S. Korea, threatens to nix U.S. summit

Seoul - North Korea said Wednesday it is canceling high-level talks with South Korea and threatened to pull out of a summit with the United States over the allies´ ongoing military exercises. The North´s Korean Central News Agency said the Max Thunder drills between the South Korean and U.S. air forces are a rehearsal for invasion of the North and a provocation amid warming inter-Korean ties. It also called into question whether next month´s summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump can go ahead as planned. "This exercise targeting us, which is being carried out across

The negotiations between President Trump and Kim Jong-un are akin to a high stakes poker game. President Trump holds one card that Kim can´t fight against. That is, we control the devastating sanctions against his country, which will not be lifted till "all" previously stated results, such as the decentralization of North Korea are met. Kim has much to win, but more to lose if he continues to bluff his people into oblivion.

Kim probably thought all this talk of reconciliation and talks would loosen the political resolve of our president and cause him to soften his demands....wrong! This would have worked for the spineless obama and by now he would be sending planeloads of cash to NK.

Give Trump credit for not claiming victory before it happens. There has been way too much talk of a Nobel prize, the dance of joy over bringing KJU to his knees. He may back out, he may never have been serious, but given what to expect of any sole ruler, it is entirely possible the deal could be squelched by painting a picture of capitulation. There are times to shut the hell up.

#20, I agree. China is playing both sides of the street. Never forget they are our enemy and their desire is to best us in every aspect. If they can make the President lose face, they will. If, however, they see he is going to be successful, they want in on the glory. Patience, grasshopper. The President is more than aware of their cunning. He’s no novice and knows he is sitting in the catbird seat.

Iran has a part in this as well. Iran has been an ally in terror for North Korea and they have been sharing nuke technology. With the hatred of Bolton and mentions of Libya, again that indicates Iran. Once North Korea changes their tune, Iran is further isolated, something they will work to avoid.

Bringing President Trump’s aide John Bolton up is nothing but a diversion by the North Koreans, as Trump aides don’t make final negotiating positions in the Trump Administration. The North Koreans probably came to the conclusion that they are not going to be able to bluff Trump as they did Bush and Obama. Remember what happened in Libya was just another Obama-Hillary Clinton foreign policy fiasco that sent that country back into the dark ages.

I believe #20 is correct. There are several pieces in play here.

The Chinese want to try to get something out of the trade negotiations with the President´s team.

Having traveled there recently, obvious to me that the Chinese economy is a house of cards at best within a restless population. But, they hold some cards too, such as willingness to keep buying US Treasuries to help keep the US government afloat.

Chinese Pres. Xi Jinping wants to keep NK under his wing not the USA´s. So Kimmie tells the USA what Xi want him to say. Kimmie is a useful idiot at this stage, but, doesn´t know it yet.

As directed by Xi, Kimmie foolishly wants to understand President Trump´s red lines. Careful what you wish for, Kimmie. Kimmie now sees Iran in the mix and wants to see where Trump goes with this now that the USA is out of the nuke "deal". Again, careful what you wish for, Kimmie.

Kimmie, when is Xi expecting you to report back to him on progress with Trump?

Other than Xi/Kimmie stirring the pot, nothing else to see here. Kimmie´s meeting-canceling antics is just theater.

Nothing to be concerned about. During the 1950´s Peace Talks in Korea, the parties wrangled over the size and shape of the table for eons. Later all the Ivy League "universities" gave classes on debating about shapes of tables for future "peace talk" negotiators.

As noted earlier, this is an annual ploy of the NK resident Kim, However, there may be opportunity here.

President could play the game and agree - show of statesmenship, etc. while still retaining the card at anytime Kim faltered.

President could ignore the challenge as in the past and call the Kim bluff with threat of more sanctions if talks not held.

President could invite Kim´s forces to join (or Kim to observe) the exercise.

President could decide that Kim´s threat is actually a Chinese play card in the game and call the Chinese President to knock it off or face other economic consequences.

Or the President could ask how would Hillary or Kerry handle this and fork over billions of dollars in bribe money.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. I guess that´s why PDJT gets paid the big bucks. Oh, wait ....

