Denver proposes raising marijuana tax as

DENVER – The City of Denver wants to double the amount of money it spends on affordable housing every year and part of that plan involves raising taxes on marijuana sales. The city announced on Monday a new partnership with the Denver Housing Authority that would involve boosting Denver’s affordable housing fund to $30 million annually and issuing more than $100 million in bonds to support more affordable housing over the next five years. “We can all agree – more resources are key to addressing this challenge,” Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said. “The Housing Authority has been a trusted partner

I thought pot as legal for those with illnesses. So now Denver is going to finance housing by making chronic pain patients, terminally ill and others with horrible illness pay for other people´s housing. that is just cruel.

Here´s a clue. Here in Mexifornia, they had been raising taxes on marijuana and found that (shocker!) the underworld types who have moved in didn´t like to pay the government crooks and ever larger share of their income, so they went back to illegal selling. Now the government crooks are dropping their teaxes because they can´t hang with the competition. I can´t wait until both the drug gangs and the government crook gangs start shooting one another in the streets or on the beaches. Poetic justice.

Legal marijuana is expensive. Now the liberals want to tack on a big tax increase. An expected outcome is this will cause more people to buy dope on the black market which is already flourishing. Experience says, revenues from this tax will fall way short of projections. Liberals defy logic as usual.

Pot costs less than $15 a pound to grow in a greenhouse, that is high quality pot. The Israelis petitioned to be able to sell pot to states where it is legal, the wholesale price for top grade stuff was to be just under $14 a pound, including shipping costs.
Legalization is driving prices and profits down, but it is bringing costs down for smugglers and the cartels as the criminal risks are near zero.

The cartels have less overhead, and more addicts. They win, you lose.

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

NEW YORK — Starbucks is going strawless. The coffee company announced Monday that it will phase out plastic straws from all of its stores by 2020. The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from.
