“Smarmy, Mendacious, Self-Aggrandizing
Claptrap”: The Right Wing Rolls Its

Vanity Fair, by Tina Nguyen

“What strikes me is how little new there is in the book,” Fox News veteran Chris Wallace, one of the network’s few resident Democrats, groused Friday morning. “We get a lot of opinions—very unpleasant opinions of the president by James Comey,” he continued, referring to the former F.B.I. director’s new tell-all, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership. But Wallace was himself taken aback to find Comey, the self-serious Reinhold Niebuhr scholar, so fixated on scoring petty points over Trump’s comparatively diminutive height and hand size. “The other thing that surprises me, frankly,” he added, “is how bitchy the book

Far left Tina weighs in with mini reviews from many sources. She is especially fascinated with those from the right. One - from Chris Buskirk of American Greatness - ended up in her headline. It begins “Smarmy, Mendacious….” Good work, Chris!

Should have tossed a “good work, Chris” to Wallace as well. He may have found the perfect word for Comey’s self-serving tome: “Bitchy”...

Chris Wallace is NOT my favorite interviewer. Probably one of my my least favorite. However I am surprised that he uses such strong language to describe the 6´8" bully and criminal that led the FBI for so many years.

I remember during the Senate hearings Sen Hirono of Hawaii "D" asked Comey if he was asked to pledge loyalty to Trump. Comey replied No and if that was requested he would have come out and let it be known. t , which is odd because now he is claiming Trump ked him to do so.

Don´t know about you, but Vanity Fair is the FIRST place I turn for reasoned, experienced and serious political commentary.

Right after CNN, ABC and the Washington Post. But I´m thinking of moving them to the top of the list.

Especially if they have some hot models in new haute coutier fashion.

The reason the Right is focusing on the "bitchy" comments is that, really, they are the only comments verifiable enough to comment on.

In print, under his name, we can reasonably say these are Comey´s opinions.

The rest of stuff? Eh.

The past 12 hours brought two very big revelations involving former FBI director James B. Comey, President Trump and the Russia investigation, and they must be looked at side by side to fully grasp their collective importance. Comey’s memos of his conversations with Trump have leaked in full. This came after Republicans threatened to subpoena them from Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, leading him to release them to Congress. Comey confirmed to Rachel Maddow that before getting fired, he ordered an internal investigation into whether Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani had been privately tipped off by people in the FBI two weeks

The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump. The complaint, filed in federal district court in Manhattan, alleges that top Trump campaign officials conspired with the Russian government and its military spy agency to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating stolen material found there. “During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found

A fter weeks of snarky headlines about President Trump failing to find an attorney to lead his legal team, the Washington Post has officially confirmed that Rudy Giuliani is being brought on board to manage the president’s legal strategy. Thank God. Trump, who has been looking for a Roy Cohn-alike for a long time, most likely found it in Rudy, whose public and private mercilessness, to say nothing of how highly he’s regarded among law enforcement (possibly including Robert Mueller himself), should do a lot of good in bringing this headache to an end. The source told Fox News the memos were turned over to the House Judiciary, Oversight and Intelligence Committees following threats from Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., to subpoena Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for failing to meet the deadline to submit the documents. In a statement to lawmakers, the Justice Department said it had redacted classified information in the memos, but would provide an unredacted version on Friday. Goodlatte,

It’s amusing to watch the James Comey Self-Aggrandizement Tour stagger along. With every passing day, Comey diminishes himself and solidifies his true legacy: a self-aggrandizing, sanctimonious prig that who somehow thinks he, of all people, has cornered the market on morality. His carefully cultivated act of “The Last Honest Man, Boy Scout for the Ages” schtick is being shown to be just that: an act. Of course, truth be known, this entire image is a work decades in the making, stretching back to the days when Comey was the U.S. attorney in Richmond and hired a local reporter named Mike

In fact, the report fails to adequately address the evidence (including sworn testimony) and documents that prove that Mr. McCabe advised Director Comey repeatedly that he was working with the Wall Street Journal on the stories in question prior to publication,” said Michael Bromwich,

In this same poll, among the general public, Trump’s job approval number sits at 42 percent, a five point jump since January. One key take away from this poll is

Washington - Dozens of Democratic U.S. Senators on Wednesday introduced a resolution calling for Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt to resign on allegations of ethics lapses. Those relate to the agency’s purchase of a $43,000 sound booth for his office and spending on travel and security. The resolution was signed by 39 senators in the 100-member Senate, which is controlled by Pruitt’s fellow Republicans. Although Republicans can defeat it, the resolution is symbolically important because it represents the most senators ever to call for a Cabinet member’s ouster in resolution, its sponsors said.