Beating your wife is worse than protesting during the national anthem. So, too, is sexually assaulting a woman. While that might seem obvious, it needs to be clarified given The Associated Press´ report Thursday that the Miami Dolphins are now including protesting during the anthem on their list of "conduct detrimental to the club." Under NFL rules, that´s an offense punishable by a suspension of up to four games. The Dolphins later told the AP that "all options are still open." But to give you an idea of how heinous at least one NFL team sees trying to draw attention to racial and economic inequality, a four-game suspension is

Washington, DC - President Donald Trump repeatedly promised during his campaign to nominate Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade. The US administration of President Donald Trump on Thursday proposed sweeping changes to the 45-year-old Endangered Species Act which would roll back protections for threatened animals, sparking alarm by environmentalists. The 1973 federal law is considered the gold standard for global environmental protection, and is credited with saving dozens of key species from extinction, including bald eagles, manatees, humpback whales and American alligators. One proposed change, announced by the Interior and Commerce Departments, would remove a sentence that aims to separate economic impacts from decisions about animal protection. Most House Democrats voted “present” Tuesday on a resolution aimed at forcing them to clarify whether they support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, after some Democrats have criticized the agency´s role in enforcing U.S. immigration laws. Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election wasn’t as one-sided as Special Counsel Robert Mueller charges in his latest indictment. The Russian military spy agency that Mueller says hacked the Democratic National Committee also penetrated the computer systems of the Republican National Committee using fake emails in a phishing scheme, U.S. officials say. This evidence challenges the narrative, now reinforced by Mueller’s indictments, that Russia’s scheme was solely aimed at damaging Hillary Clinton. “RNC emails were stolen through the same spearphishing scams used against Democrats,” a senior U.S. intelligence official familiar with the investigation told RealClearInvestigations.

In a lengthy statement issued late Wednesday, Waters, D-Calif., said she’d been notified about forthcoming protests by the Oath Keepers, which she described as "an anti-government militia" that´s staged armed protests in cities across the country. She warned her supporters against being "baited" into counter-demonstrations or confrontations with the organization, which she said has a track record of "violent and provocative behavior." A White House stenographer says she resigned over the Trump administration´s lack of respect for her office after President Trump reduced the roles of the White House position. Beck Dorey-Stein, who worked as a stenographer for the White House during the second half of the Obama administration, told CNN´s New Day on Wednesday that Trump´s refusal to allow stenographers in the room for meetings and interviews with some journalists crossed a line. "I quit because I couldn´t be proud of where I worked anymore," Dorey-Stein said. "I felt like President Trump was lying to the American people, and also ... not even

Email Scandal: Last week we learned that a "foreign entity" may have been secretly receiving Hillary Clinton´s emails while she was Secretary of State, including many that contained classified information. And that the FBI apparently ignored this information during its "investigation." The reaction by the press to this bombshell? Crickets. At one point during Peter Strzok´s congressional testimony last week, Rep. Louie Gohmert made a stunning claim: FBI investigators were told that Clinton´s emails had been surreptitiously forwarded to a "foreign entity." And the FBI investigators who were allegedly conducting a thorough, unbiased, professional probe into Clinton´s

House Democrats are now pivoting away from their “Better Deal” slogan, according to Politico. In a private meeting Wednesday, House Democrats announced that they will be employing the new slogan “For the People” in the 2018 midterm elections. “We have 110 days from right now until Election Day and we will be spending the month of August in our home districts and we wanted to make sure we are singing from the same song sheet on the three top issues,” Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL), co-chair of House Democrats’ messaging arm, told Politico. The new slogan will accompany a focus on

A video has emerged showing Melania Trump apparently looking horrified after shaking Vladimir Putin´s hand during her husband´s summit with the Russian president. Putin can be seen smiling and nodding in the clip as he is introduced to Melania by President Trump in Helsinki, Finland on Monday. Melania, who is a few inches taller than the ex-spy strongman, also smiles during the handshake in an apparently natural way. (Video/Photos) But as soon as Putin releases her hand and diverts his attention elsewhere, Melania pulls a bizarre face representing what appears to be her shock or horror. She widens her eyes
