before

Tampa Bay Times [FL], by Steve Contorno

Original Article

The Florida supermarket giant Publix has given more money to Adam Putnam’s gubernatorial bid than any other candidate since at least 1995 and likely for the entirety of the company’s history. Publix, the heirs to the company’s founder and its current and former leaders have given Putnam $670,000 in the last three years — or enough money to buy 74,527 chicken tender subs. No other Florida candidate has ever come close to that kind of subsidy from Florida’s largest Fortune 500 company. Its most recent contribution, a $100,000 donation on April 30, was the largest, too, according to the latest campaign finance

Here´s a welcome switch: large company backs a pro-business Republican who´s derided by opponents as an immigration hardliner.

Adam looks like a locally grown homeboy who made good in Florida politics, with a little help from family and friends. He will make a great Governor. This boy is going somewhere. I can expect him to be a rising star within the Republican party and hopefully, he will be a big help in draining out the Rino´s. I hope he is a true Conservative.

I was sad because I had no Wawa until I realized most states don´t have a Publix. I´m glad to see such a fantastic store supporting a Republican.

Hmmm.

My president has supported DeSantis. I tend to support Trump. What should I do?

There are two new Publix stores near me. Makes me question going out of the way to them, in stead of a closer Food Lion....

Well, Mr. Putnam, that explains why the sale meat was repackaged and re-dated and spoiled. Hopefully, this article will bite you in the rear end.

Publix has changed since the founder passed away. Prices are higher to eliminate low income shoppers.

It also explains why for several weeks there were ads against DeSantis nonstop. Based on this article, I will not vote for Putnam.

When I first moved to Florida in 1982, for the first twelve months I lived in a cheap $300/mo apartment directly behind a Publix. Although I don´t shop there exclusively, 95% of my not too voluminous food budget is spent there. The employees have nearly always served me with cheerful alacrity if I needed service. Cashiers are usually quite personable. If you like people, you´ll find a lot of good ones in there. I could spend less at Sam´s, Walmart, Winn Dixie, Aldi, Save a Lot, Usave, Safeway, and a couple of others, but I usually don´t.

One other thing: Adam Putnam would most likely govern as a conservative if he reached the office. President Trump supports Ron DeSantis, which is fine. I listen to his public pronouncements, and Pitnam´s, and read the papers. Naturally, there are scare ads out against DeSantis. Soros, maybe, who knows. (He´s trying to buy important state attorneys seats and staff them with, essentially, comminists. The anti-DeSantis group is a ghost group, at least to a television viewer. I´ve paid these ads scant attention. Somebody doesn´t like DeSantis. So?

Because I am confident he´s not a phony, I am leaning toward Putnam, Agriculture Commissioner (2011 to present) of recent years.

If you got a "Concealed Weapon or Firearm License, State of Florida" since 2011, Ag Commish Adam H. Putnam´s printed name and signature is on it. His predecessor was named--I kid you not--Charles H. Bronson (2001-2011). Yep, these CCWs expire in seven years, so those old Bronson permits are now nice keepsakes, no longer valid.

Charles Bronson on a concealed carry permit! It just don´t get any better than that. Florida is hip.

Poorly written article. I had to google Putnam to learn he is a Republican. Usually omitting the party indicates a Rat. My parents live in Lakeland, so I´ve been in Publix, but I know little about the company. When it comes to grocery stores, I´m a Wegmans man. Author seems to be intimating something tawdry with these donations. SCOTUS says that companies are individuals, so they are free to support who they want within the confines of the law. I´m fine with that.

Publix, a Florida based grocer, is supporting a Republican candidate who has served in several capacities (including Ag Commissioner of Florida) over the past few decades and who is also central Florida born and raised. I see nothing untoward here.

And I will happily keep shopping at Publix where the customer is truly treated well, the stores are spotless, the quality of product is peerless, and the employees friendly, thoughtful and well paid.

Lived in Fla for many years, shopped at Publix a lot, was always happy with the stores. I didn´t know that their HQ was in Lakeland, definitely small town America.

Need more info, hope he will be a good governor, sounds OK so far. given the extreme leftist bias of TBT, wouldn´t expect a glowing report from them on any Republican.
It wouldn´t be real hard to improve on Scott, frankly. Not much of a Scott fan, not horrible, but not anywhere near what he could have been.

It’s 2018. One of the world’s most powerful married men had a 22-year-old intern perform oral sex on him in his office. He’s been accused of sexual assault by three other women. One claims, as is the case with so many of the men who have fallen from positions of power as a result, that he exposed himself to her (which always makes me, at least, pause and wonder why on earth so many men seem to want to do this). We know, too, that he lied about his tryst with the intern. So why is Bill Clinton still presiding over glamorous parties? Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.
