10-year-old girl urges
others to stop bullying in
heartbreaking viral video

A 10-year-old girl is urging people to stop bullying one another by sharing her own heartbreaking story in a video that’s now gone viral. Cassidy Slater, a fourth-grader at John Adams Elementary School in Scranton, Pa., shared the video on Facebook. In it, she’s holding up signs that tell the story of how she’s been bullied since first grade.“One day during recess, a group of kids grabbed my purse off a teacher, and spit on it and me,” one of her signs reads. She goes on to explain that kids have hit and kicked her, pulled her hair and won’t

Comments:
The video on Facebook states that it was the school district that reported her to Facebook for having an underage account and Facebook closed her account. Her Mom then reposted it. I believe that story because one of her cards states the Principal won´t do anything about it.

Do these kids think they´re experiencing something that has never existed in the human race? What a bunch of self-entitled little ones we have, no doubt because their parents are little punks who can´t train up a child.

There have always been bullies and they sense when one is a victim.

Teaching a child to stand up for himself is a better idea than teaching him to whine on facebook video.

Next question: How is it that this bullying has been going on since she was in first grade and her father (who has a different surname) had to see her video to find out about it?

Kids who bully are seeing their parents bully others. They learn it at home. Just look at the garbage they are watching, the shows they are watching. Look at how the last administration went out of its way to bully conservative groups by using the IRS on them, that is bullying. It should be brought out into the open and the bullies exposed.

Bullying has existed forever, but the Internet has taken it to a different level.

Thank God there was no Internet when I was growing up.

This has been going on for decades, but the laws protecting the rights of those that bully supersede those of the bullied. Bigotry and disrespect that leads to bullying is learned at home, yet the legal system is geared toward the rehabilitation of youth and unless the parents stop it, it continues. The youth of today are aware of their advantage and aren´t inclined to respect authority.

Cassidy´s parents need to do everything possible to get her out of that environment, even if it means sending her to a private school or sending her to live with a relative in another school district to get her out of the school she is in.

I was bullied mercilessly from 4th grade until the day I graduated from high school. There was no relief, even during the summer months, since most of my tormentors lived in my neighborhood. I finally stopped telling my parents what was happening since any advice they gave me did nothing to stop the abuse. So there are some pretty nasty incidents even my sister doesn´t know about.

Meanwhile, it has affected me as an adult in my social and working life and I don´t know how to correct it. I have no idea how to interact socially and find trusting anyone outside of my family almost impossible. There have been a scant few exceptions in my life, but they are rare at best.

Cassidy should be spending this time in her young life laughing with friends, playing girlish games, learning to socialize with others and dreaming of her future, NOT dreading school and the bullies who make her life a living he´ll. She has stated her case and made her plea. It is up to her parents to do their jobs and protect her BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE.

I was bullied in elementary school until one day I hauled off and slapped the crap out of the nearest bully. They hated my guts after that and talked about how "mean" I was, but left me alone. Mission accomplished.

Both Wife and I, both of us "tech nerds" were horribly bullied in our schools (different districts nearly an hour´s drive apart) through most of our years. With the tacit approval (or at least carefully ignoring the matter) of teachers and, particularly, the administrations. After all, the worst offenders were either the "star athletes" or were the sons and daughters of the prominent citizens in the towns. These days, the "protected classes" also include the beneficiaries of affirmative action and Obama-era hands-off policies.
The victims, then and now, dare not raise their hand in self defense, nor even complain to the "appropriate authorities", lest one get hit harder AND be castigated as racist or the like.
Oh, and it was revealed to me well after the fact that my daughters were also so treated.
I desperately wish that we had home-schooled ours.
This garbage has been going on for a LONG time, and school admins are deeply complicit.

Nice intentions, no doubt. But, really? I am sure that there have been hundreds of thousands of well meaning folks who tell bullies to cut it out.

Never works, waste of breath.

A good right fist to the nose, applied repeatedly with the occasional left fist for distraction has worked well for me several times. Never bothered me again, and any other bullies took the hint. Bully problem entirely eliminated by the ONLY thing that actually works. Direct application of significant pain.

Asst. Principal´s big thick paddle also worked well.

I am glad this little girl went online with her problem. Exposure is a great problem solver. #7, and all others who were bullied, you know the terrible effects. And "standing up" isn´t always possible. As she said, there are 4 of them and only 1 of her. My daughters were picked on at various times. Luckily, only for limited periods but they were hellish while they lasted. I can assure you that a strong child can be beaten down. No answers, just hoping that teachers try to stop it as best they can.

The adored college football coach had a daughter in the same class as my daughter, let´s call her "Jennifer" for want of a name. She and her clique of elite friends in elementary school were merciless in their bullying, even when I had to take my daughter to school on crutches after a surgery.

I was heartbroken to see my little girl coming home after school each day. So while she was on crutches I got an appointment with the principal and the school counselor. I informed them what was happening. They were so nice to me and assured me I was completely mistaken. I told them they were well aware what was happening to my daughter (a stunningly beautiful girl by the way) and a couple of other girls in the class. Again I was assured this was totally a mistake. I calmly explained that as the daughter of the probably best and most popular college football coach in the country (I think his last name began with a "J" but I could be wrong) put the school in an awkward situation, and I didn´t give a damn. I needed to see positive changes taking place within a week or I would go to the newspapers, television stations, school board and anyone else who would listen. Amazingly the clique, with all its power, was split up between classes and the bullying stopped. I am certain all teachers were warned.

This little girl, Cassidy, is the exact same age as my daughter. I wish there was a way of contacting her to offer her our moral support. What she is going through is horrendous.

These little snowflakes need to learn how to defend themselves against bullies, ie punch them over and over again until they stop, then slam the bully´s head into the sidewalk a few more times so they´ll remember it.

I agree with above posters, adolescent girls can be the cruelest little creatures out there, especially in a group. I still remember in vivid detail a few incidents with a bully from elementary school— and I was no shrinking violet as a child. There are snowflakes and then there are children who are tormented into hating school and themselves by cruel kids. Telling them to just go punch someone will only escalate it. (And these days would result in their being kicked out of school or criminally charged... reason regarding self defense is dead in this country.) Standing up for yourself doesn’t come naturally to many people, especially children who are being severely bullied by young sociopaths.

I cant believe all the people on this forum denigrating people that are bullied. My older sister had polio as a child and her classmates would circle around her and taunt and tease her. What would you have her do being so out numbered by the bullies. And remember that all these mass shootings at schools have been committed by people that were bullied in school.

Bullying has increased since the Internet became popular. People, including adults, just say out loud whatever runs thru their pea brains. It was up to parents, teachers, and the schools to shut it down long ago.

Since I moved to this area, I am truly amazed at the rude things adults say to strangers. For the past year or so, one senior has made my live miserable. I feel like the only person that will not tolerate their hatefulness, while others let them get away with it because they don´t want to confront them.

As Dr. Phil is known to say "How´s that working for you ?" To many bullies-very well.

The amount is too small to make a nuclear bomb, agency spokesman Victor Dricks said, but could be used to make a dirty bomb to spread radioactive contamination.
