GQ Magazine Lists the Bible in the Top 21

Fellow Townhall contributor Micah Rate pointed out an interesting opinion from the GQ Magazine editorial board that slipped by many. Apparently, the magazine believes that the Bible, yes the Christian Bible, is one of the most overrated books of all time. In an article titled 21 Books You Don’t Have to Read, the fashion magazine says that the Bible is the number 12 most overrated book of all time. From GQ: “The Holy Bible is rated very highly by all the people who supposedly live by it but who in actuality have not read it. Those who have read it know there are

If whoever wrote the editorial had said this about the Koran, be assured that his house would have been burned to the ground and he and his family killed going back at least two generations, then GQ itself would either be sued into oblivion or targeted by suicide bombers. I guess he figured The Bible was safe to attack.

I think GQ will have to explain why the Bible is the best selling book of all time. It was never meant to be a literary product. It was meant to explain who God is, what He does, how we should live and how He runs His creation and His creatures. The Bible was not “written by men.” It was penned by men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Someone should take GQ behind the shed for a willful ignorance whuppin´.

A few quotations about the Bible.

Ronald Reagan said, ´´I never had any doubt about it being of divine origin. . . point out to me any similar collection of writings that has lasted for as many thousands of years and is still a best-seller, world-wide. It had to be of divine origin.´´

Corrie Ten Boom: ´´Voltaire expected that within fifty years of his lifetime there would not be one Bible in the world. His house is now a distribution center for Bibles in many languages.´´

´´The Bible is alive, it speaks to me; it has feet, it runs after me; it has hands, it lays hold of me. The Bible is not antique or modern. It is eternal.´´ --Martin Luther

´´The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and centre of their hearts.´´ --A. W. Tozer

Of all known and imagined consequences of climate change, many people fear sea-level rise most. But efforts to determine what causes seas to rise are marred by poor data and disagreements about methodology. The noted oceanographer Walter Munk referred to sea-level rise as an “enigma”; it has also been called a riddle and a puzzle. It is generally thought that sea-level rise accelerates mainly by thermal expansion of sea water, the so-called steric component. But by studying a very short time interval, it is possible to sidestep most of the complications, like “isostatic adjustment” of the shoreline (as continents rise after

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters.
