California Bill Would Criminalize
Speech, Books Opposing LGBT Agenda

New American, by Michael Tennant

In a direct assault on the freedoms of speech and religion, the California Assembly on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a bill that would, in effect, prohibit the dissemination of traditional Christian teaching on homosexuality and transgenderism. The Assembly voted 50-14 to criminalize “a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” that consists of “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.” The bill defines “sexual orientation change efforts” as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. You couldn´t even make this up. This something you would read in a horrifying book of fiction. The policies the insane leftsts are pushing are absolutely terrifying. The rights of others don´t even matter. I just don´t even know what to say anymore it´s so frightening.

This is what you get when Democrats have full control: a dictatorial government where individual freedoms are reduced or eliminated.

So LGBTQXYZers can no longer seek to change an individuals sexual orientation. No more gay classes in schools, no more attacking Christians, trying to make them see the ´gay´ way? I read it that way, but of course, it´s like ´racism´, it only goes one way!

FTA:

The bill still has to be passed by the state Senate and signed by Governor Jerry Brown to become law. After that, it will almost certainly be challenged in court, where many observers believe it would be struck down as unconstitutional. Whether that turns out to be the case or not, the fact that the bill has gotten this far demonstrates that the militant LGBT crowd and its allies will stop at nothing to silence dissenters.

The operative word is “would”. This one won’t make it past even Jerry Brown.

BTW, California Republicans are delighted to see this extreme stuff going on and, if anything, ramping up. There are far too many who are not registered Republicans (who are 5 million at last count) who disagree with this sort of thing. This kind of wacko overreach just swings the pendulum more and more away from the progressives. A good thing.

Thought control pure and simple.

And if gender and sexuality are fluid then how can there be orientation ie anchoring ie an unchanging state of being? The leftists contradict themselves with no help needed.

Question for the LGBT crowd: most of you are atheists. Most of you believe in evolution and natural selection. How, then, did species multiply across generations and how did they evolve if homosexuality is normal, natural, etc.?

Whether you fit into one of the sub-categories of LGBT or not, criminalizing speech is NOT a good thing. In fact it is rotten!

I may completely and utterly disagree with what someone is saying or writing. But if the powers that be shut down that person´s speech, what guarantees my speech won´t be shut down too?

Shutting down speech that is outside the mainstream can lead to the continued belief in something that is false -- like the earth is flat and not round, like the sun revolves around the earth, etc.

Why can´t people be free to disagree agreeably? Because the LEFT wants to control. And when you have control, you have the power of life and death. THAT is what the LEFT wants. They want to be able to kill you when you no longer serve their purpose.

The bill defines “sexual orientation change efforts” as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.”

But apparently no mention of the practices that do the opposite, encouraging the exploration of attractions or feelings toward those of the same sex, ostensibly in the name of "open-mindedness".

If they bill´s authors had used their favored "gender" instead of "sex" the proposal would have been too ´fluid´ to stick to anything real. (Which is likely the very reason the term is favored by them -- it´s too vague and subjective to oppose or disprove.

Lastly, I suggest #14 uses 1st person plural for many statements that are implausible beyond the 1st person singular.

Dr. Robert A. J. Gagnon (a former professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary) cuts to the chase by considering the possibility of the teachings and/or sale of Bibles being “criminalized” by passage of the proposed legislation: “To sell any materials or offer any counseling for a fee that present homosexual practice and transgender identity as wrong or a sin, including all commentaries on the Bible and theological or exegetical treatments that affirm the biblical position on these matters (perhaps even the Bible itself) is to incur criminal sanctions in the state of California….”

Last week, several news outlets obtained financial records showing that Michael Cohen, President Trump’s personal attorney, had used a shell company to receive payments from various firms with business before the Trump Administration. In the days since, there has been much speculation about who leaked the confidential documents, and the Treasury Department’s inspector general has launched a probe to find the source. That source, a law-enforcement official, is speaking publicly for the first time, to The New Yorker, to explain the motivation: the official had grown alarmed after being unable to find two important reports on Cohen’s financial activity in

Just how lazy is the Senate? If you need just one metric to measure this, consider the following: The Senate has had just one amendment vote this entire year. Many outside observers chalk the Senate’s glacial pace and lack of debate up to polarization and gridlock. But a closer observation reveals that gridlock has little to do with it. Rather, laziness does. I’ve spent the better part of the last year writing about ways in which the Republican Senate wastes time: working 2.5 days a week, engaging in endless quorum calls, and allowing the Democrats to run roughshod over the
