The Invisible Victims of Gun Control

She’d always “felt safe in her neighborhood,” said an unnamed young woman in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. That is, until around midnight of October 25, 2008, when she heard a crash in her basement. A 47-year-old registered sex offender named Ronnie W. Preyer had broken into her home. She “made a beeline to the back door, but Preyer was waiting for her,” writes Bridget DiCosmo of the Southeast Missourian. She fought back, but was punched, “twice, she thinks.” Before leaving, her rapist told her, “Don’t tell anybody, I know where you live.” “I wasn’t going to tell, but the more I thought about

The Enemedia intentionally do not report on cases where guns in the hands of ordinary citizens save lives. This was revealed in John Lott´s book The Bias Against Guns.

http://www.gunlaws.com/JohnLottMediaBias.htm

A modern CDC study has concluded that guns are used in cases of individual self-defense anywhere between 500,000 and 3,000,000 times annually. How many unidentified lives are saved in those instances? Likely many, many more than are taken by murderers with guns. But the media will not report it.

I suspect that many times a victim uses a gun to deter an attack the press isn´t even notified. No blood - no interest.

#1, in becoming a CCW instructor, learned that over 90% of "successful uses of a handgun for self defense" NO shots are fired.

I have been told of several cases by friends. Here´s one. Elderly grandfather, walking the dog in a neighborhood starting to "go bad". Carload of thugs stop and ask for money. When told to go, they commented about "how about we just take it?". A .38 Special revolver pulled from a pocket, not even pointed at them convinced them that they had made a serious error in their victim selection process. They decided to go.

Happens millions of times per year, literally. Nobody knows except the participants and they don´t publicize it much.

FTA:
“Curiously, handguns are less vilified in the gun control debate than the AR-15, despite the fact that the vast majority of gun murders are committed with handguns.”

Let me help with that curiosity. The attack was on handguns for many years. Handgun Control Inc. now the Brady Campaign started in 1974. Handguns became the third rail of politics and more so with the expansion of concealed carry. Then the shift in focus became the dreaded assault rifle, yea that’s the ticket, with the AR-15 and it’s magic bullets at the top of the list. I believe the hype actually affected the choices made by the deranged and has resulted in a self-fulfilling prophesy.

As soon as they are done with saving us from battlefield weapons that have never seen nor ever will see a battlefield, they will use the argument that they only addressed part of 4% of the problem and move on to the 96%, after all that’s only common sense.

Long forgotten will be the genesis of the concealed carry movement. It started with Florida which was faced with an ever growing fear that tourism would dry up because of dead tourists and they had no solutions. As a last resort they gave the constitution a whirl and it worked.

Tesm #3, The modern "shall issue" (objective standards) CCW movement started in Fla in 1988. Very successful there, and swept slowly across the country. Now 41 states have ´shall issue´ or no requirement for a permit.

Fight back against the demonization of modern sporting rifles like the AR-15.

I don´t equate abortion and gun ownership, but people on either side of both issues share a common characteristic. They are rock solid in their belief that their side is right and no amount of logic, no recitation of facts, no constitutional referrals and no Supreme Court decisions will change their position on the subject. With very, very few exceptions their minds are firmly set on their side of the question and they will hold that position until they draw their last breath. No, I´m not suggesting that anti-gunners and pro-abortionists be killed. I´m saying that both issues will out live all of us and probably all of our current and future descendants.

After being offered an opportunity to sing the national anthem before a Nevada minor league baseball game, a woman has decided to turn it down after learning that she can’t bring her gun to the stadium. Alishia Wolcott was picked by the Reno Aces to sing after she submitted an audition tape in March, she told Fox News. But after she and her husband went to the stadium on Saturday to attend a game as spectators, they saw security included metal detector wands, which she claimed was a new measure this year. After the FBI conducted its search of Michael Cohen, Trump´s personal lawyer, the entire press, both Republicans and Democrats, demanded decisive actions by President Trump. Fire Mueller! Fire Rosenstein! Where is Attorney General Sessions?! Everyone called for Trump´s response. But the FBI´s search of Cohen was the response of the Washington swamp to a short television interview with Sessions about two weeks ago, followed by an official letter to the key Republican members of Congress, in which he casually noted that he had appointed a prosecutor to investigate what is known as "Clintonistas." It turns out that the prosecutor, Huber

A judge in Massachusetts on Friday ruled against a lawsuit that questioned the state’s ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, declaring that the weapons were not protected by the Second Amendment. Assault weapons are considered to be military firearms, U.S. District Judge William Young said in his ruling, therefore disqualifying them from being included in a citizen’s right to “bear arms.” Policy makers, rather than the courts, were better suited to decide on the regulation for the weapons, he said. "Other states are equally free to leave them unregulated and available to their law-abiding citizens," Young said in his

In the aftermath of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas, the Justice Department has proposed a new rule reclassifying "bump stocks" as machine guns. President Trump has condemned bump stocks, and even the National Rifle Association has called for "additional regulations" on "devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles." The new rule would require that all existing bump stocks either be turned in or destroyed without compensation. I don´t own any bump stocks. I have no desire to own a bump stock. I think they´re asinine. It´s the sort of device an eighteen-year-old

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was undercut by her interior minister on Friday, when he said in an interview that “Islam does not belong to Germany.” Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, whose Bavarian Christian Social Union is a right-wing coalition ally of Merkel´s Christian Democrats (CDU), made the remarks in an interview with Bild, although he did add that Muslims who live in the country are part of Germany. “Germany is shaped by Christianity. That means not working on Sundays and celebrating religious holidays such as Easter, Pentecost and Christmas," he said. “My message is: Muslims need to live with us, not next to us

In the wake of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, some are calling for teachers, administrators and other adults at schools to carry guns to help prevent mass shootings. A Utah teacher joined Martha MacCallum on "The Story" to explain why she carries a handgun to school every single day. Kasey Hansen revealed that the idea to arm herself in the classroom began with the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children and six adults were killed. "The teachers just huddled their kids in the corner and stood in front of them and hoped for the best. They didn't have any defense for them,

The legalization of marijuana became a hot topic in the past week. First, recreational use of the drug became legal in California at the start of 2018. Next, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced he would allow U.S. attorneys to decide whether to enforce federal laws outlawing the use and sale of pot in states that have legalized the drug. Sessions ended an Obama administration policy that discouraged federal prosecutors from enforcing federal marijuana laws in states that allow the drug’s medical or recreational use. It’s not clear yet what impact the attorney general’s action will have. As a physician, my doctoring knowledge

Washington - Dozens of Democratic U.S. Senators on Wednesday introduced a resolution calling for Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt to resign on allegations of ethics lapses. Those relate to the agency’s purchase of a $43,000 sound booth for his office and spending on travel and security. The resolution was signed by 39 senators in the 100-member Senate, which is controlled by Pruitt’s fellow Republicans. Although Republicans can defeat it, the resolution is symbolically important because it represents the most senators ever to call for a Cabinet member’s ouster in resolution, its sponsors said.

Originally highlighted by the Twitter account New Real Peer Review, Ensor’s journal article explores the field of “ecosexuality,” a term which means the sexual relationship between humans and plants. Advocates in the field argue that the Earth needs to be treated with love. In addition to reducing harmful environmental practices, ecosexuals believe that humans should physically make love to the Earth.
