If you liberals want to break up your sinking state, fine, but don´t think we´re just going to set four more seats in the Senate and give you more electoral votes.
If what you call "California" wants to remain the State of California, then fine...you keep your two Senators and you lose all of the House seats that went with the rest of the state.
As for North and South California, they are not states, and as such would have no representation in the House or the Senate until they are admitted into the Union after proving that they are worthy of admission and gain the approval of the rest of the Country.
If you think you´re just going to pull a fast one, think again. People aren´t blind.

It seems he forgot about all the other current States that would have to vote to admit the three new Californias to the Union. Now why would they, especially the Republican leaning States, vote to essentially give California six liberal Democrat Senators instead of the two they have today? Chances are, if the new Californias’ had six liberal Democrat Senators, them and all the other Democrat Senators would always be in a position to control the US Senate and to thus create a very liberal Supreme Court that the Republican leaning States don’t want. If that was allowed to happen, Texas would probably leave the Union.

Does being rich mean a reduced brain size. This guy, Tim Draper, is a king size doofus if he thinks the rest of the United States would go along with this stupid idea.
Here´s my idea, reduce the size of the state by one third and give the entire bottom of California to Mexico. Mexico would thank you and change the bear on the flag over to an eagle with a snake.
The upper two thirds would reduce it´s sitting represemtatives by that lost from the south after it is written off. Give all of the state´s debt to Mexico and start with a clean slate. This is too simple I know so leave the ´s...hole´ like it is.

SF and Sacto are NOT part of N. Cal. They are part of Central Cal. SF is a seven hr drive SOUTH of my California home. This will never happen but I just wanted to make it clear that SF is NOT N. Cal. Ok, I feel better now.

I am not happy with this split. The split should be a 30-mile wide strip along the Pacific coast from north of Orange County all the way to Vancouver. Keep San Diego in the US. Kick the left coast out.

Liberals are probably trying to gerrymandering the new state lines to maximize their voting block. Then, if the rest of the country votes against admission, they´ll look for their favorite 9th circuit judges to declare opposition, unconstitutional.

This proposed breakup guarantees two additional democrat senators plus electoral votes. San Francisco being included in Northern California makes it the controlling factor. LA in central California guarantees it´s liberal dominance. San Diego being in Southern California is a crap shoot.
I´ve lived in Los Angeles and Riverside County. I can tell you that if you drive from the Pacific one hour due east, you will have entered an entirely different state.
Every republican in every state has the same problem. State politics are dominated by their liberal cities.

And they almost never have the guts to admit the name of the paradise they live in.
I still remember the naive woman (Texan by her own admission) who said “I’ve never been to California, but I know I wouldn’t like it.”

Who would be determining the borders of the states. Can a state be gerrymandered like a congressional district.
