Breitbart Big Government, by John Binder

Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle company, is set to lay off hundreds of American workers at its Kansas City, Missouri factory while creating jobs in Thailand. After laying off nearly 200 American manufacturing workers last year, as Breitbart News reported, Harley-Davidson is expected to fully close its Kansas City manufacturing facility, leaving 800 workers out of work. Harley-Davidson executives say about 400 jobs will be sent to the corporation’s York, Pennsylvania manufacturing plant, but union workers allege their jobs are being sent overseas to Thailand. In remarks to USA Today, a manufacturing worker who’s been at Harley-Davidson for more than 20 years will

The guys that drove the harley boom were 2 kinds. Wannabee bad asses and old guys that could now afford one. The wanabees can be seen trailering full dressers to Daytona or stergis imagining they are Dennis hopper sleeping under the stars wearing the same clothes for a month. The old guys are now older and just can´t handle the bike or are driving a walker. In both cases wives are asking why they are making payments on something that sits in the garage. After riding my triumph for 40 years I realized insane traffic and the realization that a wreck could put me in a cast for 6 months took the fun out if it. I sold it and ride safe and dry in myself f150.

It could be that by producing product in Thailand they can avoid tariffs when selling to other pacific rim countries. Not enough information here.

You´re living in the past #5.
The Harley product is excellent.
Try riding any 2018 Harley.
The problem is price.
Overhead, labor, profit...
$32,000 to a young guy is a hella lot of loot.

The average age of a biker years ago was still 20´s and 30´s...with affordable bikes.
Today it´s 47.
The young riders are priced out of the loop.
They can´t afford these great expensive bikes.
So they´re not buying.
Who has 30k to throw at a motorcycle?

I did a behind the scenes "steel toe" tour of the factory in Kansas City and was very impressed by the technology and forward thinking of the H-D team there and what the new designs of the bikes were taking.

They were working on new engines, and a model called the "Street" which was reasonable in price for the younger market.

A great many of the people who buy Harleys ARE older and it does require a big investment to get one of the bigger touring bikes and Trikes. That is a given, but oh, they are so much fun to ride!

The youth often want "crotch rockets" which are very dangerous when ridden carelessly.

It has gotten to be an expensive luxury as prices have increased, but with the improvements made over the last couple of years, it is worth checking them out!

Outsourcing may be the only way to get the price of the bikes down below that $30,000 price mark for the best ones built in York PA

Yet another chapter in U.S. foreign policy’s history of ignorant, bloody, expensive, futile, counterproductive attempts to reshape foreign societies ended with Muqtada al-Sadr’s decisive victory in last week’s Iraqi elections. He won despite the U.S government’s all-out support for puppet Prime Minister Haider al Abadi (who came in last), and after a decade and a half of U.S. occupation and war. Its most intense part, “the surge,” was directed largely against Sadr. Brian Kemp isn’t a political candidate to mince words. Some call him crazy. Others say he’s rude. Yet there is also a growing number of Georgia voters thinking he should be that state’s next governor. Call it the “Trump Effect” or simply Americans tired of being attacked for believing in common-sense values of smaller government, a strong military, and protected borders, but candidates like Kemp are shaking up the status-quo and that’s likely a good thing. It’s certainly interesting. As of yesterday, Mr. Kemp is now in second place and climbing among all Georgia GOP governor candidates. (Video)
