Giuliani says he is joining
Trump’s legal team to ‘negotiate
an end’ to Mueller probe

Washington Post, by Robert Costa & Josh Dawsey

Original Article

Former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, a combative former prosecutor and longtime ally of President Trump, told The Washington Post on Thursday that he has joined the president’s legal team dealing with the ongoing special counsel probe. “I’m doing it because I hope we can negotiate an end to this for the good of the country and because I have high regard for the president and for Bob Mueller,” Giuliani said in an interview. Giuliani, who joins a legal team that has struggled to recruit new members to its ranks, said he has been speaking with Trump for weeks

Comments:
It is confirmed. Excellent! I wish Giuliani or DiGenova had been appointed as AG. Those two would have sure cleaned up that mess. This is great news. It´s obvious Giuliani has a huge amount of experience related to the law and politics. I sure hope he doesn´t recommend sitting down with Mueller. That is the last thing he should do voluntarily. Force Mueller go through every court to accomplish that. Giuliani would not answer for this article what he would recommend.

This is a brilliant move. Giuliani is smart, shrewd, and intimately knows not just national politics but very importantly also New York´s politics and judicial/legal system. Mueller´s gambit to shift part of the investigation over to SDNY is intended to both complicate and intimidate the countermoves that the Trump legal team could make. This is a great countermove.

And I agree that once this contrived investigation has been disbanded, Giuliani would be and should be a great candidate to replace the woefully inept Sessions.

Lastly, I want to comment on something that needs to be said about President Trump. Contrary to the incessant assertions that he is unqualified, unethical, and unsuited to be President, he instead has shown himself to be cool under fire, rational and measured in his actions, and respectful of the roles of other branches of government and the Constitution. Other than his addiction to twitter, he is proving to be an excellent, focused, and highly effective Chief Executive.

The dogs bark...and MAGA moves on.

What does Giuliani have to negotiate with? Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs posted on Twitter that Giuliani said in - an interview with Margaret Talev, another Bloomberg reporter and CNN analyst - “I have great respect for Bob and my job is going to be to try to get him what he needs to wrap it up.”

Doesn´t sound much like negotiation to me.

#17 asks a great question. For someone so experienced, Rudy seems very late to the party. Mueller may not appreciate the suggestion that his timeline is negotiable. Whatever Giuliani intends to discuss should be held close to the vest, lest he be ridiculed if shown to be non-productive. Right not, he looks like window dressing. Hope I´m wrong.

Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,
