Allison Mack of ´Smallville´ gets $5M
bail, home confinement in sex-cult case

USA Today, by Jon Campbell

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 4/24/2018 4:38:37 PM

Albany - Smallville actress Allison Mack will be released on a $5 million bond and confined to a California home as she awaits trial on felony charges for her involvement in an alleged Albany-area sex cult. U.S. Magistrate Judge Viktor Pohorelsky set Mack´s bail at $5 million bond during a hearing Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court after the 35-year-old actress spent the weekend in jail, according to the U.S. Attorney´s Office for New York´s Eastern District. But Mack won't be freed entirely: Mack was ordered to home detention with electronic monitoring in central California after prosecutors made the case the actress was a risk to flee

Comments:
The prosecution must really want to make their bones with this high profile case. It doesn´t hurt that it´s also as elections are coming up to make oneself know for future political aspirations. Now, that makes this a "True Hollywood Story".

It´s not enough. If half of what I´ve read is true, she is a despicable human being.

I hope she lives however, to testify. People in high places may not like that though.

Thousands of eager fans flocked to Windsor Castle this morning to witness the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In fact, so many people lined the road to catch a glimpse of the newly married couple that famed British author J.K. Rowling decided to compare the royal wedding attendance to that of America´s 2017 presidential inauguration. On Saturday morning, during the highly-anticipated wedding of the year, the "Harry Potter" author tweeted out a picture of the Windsor wedding crowd and placed it beside a photo of the crowd at Donald Trump´s inauguration in Washington, D.C. Of Crowns and Rings: Images
of Royal Weddings Over a Century
New York Times, by Staff    Original Article

The images of royal weddings are some of the most glamorous in our history books. But the events also have a real sticking power, be it in the memories of those who watched a day unfold or as an opulent footnote to an otherwise dreary history lesson. (Snip) There is one unifying factor: In each case, excited crowds watch two people whose personalities have been deliberately obscured, hidden behind a veil of pomp and propriety. What is it about these fairy tale occasions, filled with pageantry and splendor, that so captures the modern imagination? Perhaps it’s those very ingredients. Here are some images of royal weddings

There are all kind of possibilities, we can ... start the 20 enrichment," Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters.

Octopuses are aliens. That’s the claim being made by a team of 33 researchers published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. They are not referring to aliens in a metaphorical sense, but literal aliens from outer space. Since the paper was released on Sunday, a trickle of news coverage has turned into a torrent, with increasingly alarming headlines about octopuses and their extra-terrestrial origins. It will not come as a surprise to many to learn that these claims have been roundly mocked by the scientific community, who have branded the paper – published in Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology – as ridiculous and unscientific.

House conservatives killed a farm subsidy bill that would have imposed work requirements on food stamp recipients because they didn’t get their way on tough immigration reform. The House Freedom Caucus’ fit of pique was a huge embarrassment to House Speaker Paul Ryan and a bitter pill for other GOP lawmakers who hail from agricultural states. The 213-198 vote killed the work and job training requirements, which were popular with President Trump’s base. But it also delayed farm subsidies, pork barrel cash that Republican lawmakers crave. Ryan took steps to call for a revote in the future but it’s not clear when the measure

He explained away the possibility of an FBI informant spying on the campaign as the bureau was trying to find out “what the Russians were doing to try to substantiate themselves in the campaign or influence or leverage it.” Obama’s Director of National Intelligence then went on to say, “So,

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.

WASHINGTON — President Trump accused the F.B.I. on Friday, without evidence, of sending a spy to secretly infiltrate his 2016 campaign “for political purposes” even before the bureau had any inkling of the “phony Russia hoax.” In fact, F.B.I. agents sent an informant to talk to two campaign advisers only after they received evidence that the pair had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign. The informant, an American academic who teaches in Britain, made contact late that summer with one campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, according to people familiar with the matter.
