Seattle City Council approves lower,

SEATTLE – The Seattle City Council on Monday approved a controversial but compromise head tax on large businesses to pay for programs for the homeless. The tax would raise about $48 million a year – less than the original proposal of $75 million but more than the $40 million that Mayor Jenny Durkan had proposed. Durkan says she will sign the bill. Amazon, downtown´s economic giant, immediately blasted the proposal and what it said was a hostile approach to larger businesses that "forces us to question our growth here." The tax passed in an 8-1 vote on an amendment, but several

I never need to go back. Same with San Francisco, Portland, and Los Angeles.

If one wants more homeless, ehn pay for homeless to get more. If one wants less jobs, then make jobs too unaffordable. Seattle just killed its future by investing in less jobs and more hmeless. But it is the brain death liberal solution to any issue. Kill jobs and give away more money to bums.

If the Seattle City Council had even the minimum level of smart thinking re the homeless hordes, they should start by focusing on mental health care. There are no longer any mental health beds other than those at Western State available in the state. When existing facilities were closed in past decades all the mental health patients found themselves out on the street, where, left to fend for themselves, they became the perfect fuel for abuse by drug peddlers, and others of uncharitable natures. All this ill advised tent-city pussy-footing by do-gooders has caused burgeoning of the homeless to its present unmanageable proportions. As for the remainder of the homeless who are not mentally sick, and have been forced to abandon their homes for the streets, positive jobs policies need to be pursued statewide. It is past time for the Councils of the state to start supporting the people whose taxes support them, instead of making life even harder and more depressing for the working man.

Early in her address to graduating Yale students at Sunday´s Class Day, Hillary Clinton reached behind the lectern, pulled out a traditional Russian ushanka hat, and held it aloft. As California hurtles toward its state primary June 5, it is obvious there´s a problem. Its open primary system — which sends the top two vote-getters to the general election, regardless of party affiliation — is not working as intended and risks throwing the midterm election into acrimony and confusion. This system is called a "jungle primary" for a reason: It is brutal and unpredictable. In three high-profile House races, there are so many candidates from the two major parties eating into one another´s support that the election results may end up owing more to chance than any discernible will
