Freeze-drying dead bodies
could be the future of cremation

The Sun [UK], by Saqib Shah

A controversial burial method that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and disintegrate a dead body is being heralded as the future of cremation by its creator. Dubbed “promession,” the process takes place in a custom-built machine – just slot your dead relative’s corpse into the device, and watch as it removes their coffin, freeze-dries the water out of them, and shakes whatever’s left into dust. This powder is then popped in a biodegradable bag (the size of a pack of potatoes) and buried in a shallow grave, and any leftover metals (like tooth fillings) are given back to the family. As BBC Earth Lab notes, liquid nitrogen can cryogenically

Comments:
Upon reading the headline, I was thinking that we were possibly to become a "food" source for future generations when we destroy our ability to farm. That is, after "Soylent Green" fails to fertilize the open fields. The Sun [UK] is a little behind because the Daily Mail [UK] reported this back in 2006 proving that even the story could be "recycled". Wonder why there are no late night ads on radio or TV about "promession"?

I like this plan. Cryogenics is the wave of the future. Instant dust from dust. It is not the body but how we lived with it and how we are remembered that counts.

Will it be like Folger’s Crystals? Just add water and Uncle Harry can be back for Thanksgiving?

Seems a bit creepy to me. I like the idea of cremation. Put the ashes in an urn and either keep it on the mantle or bury it proper like.

Cremation has the advantage of neutralizing any biological material, bacteria and viruses completely. Uncle Harry may have departed but we don´t need any toxic powder around.

The White House on Monday called the deaths of more than 50 Palestinians on the Gaza border “propaganda” by Hamas and denied that Israel was to blame. Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said during a White House press briefing that the violence against Palestinian protesters was a “gruesome and unfortunate propaganda attempt” by Hamas. “The responsibility for these tragic deaths rests squarely with Hamas,” Shah said. “Look, this is a propaganda attempt. I mean, this is a gruesome and unfortunate propaganda attempt.” Shah also said about the deaths that “Israel has the right to defend itself.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller has withstood relentless political attacks, many distorting his record of distinguished government service. But there’s one episode even Mueller’s former law enforcement comrades — and independent ethicists — acknowledge raises legitimate legal issues and a possible conflict of interest in his overseeing the Russia election probe. In 2009, when Mueller ran the FBI, the bureau asked Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska to spend millions of his own dollars funding an FBI-supervised operation to rescue a retired FBI agent, Robert Levinson, captured in Iran while working for the CIA in 2007.

Martin Luther King Jr. once said there is nothing in the world more dangerous than sincere ignorance. Well, sincere ignorance had a banner day last week when President Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal. A CNN/ORC poll taken shortly before Trump’s decision found that a majority of Americans — 63 percent — wanted the U.S. to stay in the deal. But get this: 62 percent of Americans believed Iran had violated its terms. To me, the second result is the more alarming.
